Return of the Turn, Episode 14: Inferno

Спорт

In this episode, Marcus travels to Murren, Switzerland to experience the world's largest and longest amateur ski race, the Inferno. It is a top to bottom race with thousands of competitors, little safety netting, and zero chill. As stress levels rise in the days leading up to the race, only an epic day of powder skiing could be the cure.

Not sure if it’s just me, but return of the turn has completely brought back my passion in skiing for the fun of it. It’s tough not racing anymore, but this series taught me that there’s wayyy more than red and blue on the mountain. Cheers Marcus

The launch at 10:18, the hairpin at 10:43, the 360° camera on Marcus’ head quietly witnessing … just epic. I’m glad Tim and Cam raced, because nothing was better than watching it from Marcus’ POV. I was never into either freeriding or racing for myself, but thanks to “Return of the Turn” I am now!

Damn that looks awesome. It's wild that they only seem to have B netting in some important places on a few of the exposed turns, and that turn at 10:34 didn't have any netting! I wonder how many people fly off course each year.

Thank you for interviewing those people .. many people don't know the part Brits have played in the modern skiing of today ! Fantastic insight! Be proud of yourself's chaps . Great work !

I love the campy, skiing for the joy of skiing tone that's central to the Return of the Turn series from episode 1 onwards! This episode is a bit different; I felt the tension as if I had signed up for this crazy race! You feel like you're right there with Marcus as a participant and tourist, and it's humanizing to see Marcus, the beyond excellent skier that he is, operating a bit outside of his comfort zone, honestly conveying some of the anxiety I'd know I'd have. Banger of a run! I love Marcus got some free ride in too. It makes me want to get back to the Alps (it's been a few years).

Looks intense even without other having to navigate around other racers on the course. Given how well you can ski, there must have been some serious competition there.
