My grandparents (all four of them) came from Jammu to Pakistani punjab. They lost family members during partition. I also want to visit Jammu and go to their village called Soda. Sheikhupura is close to Lahore where I now live. It is famous for rice production, and for a mughal era building Hiran Minar. Its old name is Gujjarpura.

what Hindu genocide, i do not disagree that in rural areas minorities do face harsh situations from time to time and even recently I heard of a horrific incident in a village, a whole Hindu family was burnt. but there is no genocide as this current government, Awami league is a pro Indian a pro Hindu government. On the other hand modi and amit shah is actually planning mass genocide and displacement of Muslims from India. The Hindu population in Bangladesh is just a few millions whereas India has billions of Muslims and what they are facing is horrific. being killed because they eat beef...do you understand being killed lynched for eating BEEF?? don't be biased in your sympathy...once again i am not denying that Hindu minorities facing real issues, but those are mostly related to property and land grabbing by few local miscreants in rural areas. India has it's racism in legislative body and the judicial system where they are harassing our girls who chose to wear hijabs, just like Sikhs wearing turbans.

@@shovonalam8372 If Modi and Shah is carrying out Gen*cide than how come the Muslim population is only increasingly. And if they are planning displacing Muslims then show me even one India Muslims who left India and is seeking refuge in any other country. In India, Muslims enjoy far more rights than Hindus. Our Hindu Temples are under Govt controls, they have power over every resource of Hindus while every other minority can run their Institution the way they want. Waqf is the 3rd largest property owner after Army and Railways and you are saying they are harassed. Actually others are harassed by them. See how after Friday payer in Kanpur, they have stop the whole city by creating ruckers and Stone pleting. Hindus were deliberately targeted in those violence. The same was seen when Hindus celebrating their festival during Rama Navami and Hanuman Jayanti where stoned. And, every year the beef mafia is killing so many poor Hindu cattle owners and illegally smuggle Cows to Bangladesh. And, one or two ppl were attacked becoz of beef consumption and its has not been the case recently. We all know about the what happened to Kashmiri Hindu and Sikh population. My mom was herself the victim of stone pleting by your piece full gang just becoz we were celebrating Durga Puja. The same we can see in Bangladesh too on how Durga Puja and Kali processions are attacked and Idols vandalized. The same is adopted by the Islamists in India. Our brothers are so scared in India that they can sit on the Television and pass funny remarks on our Gods and Goddess while there have been so many Processions asking to kill those who even quote facts abt Md. from hadits. There has been patterns of piceful induced violence all over India. And stop spreading fake news that Hizab is ban in India. The ban is only inside the classroom. They come covered in Full black letterbox till the schools and only they arnt allowed to sit where the same inside the class becoz we have uniforms there. You cant dictate a school and college your preference on dress when clearly we have set guidelines for dress code and everyone has to follow the rules if you signed up to it. There are many schools were Hizab is allowed ask them to go to those schools, no one is stopping them and when these rules are there since 2002, why did the girls have problem only now. It was the deliberately done to unite Muslims votes in then state election in UP. Muzi organizations like PfI and others where deliberately were creating ruckus so that Muslims vote as a bloc in then UP elections. And you can't compare Hizab with Sikhs Turban. Hizab isn't essential practice in Islam but Turban is. Out of choice, you can do whatever in your house but not in a public space like Schools when you clearly signed the school application form that you will follow all the school rules in which uniforms are also included. And don't tell that killings and attacks on Bangladesh are happening in some remote corners. We saw the violence against hindus which was followed by Modi's visit to Bangladesh. Temples attacked and destroyed. People attacked etc even when a so called "Secular govt" of Sheikh Hassena is in place.

@@ks-xb3ci false, muslim population is declining. what info you are getting is biased and conspiratory to create a feeling in Indian Hindus a sense of alarm. I never heard of this. Having grown up in south Florida, US this was not taught in school. In fact I don't recall ever hearing of Muslims or Sikhs. Where we lived it was predominantly Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist. The Catholic church was strange 2 us. But when we went 2 Miami Beach that's where we saw 4 the first time Jewish people from New York. In school we were taught about the Holocaust which is somewhat similar. From a very young age I could never understand how people growing up together socializing together could turn on each other. ALL because of a different faith. And in each faith it promotes Love & goodwill towards others. I turned away from the Baptist church, from religion very early on as I saw the people did not practiced what they preaches. I was an optimist believing the good out weighed the evil on this planet. Now in mid 60 u hear of so much pain inflicted on others all across the planet. We r suppose 2 b in a great awakening I pray we can learn from our past for a more peaceful, loving life. We r blessed with such an awesome planet. The human race has such great potential 2 collectively live amazing lives. God bless us all.

You clearly have a very low IQ or political agenda or both. Partition involved only two states of India-punjab and Bengal.. Most Indian Muslims were not involved in it because Pakistan was not even close to them and Hindus and Muslims in rest of India did not care. So majority of Muslim population remained in india. Not to mention Pakistan's Hindu population got divided into Bangladesh. Instead of spreading fake agendas online, why don't you try to improve your unemployment? Didn't it increase along with child malnutrition rate after 2015?

I lost my grandfather during partition chaos coming to Pakistani Punjab from Indian Patiala (Punjab) and my father at 12 being the oldest child became the caretaker of his younger brother and sisters. This was very difficult to watch. No wonder my father was a loner and a quiet person. He saw this cruelty of men at such a young age. He never ever once talked about what happened with any of us. Such disorganized movement. No security arrangements made by the British. British cut and ran and partitioned right across villages. No sense. British government and royals of that time will bear this responsibility for eternity in this life and the next.

Shocking; cannot imagine living through such violence/loss/pain. And as another noted, it happens around the world and to/by all people groups. There is a beautiful image in this documentary that, to me, serves as a contrast to this kind of human cruelty. That is the verbal blessings given and received from various Muslims to Anita, and especially the blessing bestowed by Anita’s mother upon the former home of her father. @28:39 - Anita’s mother: “This was my grandfather’s house.”, Muslim woman: “In that case, treat it as home.” @28:55 Anita’s mother in the house where her grandfather used to live, now occupied by Muslims: “My happiness is that it is not empty. Somebody’s living here and making good use of this land, this place. It is not ruins; there is life here. Bless this house. Bless this land.” @27:10 Muslim man bestows blessing upon Hindu visitors, Anita and her mother @31:41 again, Anita receiving blessing from the Muslim man (also 54:09 & 54:20). Millions of mothers & sisters died raped , mutalated and forced to kill themselves because of some peoples monstrosity. The story could be anything else it could be after partition there could be only land borders and people could still meet each other but no because of some greedy pervert 3 countries which were 1 mother contry devided by land and by heart. I think many people find it as words of there heart and many will disagree. Can't think more about the situation which people came through that time and what was going on the peoples mind that they did the shamefull things. Prey for the victims and prey for the better future not for war.

I say a quite interesting work. In fact, photography is very good. It would have been better if more survivors were accounted. By the way, its not true at least in case of west Punjab ( Pakistan) that both sides killed each other. Its a good reason for cover up as the fact is otherwise. Hindus and Sikhs were simply cleared from there.

I don't understand why even Muslims from the subcontinent cry over partition? They are the ones resposible for all the pandemonium. I hear, Indians often say this, what was the need for partition. But 90% Pakistani are for the partition, even today. Why wouldn't they be, afterall, Pakistan was the first country to be created just on the basis of religion. What a shame! Who supported a communal organisation like Muslim League? Congress never wanted partition. Muslim league used fundamentalism and garnered sympathy, using British power(remember the famous line by Syed Ahmad Khan, "Hindu-Muslim unity is impossible", what a shame!), and carved out a whole new nation. You see, Indian Punjabi songs often refer to places like Lahore, Rawalpindi and other Pakistani cities, because those who remember these places are often the children of refugees, who were kicked out of their homeland. This feeling of nostalgia lived on in Indian Punjab. But Pakistani songs never refer to India, which itself explains a lot....because Muslims were never forced out of India so most modern Pakistani muslims have little to no affection for India(even if it was the same country before)....that's the seed for radicalism there. There are numerous stories on how Sikhs and Hindus who were unable to escape had to give up their faith and convert. Only last year, twin brothers separated during partition met. The Indian brother remained Sikh, while Pakistani brother had to remove turban, shave his beard, and embrace Islam. Painful to watch two brothers in their 80s crying(the Pakistani brother had still instilled Sikh values in his children, like wishing 'sat sri akal')

Instead of loving our neighbours, our families, the entire world around us, take care of our beautiful Mother Earth, we waste most of our lives hating and worrying about skin colour, religious beliefs, and lately evil corrupted politics, heart breaking and sad😢😓😭.

The riots at 1947 were deplorable initiated by West Punjab Poverty stricken Muslims. The British left India subcontinent due to WW2, not because of Gandhi, Nehru or Jinnah. India subcontinent was never a single country but a region of S. Asia. The Sikh did not fight but surrendered to the British who took Punjab in1849 from Sikh. Due to surrendered of Sikh to the British Sikh lives had been saved the Sikh elites were allowed to have their large land holding and wealth to them in all over Punjab and NWFP. Due this reason Sikh and Hindu were very well-off in Punjab though in minority, The Sikh leaders should have stayed away from India Pakistan joining Politics since they were economic elite in those areas which became part of Pakistan.

What happened after were masacres from all sides.....sad, people who had lived on their land for centuries were now being uprooted and sent to the other side of the partitioned border because of their religion.

The Sikhs were supposed to be part of Pakistan, initially. Before partition, Qaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah spoke to the Sikh leader Tara singh (from Rawalpindi), and said to him that all your religious sites are going to be in Pakistan and if you don't come to Pakistan, you will have to face hindu supremacy. His eventual reply was, it is said, while taking out his dagger, that rivers of blood will run but sikhs will not be part of Pakistan. rivers of blood did run. Sikhs were incited by Hindus to kill Muslims. Muslims retaliated. Muslim Pakistan has opened kartarpur for the Sikhs, built a hindu temple in Islamabad. Our Mosques are destroyed in india. Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the two nation theory were and are right.

We are glad our forefathers refused to join Pakistan. There is no way possible that we will accept the supremacy of Punjabi Muslims over us. We, the Sikhs, have never been ruled over by Punjabi Muslims. For your information, there are many religious sites that are highly sacred to Sikhism which are in India. Some of these are in areas outside Punjab, such as Delhi, Bihar, and Maharastra. You simply don't know the close bond between Sikhism and Hinduism. A Sikh will never allow her daughter to marry a Muslim and will not mind if she marries a Hindu, and the same is true for Hindus. A Hindu man will never allow her daughter to marry a Muslim but will allow her to marry a sikh man. Such marriages are relatively common in India. The genocide of 1947 was pre-planned and executed by the Muslim League under the direct leadership of Jinnah. They first tried this strategy in the Noahkhali district of Bengal and then in the Rawalpindi division in March 1947. The difference is that, unlike the Bengali Hindus, the Sikhs were more than capable of giving a befitting reply to the Muslim aggression, which they did with earnestness and took revenge for every single Sikh killed by Muslims and abducted Muslim girls and woman for every single Sikh girl or women that were kidnapped by the Muslims. We are incredibly thankful to our forefathers for taking the revenge, which was magnificent and sweet. I agree with Jinnah about his two-nation theory. We have nothing in common with Muslims and are glad that there are hardly any Muslims in East Punjab.
