    I have this jacket in size large, and the Alpinestars Nucleon Flex Pro Ci chest armor size large fits perfectly in the chest pockets. Seriously, you’d think they are made for this jacket. The Alpinestars armor is CE level 2, much more perforated, and cheaper than the Rev’It chest armor. I have a 44” chest and first tried an XL and with all the adjusters at their smallest settings, the back protector and chest armor installed with no liners it feels a tiny bit too big. I exchanged it for a size large and am now happy with the fit.

    These videos aren't reviews, these are overviews. This is a video version of a brochure but with less actual info. You can call them reviews when you tell people stuff like will the layers actually keep you warm and dry when you're riding in the rain in chilly weather for a full day. Also, the attachment points on the jacket are designed for actual Rev'it accessories. Third, there's no way Mr. McHugh would feel comfortable wearing a size L when riding with the layers on. I'm 5'11" and 240 lbs and can barely fit an XXL with the layers.

  • @patrickmchugh8039

    @patrickmchugh8039

    Unsure how you can speak to what's comfortable on me, but try to keep in mind most people are not wearing each layer 24/7 while wearing this jacket. Sure, the LG was tight on me with all the layers but 100% do-able for a wet/cold ride on an ADV bike (I'd know, I was wearing it). The XL would be ENTIRELY too big on me without the layers on while riding in the summer or just a colder/non-raining day. Definitely something to consider if you are only ADV riding in the tundra in the winter factor in extra sizing for whatever jacket you wear, not just this one. But I'm not surprised you fit in a larger size than me, you are 20lbs+ bigger than me. That extra weight could be at the chest or stomach which is why weight is not what you base jacket/dress suits off of, chest measurement is the most important and my 220lb 44" chest has me in a LG (especially in the summer) comfortably. Ride safe, Pat

    @@patrickmchugh8039 The Rev'It size chart on the Revzilla website says for a 44" chest you should be wearing an XL and that's at the upper limit of the XL (XL: 42.1"-44.1"). I'm 6'2" 240lbs with a 46" chest, according to the size cart I should be wearing a 2XL (44.5"-46.5") and very close to a 3XL (46.9"-48.8"). I understand where Janne is coming from, I bought a pair of pants (not Rev'It) that have the same style of removable rain and insulated liners, I followed the size chart but when I put both liners in I can't get the pants on. They fit good without. I live in Canada, so the insulated liner will be in the jacket approx 50% of the time and I need to able to move while wearing the jacket in that configuration. The waterproof liner isn't an issue, I won't use that as I prefer to have my rain layer on the outside of my jacket but it probably doesn't take up a whole lot of room anyway. Any insights would be appreciated.

    So a long term review of the Sand Jacket and Pants... I have the Sand 3 Jacket and pants and have put roughly 100,000 miles on them over the last 6 years or so. (70% pavement/30% Dirt). the first 4 years were primarily pavement (on the Ducati) and the garments held up REALLY well to street use (2 years ago when I washed them they basically returned to looking like new). Last 2 years I've been riding my 701 on BDR's and the TAT and since I ride aggressively on dirt I have rolled in the dirt a number of times (got pics but RevZilla doesn't let me share the fun). Dirt nap related damage to the garment: Tore one of the arm cinch straps (ended up cutting it off the garment since it was hanging) and the jacket zipper failed down at the very bottom (tore 3 links out). On the pants, the bottom of one leg got special attention during a crash and has a small tear on the leg and on the bottom of the flap over the zipper where the velcro is sewed in. Overall I'd say A++ for durability... 100k miles is a lot of wear and I'm hard on gear... if I can figure out how to get the zipper fixed I'll do that and keep the Sand for warm summer day duty (it's a LOT lighter than my new jacket). The zipper issue has caused me to purchase the Dominator3 jacket and Defender 3 pants from RevZilla (Thanks for sponsoring Ari, Zack and the rest of your crew on social media, didn't even look anywhere else). Why not all Dominator you ask? Well I REALLY like my legs to breath, and so preferred the liner for pants but decided to get the full GTX for the jacket to see how it does. What I found with the Sand is that I didn't like an internal GTX garment on my upper body so I ended up wearing a waterproof overjacket and really didn't like that either... but on the pants a liner was fine. Based on the weight of the Dominator jacket (HEAVY) I'm 95% sure I made the right call since the Defender pants, while not as breathable as the Sand pants... are a LOT lighter feeling than the Dominator material on the jacket. RE: Hook back vs. snap back... Personally I think the hook back works MUCH better than the snap, hook is super easy to find after a month or two with the jacket and finding the snaps stays a "big pita" forever with gloves on... hook better than snap.

  • @RevZilla

    @RevZilla

    3 жыл бұрын

    The WP liner isn't designed to be reversed and snapped into the 3 snaps of the jacket no. The WP liner will stay in place via the top single snap and the closing of the zipper. In order to give the WP layer a more finished look (excluding the exposed taped seams), REV'IT! only designed it to have the single upper snap to hold in place.

  • @RevZilla

    @RevZilla

    Жыл бұрын

    The Andes' WP liner is non-removable, so it'll get much hotter in the summer days whereas the Sand 4 can be customized to match the environment, hence the price difference. You could use the Sand 4 on the street as well, although it maybe a bit overkill in the all-day or off-road features compared to road-touring rigs.

  • @RevZilla

    @RevZilla

    Жыл бұрын

    The WP liner is not designed to be worn overtop of the jacket, no. You could likely stretch it to fit overtop but you may run into tearing issues with the rigid exterior of the jacket. And yes, the pants can fit slim profile knee braces underneath when you remove the armor. It'll be a tight fit, but as long as your braces are slimmer models you should be all set.

  • @RevZilla

    @RevZilla

    Жыл бұрын

    If you wanted to wear the rain layer under the jacket AND still connect the pants / jacket, you would either need to tuck the WP layer in or it will just rest on the connection zippers. However, an easy solution would be to wear the rain layer overtop of the jacket instead of under. This would keep the entire jacket fully dry and remove the connection zipper issue. REV'IT! designed it to be an over OR under rain jacket so you do have the option.

Take out the layers and use the mesh mid zipper system and it's a good two sizes too big. You can go one size down from the sizing chart if you know you won't be using the thermal layers. Also, the rain liner in the jacket is super easy to use over or under the jacket. The rain liner in the pants is a completely different story. It has three zippers so you simply will not be adding it quickly on the road. It's a pain in the ass.

    @@rationalityfirst not really sure. I like the styling of a couple of KTM branded jackets as well as the BMW Rally jacket. But the ktm jackets I like don’t offer enough venting for me and removable water proof liners. I ride a KTM so the BMW jacket is a no go. My bike would never forgive me...oh and it’s pretty speedy. I currently have a Dainese D-Explorer jacket which I’ve been really happy with, but it looks a little dull.

    @@Advcrazy You worry too much about looks. The functionality is all that matters. And from what I've seen Rev'it really shines in the little details. I have also a Sand jacket (don't really remember the model) but the jacket is perfect. The pants are a bit short when riding with short boots or shoes, but they also fit really well. If it's a good cut I don't care about the "styling".

    @@rationalityfirst well I don’t care enough about styling to not buy a full looking jackets I bought the most functional jacket I could find. Was just saying that it and most Adv jackets look dated and boring. Function is also the reason I didn’t buy one of the KTM jackets I mentioned. A friend of mine bought the sand 3 jacket and I think it looks pretty good. Seems like a really nice jacket and I think it looks better than the sand 4.

    I have both pants and jacket and I'm happy. If anybody is interested in a lighter "rain resistant/wind resistant" pants solution for light rain or if it's a little chilly, go find you some old ACU goretex cold weather pants (they will say goretex on the inside) they are great for commuting. They are thin and light and the zippers are big enough where you can take the pants off without taking your shoes or boots off. They also have holes on the side where you can reach into your front pockets. They work for me for 45 miles at 40° haha.

    No, fit from the old Sand 3 still remains the Sand 4 and other REV'IT! pieces. Still the same athletic cut torso and longer sleeve lengths that we've come to know / love from RV.

    When are you guys going to do honest ‘reviews’ instead of hyper sales presentations? These are nothing but presentations, there is very little review to any of your videos. Want proof, when was the last time you advised people not to buy something you have in stock? Lemme help….never.

    @@byever1 Do you have a dictionary Einstein? I encourage you to look up the definition of the word ‘review’. It’s in the R’s, that’s after Q. Then maybe look up the term ‘sales presentation’. They call it a review! It’s not a review. This is a sales presentation with minimal objectivity. Maybe you don’t know how a business should run. First things first, be honest.

    WTH are Re'vit doing!? these jackets are terrible compared to the previous generation. Very feminine, colours are terrible and the quality has even taken a dive. tried a few of their jackets recently. this is how they kept the price the same, downgraded the quality. Gutted. 😞
