(Reupload) Crossing The Chesapeake Bay Bridge And Tunnels

I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

I've never seen the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and tunnels. Given my age and physical situation, I will never go there. Thank you for enabling me to see this area of the country.

Thank you for these trips you take. I ride along with you and I see things and learn things and i don’t actually have to go myself. Love it.

Google tells me that it is 17.6 miles and was completed in 1999. Thats a long ride. Really nice blue/grey sky. I have learnt so much about areas of America since watching your videos and googling whete you have been, very interesting.

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel (CBBT, officially the Lucius J. Kellam Jr. Bridge-Tunnel) is a 17.6-mile (28.3 km) bridge-tunnel that crosses the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay between Delmarva and Hampton Roads in the U.S. state of Virginia.

I love every upload post, hope you're having a good day. I'm epileptic by the way and your videos really help calm me too when I feel a focal seizure, which is a sign of a tonic clonic seizure coming on. I just think about camping and setting up and chopping wood and eating mres with a little wood stove and an mre and it calms me.

That was an interesting drive. I've driven the Chesapeake Bay Bridge near Annapolis many times, driving out to the Eastern Shore to visit my dad, but I've never driven the other Chesapeake bridge/tunnels.

wow, I really enjoyed that drive. Huge bridge. In Canada, we don't have bridges that long. I could be wrong.

If you ever make it down to Louisiana you should drive across the Lake Ponchartrain causeway. It’s longer than the Chesapeake Bay bridge and it’s dead straight the whole way. It’s like taking a bridge straight out into the ocean as you can’t see land on the other side when you start across… supposedly there’s a few miles of it in the middle where you can’t see land on either end (I was driving alone so looking forward so cannot confirm the rear view)

I know you said this is the first tunnel you've been in that wasn't through a mountain, but as a New Englad guy, surely you've been in at least one of the various Big Dig tunnels through Boston? Those are all under city streets, buildings, and the water.

Fun fact: It takes approximately 25 minutes to cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. A destination itself, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel was once considered one of seven global engineering wonders of the world.

I believe the skyway in Tampa is 4 miles and I love crossing it, with that said it is kind of spooky that right next to it is the old bridge that got hit by the barge and killed like 20-30 people.

Can confirm, there are points you can't see land on either side, just bridge and water. I avoid the causeway even though I am close to it when I need to go to the Northshore for the simple fact that if something happens you could be on that bridge for a while.

25 to 75 feet deep The North Channel Bridge is the highest bridge. There is 75 feet from the water to the bottom of the bridge for fishing boats to go under them. The water along the bridge is 25 to 75 feet deep
