Return of Kitchen Counter Thrift Haul?
My interest is buying and selling antiques and vintage items mostly
from the 1920's into the mid 1960's. Thank you for watching.

All these beautifully American made items.Products to be proud of for their quality
People waiting for "fresh" carts are rude. Being kind and respectful has gone out the window for these types.

I wish store management wouldn’t allow this practice. I believe everyone should have a fair chance. Meaning, all customers should shop from the shelves, and not be allowed to bombard the fresh carts the second they come out of the sorting room.

My GW doesn’t allow any shopping from the carts or the part of the store where you drop off donations. They are very strict.

That's just nasty and greedy for these people to sit there and wait for the fresh carts and it shouldn't be allowed to happen IMO 🎉

It’s a bad look. It’s a lack of pride or decorum on display. I know Scott’s using the “fairness” angle but don’t know how taking it from the bin and placing it on self to be scooped up by loiterers makes it any more fair. I’m open to ideas on that point. Going back to the lack of pride and decorum. It’s very gnawing on our sensibilities to look around and see that we’re sharing space with people who just don’t care about their poor behavior or how they’re perceived. Unfortunately, that’s as equally common as not now. Of course, pride and decorum is all relative! I’ll be the first to defend Scott’s ratty hat and tattered sweatshirts; but that’s because I see him as a Geppetto type character…a gentlemanly shopkeeper, focusing on his trade and tinkering in his old work clothes. It’s authentic and right for the channel. My mother would think he needed to clean himself up if he was gonna be on TV. Have I lost the plot of this? Probably

@@oldcuriosityshop265 Right on! I completely agree with you. At my GW/Thrift stores that type of behavior is not allowed. One cannot touch anything on any rack or cart until the employee places it on the shelf.

I think that the Hoosier cabinet is a great place to display items.
Good afternoon Scott 😊
I call those waiting on fresh carts, ‘The hemorrhoid hawks’, because they are more likely to develop this medical condition waiting than to land a good deal. I hope they are wearing their compression stockings/socks. LOL. Merry Christmas!

Thankfully, those sorts of shenanigans are not allowed in the thrift stores I shop in.
Oh yay!!!! Love the kitchen counter! Especially when it’s a “Hoosier” counter! 😊
I love when you find the old pics and advertising.
Absolutely love the refrigerator dishes. I love using them
I Love the candle sticks
These glimpses of your kitchen are making me so eager to see the whole room. That waffle iron is special.
Yes, yes, yes!!!
It is so nice to get a good old fashioned Kitchen Counter Thrift Haul!
More Scott kitchen!!! Love the glimpses of your kitchen, and the 'counter thrift haul' on your hoosier cabinet!!! You collected some lovely things to show us. I am especially fond of vintage porcelain clad kitchen appliances. The first pic of what I think is a Fraunfelter breakfast set set me to swoon! Haha. I spent about seven years gradually collecting the 'Basketweave' pattern set of Porcelier breakfast set: waffle iron, toaster (like the third one in your pics), coffee pot with sugar and creamer, and a bonus--double sandwich toaster. I love seeing them on my kitchen counter, and they all work too!
I often wonder what we buy today that will be desirable as "vintage" in the future. Or, in this age of "fast" everything, whether anything will be worth collecting. Merry Christmas Scott!
I liked the pink square cup and saucer
Down here in Georgia they announce over the speakers that workers are coming out with carts and to leave the worker alone until all items as placed on the shelves. They say it more politely, but that’s the gist of it. Generally, people do leave them alone until all items are placed on the shelves. But, I have seen a time or 2 rude people actually taking something out of a cart and then getting the stink eye from others, but they seem to not care one iota, which is frustrating for those that chose to be polite and follow the rules.

I applaud that effort. I'd like to meet the manager who placed this practice into store policy. Great idea.
People used to hang out at my Goodwill at the door like that. After there was an uncontrollable fight they finally put an end to that! People were behaving like Animals!!
Thanks Scott, you make me laugh reviewing domestic history. Both sets of grand parents had extra hands to help them navigate life😂😂. A few lived in and others came in daily. We would do what we were told, no fighting at the table and used our Best table manners. We were always respectful because we knew if we got out of line, we would be spanked and sent to our rooms. Which thinking back was not so terrible, we learned basic conversation skills and social skills, table manners and respect for our elders. We never thought of rolling our eyes or talking back. The GW lounge lizards need to get their walking papers from the customers and GW needs to remove all chairs anywhere near the doors, where the carts are rolled out. I know in my favorite GW, the prices went down a couple months ago, and the merchandise turn over was quicker. Way off the Record, I spoke to a GW Manager and asked if there was training in pricing items. She said no, but I know there are guidelines. Each location based upon the District Management Team. Can’t wait to see those strings of lights, enjoy some hot chocolate to enjoy! Have a memorable Holiday and thank you for your adventures/discoveries and Pure Fun You share with us. ❤️🎄🤶🎉👯❤️🎄🧑🏻🎄🎉💃❤️
In the '70s, I thought those were rich people's Christmas tree lights.
Scott you certainly pick up interesting memorabilia!🎄😘
❤❤❤ Thank you for showing my favorite collectible appliances - Royal Rochester in their Modernistic and Golden Pheasant patterns. Porcelier too! I never see these shown in any other KZread channels.
It's baack! yay. I can't believe Goodwill allows those people to do that!!! Goodwill is so shady.
I would be so excited to watch that Christmas footage from the late 1950’s, to hopefully get a peek at some of their vintage Christmas decorations! Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!! 🎅🏻🎄
I am really looking forward to those reels! It is so fun to see everyone dancing around and being silly for the camera. Your haul was incredible!
Yes back in the kitchen, nice pieces love kitchen items ,the waffle iron is so interesting I didn't know there were small gadgets with porcelain,so many new things .👏😀👍
Amazing porcelain covered toasters!
Love you, Scott!

@@escarelet Not superstitions. We recently went to Africa to visit the two baby elephants that we adopted. We went on 10 safaris. I learned these facts from the elephant keepers at the elephant orphanage and our safari guides. I was able to feed, pet and kiss a 9000 lb. Bull elephant. He was featured in the movie Holiday in the Wild. He played the role of Roy…..a 9000 lb. Elephant. Best experience of my life.

Wow, you found some pretty awesome things!!! I can't wait to see those vintage home movies!!
Merry Christmas Scott! The early birds (hawks!) only think they are getting all the good items, they don't you know you come along and gleen the real goods ❤
Wow, the waffle maker!! I have the poppy revereware waffle iron. Lots of cleaning and it's amazing. (Edit, it's Royal Rochester and I've been on the lookout for the rest of the set, which is why I watch!
Yay!! I missed these
Our Goodwill doesn’t allow “shopping” from the new carts but that causes people to stalk the workers until they put what they want on a shelf. Either way, the old snatch and grab method is rude and way too aggressive for my comfort. 🤷🏼♀️
Awesome finds. I always enjoy shopping with you. Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Wow, so many great things, the waffle iron is the bomb 💣 and the toaster too! The candlesticks are beautiful. I can’t resist cobalt blue glass and even if the vase is not old it’s still pretty 😍. Someone is going to buy the green punch bowl set, anyone that collects the green glass would be thrilled to have that. I’m always blown away by all the treasures you find.
The Hall refrigerator dish is one of my favorites. The color is incredible!
I love a good tin. Love that coffee tin.
Hey Scott, I got those elephants as a gift many, many years ago. They’re the bookends for my Harry Potter collection.
My Grandmother served breakfast like that. The whole nine yards. But as I've said before she was older than God, and my mom was a late-in-life baby. Your explaining how and why women served food like that is a window on the whys and wherefores of my Grandmother. Thank you for taking us shopping.
If you find some of the hanging crystals, I’m short 4 of them on my set of candle holders. I love them so much. I would purchase that set with all the crystals plus four more crystals for my set!!!!
I remember the third set of lights you showed. We called them “fancy” lights. My friends had them but not at my parents’ house. Our lights dated from the 1940’s. So did our Shiny Brite ornaments. You’re absolutely right that shipping to me often costs as much or more than the item but as you said correctly I cannot find the wonderful items you thrift so I must pay for the shipping. I really appreciate how carefully you pack, Scott. It’s worth it to me to buy from you because you thoroughly clean items and I know they will be packed professionally. Several times my husband has commented on your extraordinary packing skills😊 He saves your boxes and supplies and reuses them. Please keep the refrigerator dishes for you. I too prefer to store with glass dishes in my refrigerator. Hmm, I believe it’s pronounced bo beh sheh not bo besh. Thank you for all I’ve learned from you as a novice collector and for introducing me to a wonderful group of resellers and buyers through the live sales on your channel. I’m learning from them, too and it’s fun! Drooling over that green punch bowl set.😂Can you imagine the shipping cost in that to me? Merry Christmas to you and your family. 🎄
Hi Scott. The kitchen counter thrift hauls are my favorite.

Scott, Happy Holidays! Shipping has gotten outrageous these days. It isn’t the sellers fault either, especially packing with TLC. I miss the days when Priority mail was $2.90 for under 2 pounds in 2 days! Scott, you gave me the confidence to rewire a floor lamp this year. The bought the lamp and shades at 2 different Estate sales 2 weekends apart from each other. I absolutely love the lamp! At a yard sale, I bought a gorgeous 1930’s coffee percolator for $5.00! It is white with a floral design near the top and is the shape of a trophy 🏆 urn with 2 handles like the one shown in your video! My question is was there a standard plug/cord for these type of percolators? I want to find one so I can use it, but don’t know which kind of plug to look for? Any information would be truly appreciated. TIA I recently found that blue refrigerator dish like yours. Finding things like that are a rare find at Goodwill here in CA. I will be making waffles on my late Parents wedding gift waffle maker from 1940 on Christmas morning. 😋 The waffle maker was built to last! I am all for a waffle party! MerryChristmas! Thank you! 🎄🎁🎄
I really enjoyed the kitchen counter top reveal. The cabinet looks and feels right. No wonder you wanted it.
I agree with you on shipping costs it's definitely gone up. Also another thing to consider is what packing material inside is used to insure the glass doesn't break. You can't just use old newspapers and expect the item to arrive not broken. It all adds up to the total cost.
I recently found that white bowl myself “in the wild” the kitchen depression glass book I have did list it as Anchor also. I’ve used 14 14 10 or even 8 in tall and shipping doesn’t jump too much . But I’m in Kansas which makes a difference as well . Gorgeous punch set ! And the percolator with the green glass top 😍Merry Christmas!
I love all of the old stuff that you find! I found a cool, art deco, toaster in pretty good condition, and I just love it! Just use it for decor.❤

That is correct for the folks who believe in luck. I personally do not believe in luck, so it makes no difference to me whether the trunk is up or down. Thank you for asking about the dollhouse. So entertaining and educational. I had never seen a waffle iron with the ceramic insert or knew there would have been other items to make a set. And that’s not all ~ I had never heard of or seen a ceramic toaster, enjoyed the various photos of toasters and kitchen sets. So glad I found your channel!
I hope I find one of those waffle irons in the wild. I love it!
I was thrilled to find that blue Hall Westinghouse refrigerator dish at an estate sale recently. The waffle iron and all those kitchen items are super fantastic!

Hey Scott love going thrifting with you….YES!!! I do not like when they bring out the carts and everyone is digging I. Them. The people just leave it there u til people are done going crazy digging in the cart that comes out from the back. Just gives me a bad taste in my mouth, and too bad they can’t bring out the carts when they are closed but it’s just the way it is I guess. Hope you had a great Christmas with your family and friends 😊💜
Merry Christmas Scott. 🎄. Went antiquing last week and immediately thought of you. There was a ruffly edge Iris and Herringbone bowl. Something I rarely see around here. There were 2 big Fosteria Americana vases. One like yours, other was bigger. But the thing that made the biggest impact, was an Art Deco chrome cream and sugar, with red bakelite accents and a matching spoon!!! Had fun.

Let me go and dig through the basement because it’s one of my own personal 78 records. I’ve been collecting them since I was a teenager and I can’t remember off the top of my head. I think it’s usually sung by Fanny Brice.
