    Air grabber hood looked so much better on these cars, back in the day folks were removing the stock hoods and getting a sort of fiber glass reproduction air grabber design or ordered straight from the factory, very rarely you saw the side intake hoods as everyone thought they were fugly. At least they kept the hoods if they ever needed it again which I'm sure a few added back on as nostalgia took over. Great video!

    The air grabber hood is the best part. I think only the jo han kits up to this point in the 90s were the only other kit with an accurate air grabber. Amt didn't have theirs until that 70 charger kit from the early 2000s

    Great history lesson of the kits! I really like the Monogram kits from the 80s. They seem to be a little better detailed than some of the other kits I've had of the same era. Of course, they were slightly bigger being 1/24 so they didn't swap parts really well with other models. It's kinda funny sometimes you see people praising Revell models like the Fast and Furious GTX not knowing it was originally made by Monogram in the 80s! One way you can tell is if a Revell kit is 1/24 scale, you can almost be sure it was originally a Monogram kit.

  • @jonathongriffith279
    @jonathongriffith2793 жыл бұрын

    I actually did notice a small difference between the original issue and the first reissue. The front lower valence has a minor ridge on the GTX for locating the front spoilers. And to make the movie car, it seems like kit bashing the original and the reissue would make the best body

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    @TheMuscleCarModeler

    3 жыл бұрын

    Your absolutely right! I missed that on the front valance. The original doesn't have the ridges. I also forgot to mention that the rear spoiler in the GTX version does not use the holes that are in the body. That it just glues on the trunk instead! Also I think it would be easier to just sand off the extra trim than find the original issue then add the spoiler molded in mounts that are on the trunk lid of the GTX body.

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    @TheMuscleCarModeler

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! These come out real nice right out of the box. The body and interior of the MPC is a little nicer in my opinion but the chassis, wheels and engine are not that good out of the box. Kit Bashing in parts from the AMT 71 Charger make a very nice model but a lot more work. I have a 72 roadrunner on my channel that I did this to and also a 72 Charger Rallye that I'm also doing this swap.

    Now, I have a reason to get the F&F one. I have a cadaver/wreck of the Satellite, and I'm missing the emblem. The rear suspension's broken tho, but that's easy to find, I think. Wanna make the I6 base version of the car. Tho, I couldn't find pics of the base interior and I'm not really sure if it's the one from the kit, or the base car has a bench seat on the front. Also need to know what the hubcaps would look like (I would like hubcaps rather than dogdishes). I also personally know Guillaume, the owner of K7. He's a nice guy and sell his resin and also some kits at shows around here in Québec.

    Hey Raoul, question....on the Satellite kit, the dash doesn't have any emblems on the passenger side. Now with the Keith Marks decals, do they have a dash decal that reads Road Runner if I want to make it a Road Runner? I want to make a Road Runner from the F & F kit, so I need a stock Satellite grill, resin grill emblem & a Satellite dash provided Keith's decals do in fact have the dash emblem. Is there anything I'm leaving out, or does that seem like the easiest way to make a Road Runner from a GTX kit? Thanks much!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    @TheMuscleCarModeler

    Жыл бұрын

    I believe the Keith Marks decals had the dash emblem. public.fotki.com/mofobow/plymouth/road_runner_decals/71_road_runner/ This really depends on your level of accuracy. You can sand off the GTX enblems off the grill and dash. You have to do that to the Fast and Furious Issue's body also. The interior tub is all GTX as the door panels are different. You could sand and redo them but that is difficult on a tub style interior. Or look for the 71 Satellite issue.
