As a former paratrooper, I can say we trained hard. However, as fun as it was to parachute, it’s nerve racking to jump into combat. I came close to having to do that during the near Haiti invasion of 1994. Once on the ground, we are light infantry and just as susceptible to being killed as any other combat soldier. It does not surprise me these guys from the 331st got slaughtered in a mechanized war. Since this is a BBC production, the 1st British Airborne Division during WWII at Arnhem suffered a similar fate when forced into something they were not capable of sustaining. Bullets, rockets and bombs don’t care if you wear a special color beret on your head.

Once you hit the DZ, you are Infantry...I spent some time working with former Israeli tank commanders and SF commando's, and was dragged into a discussion on into the preference of being with light troops verses Armor. All of the current anti-tank weapons made armored vehicles a big easy target, was the view of the those in favor of Light Infantry, while tanks were reasonably protected from air bursts and heavy to light weapons. As a old paratrooper, C4/23Abn, 172nd LIB, I still side with Light infantry, one hit on a tank can take out several troops and has a signature hard to hide, while a well dispersed dug in force is harder to dislodge. This can go deeper but the basic are unchanged.

Russia launched 23 airborn operations, 22 were failed. Most known is Hostomel landing. 30 helicopters. 3 shot down. Rest was supposed to provide an air cover to 200 landed, but they were scared by Ukrainian resistance. 200 troops on the ground got such a hard time that Russians canceled next operations. Estimated 60% loss of all special and airborn forces led russia to stop using them

Yesterday, when two Russian X-22 missiles hit a shopping center in Kremenchug, Russian propagandists immediately began to spread a fake that this was a staging of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which themselves fired on the shopping center, and brought corpses from morgues there in advance ... Orcs admitted today that it was their crime, but with a cheap caveat... Allegedly, the orcs destroyed a warehouse with ammunition nearby, the detonation of which led to the fire of the shopping center. And now, attention! There are now dozens, just dozens of videos from the scene of the tragedy in open sources. Do you hear the sounds of detonation of ammunition on them? That your efforts were not in vain, but for the betterment of society, even if it was for only Russia's benefit. Unfortunately, everything Russian military is fighting for and dying for is based on lies and for one man's greed and insecurities. It's been a total waste for everyone. For many Russians, one of the most profound unspoken tenets that formed the Soviet system was that human life has no value - except for the lives of the rulers and authorities. "I am nothing" forms a grim legacy inherited from the Soviet Union where multitudes often were repressed, oppressed and sacrificed in whatever manner the leaders deemed appropriate in order to accomplish their goals. It derives not only from that oppressive system, but also from centuries of being subject to autocratic rulers who regularly regarded citizens as property to be used as needed.

Before his assassination after the end of WW2 Gen Patton said during the process of returning displaced Jews, to Germany He noted that after close, peacetime contact with Jews, Russians, and Germany…that we made an error He claimed that we may have defeated the wrong enemy And noted how the soviets were the most disciplined soldiers he had ever seen, attributing it most likely to cruel practices. Something along the lines of Mongolians who had only recently become civilized. If given a choice between living w nazi Germany or the communist soviets, the Germans were far more civilized. He also stated some disturbing observations of the holocaust victims. Implying they were agents of KGB sent to divide German politics and put stress on cultural norms. After blowing the whistle and advocating to finish the war back then, when it was easily winnable, and that waiting made Us weaker and soviets stronger After being called crazy, he wrote to his wife that he wouldnt push the issue any further seeing the semetic influence in our media even back then, he said he would silently bide his time until he could destroy them entirely. He died from a mysterious car wreck shortly after. Despite outrage and cries to investigate the crash, from the , US and western governments refused to look into it. And still refuses to this day

Few soldiers on a losing side will not avoid being a casualty over time.

During the fifth month of a full-scale war in Ukraine, a huge amount of evidence has accumulated that Russia does not just intend to occupy our country, it is deliberately perpetrating the genocide of Ukrainians. In my opinion, international partners should open their eyes as wide as possible and understand that they are supporting Ukraine not in the war for its independence and freedom, but for survival. And survival depends on the effectiveness of the use of weapons against Russia on its own territory. After all, the shopping center in Kremenchug was destroyed by an X-22 missile fired by a strategic missile-carrying bomber from Russian airspace. The destruction of infrastructure facilities of the Russian army on the territory of Russia should become a priority, and Ukraine's international partners should recognize this. Warehouses, military units, airfields, repair plants, etc. An ATACMS tactical missile strike at the airfield in Shaikovka would have avoided the tragedy in Kremenchug. But our partners have so far denied us both the provision of tactical missiles for the M270 / M142, and do not welcome strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation. In fact, thus becoming silent accomplices of genocide. Observers of the deaths of Ukrainians... every day. Attacks on military targets of the Russian army on the territory of Russia and Belarus (if necessary) must be supported not only at the geopolitical level, but also technically - by providing the necessary weapons.☂️☂️☔️☔️

Those surviving troops that committed mass executions of civilians around Kiev were pulled back, rearmed and sent back in. If fortune smiles on the Generals, those boys will die so that none can reveal their orders to kill civilians. If they survive to win then their war crimes will be seen as necessary to assure victory. The Generals win either way. The soldiers lose, the civilians lose.

Wars usually last a long time and you could also have a lot of knowledge and or expertise that you could use in training new recruit's or briefing fellow soldiers. Yes this was a really well documented piece of news here. The BBC always does this, but the way they did the start of this one with the graphics and the style of music, which the cornerstone of BBC documenting, was very much on point and felt like one that was remembering the losses of soldiers from many decades ago, which very much undertones how this war will inevitably feel in the far future. In a way, it’s much like how we remember past wars and the sadness of it all, and this is the tone they have achieved here again.
