    Yes Johny, we all saw the same fight. Round 2 (Hendricks) - 37 total strikes for Hendricks (30 significant, 19 power) compared to GSP's 30 (28 significant, seven power). Hendricks wobbled GSP Round 3 (GSP) - 32 total strikes (31 significant) for GSP compared to Hendricks' 22 (15 significant) Round 4 (Hendricks) - Hendricks landed 41 total strikes (18 significant) to GSP's 24 (14 significant). GSP slipped and Hendricks took advantage. Round 5 (GSP) - 3 total strikes (nine significant) to Hendricks' 15 (four significant). Two takedowns for GSP and a good control in the clinch. Only close Round was Round 1 - Hendricks 27 total strikes to GSP's 26. GSP, landed 19 significant strikes to Hendricks 18. Both fighters landed one takedown. GSP attempted one submission. Round 1 was close, very close. But looking at the criteria judges are asked to mark each round on, I can understand the round going to GSP. Johny Hendricks needs to man up and stop making excuses, rather look at the reality of his fights and his weight cuts. It seems like a strange coincidence he started losing punching power, having fight and weight problems once USADA started testing...

    @@primeDecomposition Boo-boos in the face don't count in the score card. GSP won rounds 1, 3 and 5. The submission attempt was what gave round 1 to GSP and Hendricks ran out of gas after round 4 trying to knock GSP. Clearly GSP won rounds 3 and 5, and Hendricks 2 and 4. Round 1 was given to GSP because they counted the grappling as criteria.

    nobodies talked to much about it but the decline of Hendrix was ped's I strongly believe. they gave him not only a shredded physique but also to plow through weight cuts and still perform. Ever since USADA stepped in his whole world crumbled , I feel the same for RDA , Vitor , Silva many others who fell apart. once ya hit gear , perform unreal and then go to nothing ??? minds totally fucked , energy is tough to gain back the right focus. I strongly believe he was gearing up for fights and had a system to beat the dope tests. many do it , I'm a reformed user myself. he's never been the same. His intensity is gone also.

    I watched that fight over and over again and I score it for GSP Everytime. I gave GSP rounds 1, 3, & 5. if you think Hendricks won I have no issue. but I also feel like alot of people who said they did either didn't like GSP or jumped on the Hendricks won bandwagon because some people were saying it. these are just my thoughts. everyone's entitled to their own opinion. but at the end of the day GSP was right that only what the 3 judges thought was important.

    Wonderboy444 I was right there with you when I watched the fight. It definitely was close, but I scored it the exact same way. It really didn’t help with Dana saying to the press “its about damage!”, which was a super weird comment to make considering the fights have always been scored by points, and never been scored by damage. The argument of “look at the other guy’s face!” is also a nonstarter, because many fighters who have absolutely dominated the fights have ended the fights looking worse than their opponents. The Diaz brothers have really sharp brow ridges that tend to cut really easily. GSP looked like a bloody mess after then Bisping fight, but he was crushing Bisping. Dana kept arguing “it’s a fight!”, but 5 seconds later would call the UFC a “sport”. The reality is is that its a “fighting sport” which means that sporting elements are implemented into the fighting, and that includes a points system. If you’re unhappy with that statement, and say that that’s not the kind of UFC you want to watch, well tough. Thats what it is and always has been. Reality doesn’t change because of your feelings.

  • @kristofszekeres1375

    @kristofszekeres1375

    @@Koichiizumi Maybe I will never get a reply, but here is the real problem with the 10 points must system. If you barely won a round in a fight, you will get a 10-9 round. If the other guy won the next round with a mile ahead of you, beat the crap out of you, but no knockdown, he will get the same 10-9 as you get. I gave it to Hendricks, I watched the fight a lot of times, and this is the reason. Maybe lets say GSP won 3 rounds from 5, but he barely won those 3 rounds, but Hendricks beat him up with a mile in the other 2. So In my opinion it is not that fair to say GSP won. Okay, he won on scorecards, but....You know what I mean.

  • @Koichiizumi

    @Koichiizumi

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@kristofszekeres1375 I understand your point, but the 10-8 rule is something that has only started to be implemented this last month, and the UFC has never really had a different system in place. The GSP - Hendricks fight was almost 8 years ago. With all due respect, if we are judging how to score that fight at that time, I think it would be illogical and unrealistic to try to argue that Hendricks won based on rules they use now, or rules they have never used. Hendricks, Dana White, the fans, everyone knew what the rules were. They knew the rules before the fight started, during the fight, and after the fight. If Hendricks and his corner knew he was losing based on rounds, yet thought, “Oh, the judges will give it to us cause our guy beat him up worse as a whole...” then that is a poor awareness of the sport they are competing in, and a fatal error in judgement that cost them the match. But your post seems to be more about your issues with the 10 point scoring system. Is the 10-8 system a better system to use to score fights? Only time will tell. There are going to be pro’s and con’s to every system. For example, the difference between a 10-8 round vs 10-9 round could be extremely subjective. Will the system be biased towards pressure fighters vs defensive counter strikers? Will a wrestler laying on top of someone an entire round without throwing a strike be considered 10-8? What if the person on the bottom is doing more damage from his bottom position (Sanchez vs Guida)? How will that differ based on people’s views of what should be considered “control” in a fight? However, I understand that any fights going forward will be scored under the 10-8 rule for the foreseeable future. If GSP and Hendricks were to have that same fight under today’s rules, today, I would not argue that Hendrick’s should be the winner.

    @@Koichiizumi yeahh, you right. IDK for sure, but if I remember well, maybe the PRIDE used a system which scored the fight in total damage, or something like that. That would do the trick maybe, but it would be much harder for the judges to count everything after a fight.

I can see how a lot of people thought he beat GSP, but it was far from a robbery. Hendricks is also notorious for making a lot of excuses when he loses and botching his own weight cuts with bad habits (and then blaming it on others). BUT I respect what he has accomplished and his surprising level of skill as a striker. I think I can start to root for the guy, especially now that he's one of the little guys in the MW division. You didn't win the fifth round, old buddy, and that's probably the reason you lost the decision, all things considered. He finished strong, he landed more total strikes, got one more takedown, had one submission attempt, he was the champ, and you're dealing with a clumsy ten point must system. Johny legitimately committed the fabled sin of "leaving it in the hands of the judges" and paid big time for it. Under PRIDE FC or ONE FC rules he never would have lost that fight in a million years. PRIDE had a handful of bad decisions of ten years but this fight played out clear in its judging/scoring criteria: 1. Ippon, the effort to finish a fight (Johny in round two) and 2. Accumulated Damage (Johny by clear visual observation and by more significant strikes). In my opinion this is one of the top fights to use to show why need to abandon the ten point must system completely and switch over to something organic for MMA and not an outdated boxing system.

    @morbidcorpse Was a clear win in paper, and Hendricks was aware of the of the score system. You can hurt someone one in 2 rounds but you need to win 3 rounds in order to win a fight. GSP rounds 1, 3 and 5, and Hendricks rounds 2and 4, nobody was robbed.

    At the moment the fight between Hendrick's and Tyron is a pretty much foregone conclusion. Also the second fight between himself and GSP doesn't feel like we will get what we would've gotten several years ago. It is a shame as it was intriguing. I still would like to see the fight between himself and GSP as the first fight back from GSP.

    Once USADA came into the picture his career did go downhill but I dont think he was using peds. At that time u were able to use an I.V. to recover so most fighters weren't cutting weight the right/smart way. The weight cuts were a huge factor into his demise

    Did he just come out of the mist for this or what? It sucks to see this guy in total decline at this point, he was a super exciting fighter. I just remember when he lost to GSP he made so many excuses and accusations and it was just too much for me. I he had good reason to be upset about that decision against GSP and I personally think he won that fight. He had a lot of close decisions. Now he looks like shit in these fights and he can't make weight. I don't know I really don't wanna shit on the guy but hell the excuses make me think his head isn't in it anymore.
