Not underappreciated. It's only on a console a small portion of the gamers actually have do to shortages. If it was on all platforms, it would be considered one of the best roguelikes on the market.

If this game had reached a broader audience, it would have been talked about everywhere. I'm one of the lucky ones that got to experience it from launch. If you find yourself still playing a game like this over a year after buying it.... you've got a gem. Can't wait to see what Housemarque does next!

Really hope as PS5s become more available, and maybe this game gets into PS Plus, that it will see a big resurgence in finding new players that know a masterpiece when they see one

Maybe Sony should have sold it at it's real price instead of the joke price the tried to flog it at, the Insomniac leaks have shown how badly this game has sold thanks to Jim Ryan.

One of my favourite games of all time!

This game’s pacing is so masterful that the midpoint of the game, when Selene beats Nemesis, is EXACTLY halfway through a speedrun, to the minute!

This game is stunning no matter how it's played, such a beautiful design. This person obviously loves the game to have put so many hours into it and be able to play like this. It's a big compliment to the Dev team.

You can feel how the devs really love this game and how proud they are with how it turned out just from the way they talk about it

23 hours and 49 deaths, but Returnal could not stop me!! Almost had a heart attack at every boss fight!

My heart never beat so hard in my life, while fighting the first boss.

even tho I’m still working on Hades on the PS5 (released 2021) and Deathloop, this game might still be my GOTY. First roguelike ever and it blew me away.

Death loop is a blast. One of my favorites from the past few years. Returnal is one as well

This game blew my mind and was beyond my expectations. Even after the coop update, me and my friend have played countless hours.

Uh not to be a debbie downer but you literally hear exactly that same statement in many other videos in this series. I.e. “Mark didn’t that map take you 6 months to make? He beat it in 30 seconds”.

yeah that 3rd boss has such an amazing design. absolutely love that encounter.

Returnal is my GOTY, and it's not likely to change. I'm so happy for Housemarque - they deserve the accolades.

You can't say enough about just how wonderful Returnal really is. The atmosphere, the soundtrack, the story, the gameplay. Returnal is a 10/10 must experience.

Returnal is my new favourite game. I'm absolutely consumed by it. Special thanks to devs for including SUBLIME spatial audio on PC. It's THE best surround sound I've ever heard. Amazing game!

This is so damn impressive with legendary precision. Well done!

This game is amazing. Total Metroid and day after tomorrow vibes and the bosses blew my mind. So many hated on it because you had to “start over” every time but there were tons of shortcuts and even acts that permanently pushed you forward.

Playing Devil's Advocate here, the combat loop and the gameplay is fantastic, but the roguelite stuff could have been much better. So much in Returnal's artifacts, items and weapons is completely on luck. There's so little avenue for synergizing a build, and quite a few random negative effects that can immediately kill a run. The procedural generation as well leaves much to be wanted, despite the layouts being "different", it feels like a lot of rooms are the same between runs. The best comparison is Enter the Gungeon, another bullet hell roguelite that does the roguelite mechanics much better than Returnal.

This game blew me away. Such a great game.

What an impressive speed run! 1 biome normally takes me 45 mins to beat lol

Finished the final biome yesterday morning. Working on permanent upgrades before taking on the Tower of Sisyphus soon. This is a title you come back to over time to test your skills. Extremely addictive, especially once you understand the gameplay loop

Took me a week to beat this gem, one of the best gaming experiences I’ve had

Finally came back to watch this video after finishing the game myself after a long 8 hours and 13 runs

Intresting fact: Atropos ( Ancient Greek: Ἄτροπος "without turn") , in Greek mythology, was one of the three Moirai, goddesses of fate and destiny. Her Roman equivalent was Morta. Atropos was the oldest of the Three Fates, and was known as "the Inflexible One. It was Atropos who chose the manner of death and ended the life of mortals by cutting their threads. She worked along with her two sisters, Clotho, who spun the thread, and Lachesis, who measured the length. Atropos has been featured in several stories, such as those of Atalanta and Achilles. Her name means ''the inevitable''.

My favourite game this year, hands down.

Got the Platinum, but this game... It just, it needs more cowbell.

Its also a very fulfilling platinum trophy. This trophy can be used to measure the mettle of a gamer. Others that also do this are the sekiro & demon's souls platinums as well.

This game has one of the best mini-maps I've ever seen. Bravo to the devs on such a wonderful job.

Absolutely incredible cycle!

This speed run is extremely skillful and still got hit in some difficult scenarios...So you can guess how many times normal player will fail in these levels...Just liike me😂

Bloody hell. It took me close to 80 hours to finish this game for the first time!

You can tell both of the commentators are not happy to see the player running past everything they've worked so hard on (understandably)

Best game I’ve ever played tbh. That melee weapon is so OP. You can kill those giant monster dudes not the bosses but the big monster dudes that show up in lockdowns with threee swipes of that

My 2021 GOTY and an absolute shining example of how a shooter that has both unconventional mechanics but still very polished gameplay and controls can be an amazing experience, and then on top of that it also has so much else going for it that makes it even better from the ambience to the effects.

This game looks amazing, even while being played in a none flattering way. Hoping for a PC release, or maybe get a second hand PS5 in 5 years for $100 (assuming I'm still alive)
