I was an usher at Rev James Clevelands home going service it was a blessing it was to send him home to be with the Lord.

Wow!!! Thank you so much!!! I always wanted to see the entire Homegoing Celebrations of Rev. James Cleveland.... This right here is part of our Black History!!!

@carlosgibson2911 that's the edited version of all 3 days. Day number one was at his star on Hollywood Blvd walk of fame. Day number two was the Memorial musical at Cornerstone Institutional B.C. of Los Angeles, he founded/pastored in November of 1971, a few years after the start of GMWA National Convention. Day number three was at the Shrine Auditorium, the only thing that wasn't shown was Rev. Cleveland burial at Inglewood Cemetery.

I thank God for James Cleveland! And I thank James Cleveland for, "Lord, help me to hold out!" That song rescued me!! I'll never forget it!!

I was a member of the LA youth chapter and the youngest member of the adult chapter, so I sang for the viewing at Cornerstone and the homegoing at the Shrine. It took about 6 months later for me to randomly break down crying my eyes out. What an honor it was to sit at the feet of greatness, to attend the GMWA when James still ran it and so many other wonderful memories. I was a member of Double Rock, but considered Cornerstone my second church home.

Peace be still is one of the greatest songs ever written!! My mother would always take us to see James Cleveland when he would come to Wash.D.C. I was 15, and would sit in front of the stage..It was a memorizing experience!!! Thanks for sharing this!!!!

RIP Rev Timothy Wright !!!! There was NO ONE like him! He would come to ANY service and smoke the pulpit smh…. Don’t go down like that too much no more smh RIP to ALL the GREATS!

I was 15years old when I met the late Rev James Cleveland growing up in Los Angeles myself my twin sister Amelia and Gertrude we were the youngest members of the Southern California Community Choir oh my gosh what wonderful time we had in thoses days we attended the gospel music workshop of America with Rev be bless Ms Aurelia Elayne Nicholson King who now resides in San Antonio Texas.

So many memories of Friday night, February 15, 1991 and Saturday morning February 16, 1991, as a member of Cornerstone Institutional Baptist Church and the Los Angeles Gospel Messengers, I'll forever pray for and support his daughter LaShone Cleveland.

@@dantejones5289 cool. I was introduced to the late Reverend James Cleveland music when I was young my aunt had the Amazing Grace album a collaboration he did with the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin.

I loved Dr. EV Hill. All of the legends on this video are gone. What a great history

My Aunt had a Record back in the day of hers I used to play all the time with her version of Donnie Hathaway's "Singing A Song For You" on it and she did the old Gospel Song "Trouble In My Way" and her song "Give Me Somethin To Hold On To."

Today’s gospel artists that is looking at this. Please start re-recording some of Cleveland gospel classics on your projects. Especially songs from the Southern California community choir from the 70’s and 80’s. I hope his daughter will make it easy to get the songs rights. ❤

@lkjmpb absolutely true, I will always remember that night Monday October 29, 1990, singing in the Los Angeles Chapter Mass Choir of GMWA and the Los Angeles Gospel Messengers, the Messengers, backed Tramaine Hawkins, singing Stand Still And Know that I am God!!!

Paul Jones to me (side note: I listened to the song, but it was very different from this recording. so I would guess my intuition was right). By the way, quick question... you seem to upload all your videos in 16:9 (which is cropping the original 4:3 resolution). I'm just wondering, is that how the videos were rendered or why is that?
