I have 13 necromunda gangs ( sort of)....er Orlocks, Delaques, Goliaths, Spirers, orks ,imp guards as stand in Van sars, genestealers, beastmen, I have Cawdors but I used them as a chaos cultists and every type of scum and bounty hunter mostly conversions a couple of ratskins I forget the others that I have I'll have to dig them out and put them on here, I never bothered with the Eshers , my favourite gang however was the scavies, I didn't use the scavie models I used skaven instead, the necromunda underhive was just perfect and crying out for giant mutant rat/humans ...cheers now

You absolutely MUST do a retromunda campaign that would be awesome. This was my fav GW game from way back when. I still have the terrain from this box, me and my son(he's 12, the same age i was roughly when this came out) use it for 40k etc I remember it being being so cool to actually have themed terrain to play with. Great video Guy, a real trip down memory lane for me
Oh my. The terrain in this box has so much nostalgia. So simple and effective. Retromunda FTW!
Those plastic bulkheads are still a cracking bit of terrain. "Hoof people off tall buildings." :D :D :D
My god, they actually showcased the Chaos Dwarves as half of the big fantasy setpiece in their brochure? I think that might have actually been the pinnacle of their importance to Games Workshop! Look at those glorious hats!

Midwinter Minis nah not a hero! Just what you do for family!
I got started with wargaming at age 12 with the 2nd edition 40k boxed set, but this boxed set really made me fall in love with the genre. I still keep every faction in the original box with the card and bulkhead buildings. Outlander gangs, ash waste nomads, and tons of converted figures. I also used house rules commonly available online for vehicles like motorcycles. This was my rabbit hole and still captures my imagination WAY more than the new version of either Necromunda or 40k. It was the investment I had in the gang I bought (Van Saars at first) and following their story from one fight to another kept my attention and kept me involved in the campaigns.
Huh, I've just realized that the two metal minis I found and cleaned up a while ago are actually old Delaque gangers. There you go, Guy, these videos can be classed as educational!

I am in the U.S. and have a games workshop an hour away! Because of you, Guy and Penny, I will be purchasing and starting my own collection very soon! Thank you for all the awesome tutorials and tips and tricks. Strong move making this your career Guy, I’m sure your father would be very proud, because your fans sure are!
Oh my god! The amount of bowlcuts in that picture brought tears of 90's nostalgia in my eyes.
I absolutely love these retro videos! This was the era of GW I started in and seeing these unboxing videos gives me the same excitement and enthusiasm I remember when I first opened my copies. I definitely believe, in spite of their flaws, Necromunda and Gorkamorka were the best games GW made. The focus being on customizing and being creative really set the tone for how I play and experience the hobby.
Between this and Blood Bowl, I think it's my personal GW golden age. The contemporary White Dwarf articles really nailed the pulp/western sci-fantasy feel of the game perfectly. All six (initial) gangs are fantastically designed, all the add-ons actually fit well too. Great video!
I just started the hobby and painted half my box of Rubric Marines. Your vids have helped me out a lot with my journey and taught me how to paint minis. Thanks!
When you mentioned "stupidity", I had a visceral flashback to my first few games, and how frustrating it was when my Kroxigors just wouldn't Charge the enemy Greatswords. I completely forgot that was a mechanic, man, your videos bring me back to what I enjoyed in the hobby.
Do I have a whole 20 mins to spare in my day to listen to Guy swooning over OG Necromunda? Seeing as Guy's 'How to Play' videos literally taught me how to tabletop, sure, only for you Guy!

Guy, this is it, I never thought I could enjoy your content more and yet here we are. This is such a great video, absolutely wonderful. It was so good I watched it again right after.
Wundarbar! I love your retro unboxings and painting videos the most- It's almost a nostalgia overload!
I am completely here for a RETROMUNDA series. I loved that game so much, and I completely missed the release of the living rulebook and community editions. Thanks so much for bringing them into my life!
Oh my God, these retro nostalgia trips are so good I save them for after work and a couple of beers in. The feeling is indescribable.
I still have two Necromunda boxes and 5 old gangs. The scenografy was stunning back then and very useful.
Joke's on you. I prefer long-form videos.
Yes! Please! 90s Necromunda content- count me in for that in 2021!
Would love to see a retro unboxing of Titan Legions. I think out of all the GW stuff I've collected, TL impressed me the most with the sheer amount of STUFF they crammed into that box! And the way the Imperator and Mega Gargant were basically games unto themselves with their absolutely MASSIVE datacards (The Imperator's is the size of the entire box!) designed to place troop stands on them for boarding actions and in the case of the Gargant, moving Grots around to fight fires, was just absolutely brilliant.
This version of Necromunda is one of my favourite games ever. I've still got my thick compilation rulebook on my shelf. Fantastic stuff.
Thank you for making this video. I remember being a teenager and watching this played in the games store by the pros who hung out there.
This is nostalgia for me in the extreme. I'm like you, Necromunda was by far my favourite game to play back in the 90s. You got the feel of 40k, without needing to bankrupt my parents trying to build a 2000 point army. The progression and campaign systems were super fun, even if I only ever played with my brother.
I used to love playing Necromunda (as well as blood bowl) with my older brothers as a kid. Loved having my own gang and seeing how they evolved over time, even if they picked up injuries making them worse. It's something that's stayed with me throughout games I play. In D&D my characters will always have negative aspects or difficulties they overcome because it makes gameplay more enjoyable. Huge fan of your content Guy, it's opened up so many youtubers to me (miniac, goobertown, squidmar to name but three) and I've really improved my own hobby skills, in large part just by doing more and not being immobilised by fear that the end product won't be "perfect". Keep making videos, I'll keep watching!
This was one of the first wargame I ever played as a kid with my dad, bringing me waaaay back top memories i forgot i had.
just funny how just a few days ago my friends and I decided to start a necromunda campaign and this video is a great help for a new comer!
I'm so glad I got into this hobby. So many lovely people. Such a lovely community! Incredible content creators. And you. Thanks for all these, well, comfy videos!
Back in the 90’s Retromunda and Epic was my start of wargaming... I’ve hade a long brake, but starting up again... fun to see this, it brings black lots of memories.
I really really enjoy these retro unboxings! Takes me right back to my childhood. Pls keep them coming!
I have been into 40k during the 4th-5th edition back in the days as a Tau player. Had to stop playing for financial and life reason but kept my army. I recently dug up the whole thing cause my best friend talked to me about kill team. Now i have an up and running squad(not all painted sadly). Your from scratch Necromunda gangs made me think of that. Great boardgames started to spawn mostly from mid 80's to early 90's and i think its when modern hobbies took shape... And here we are hobbyist and proud to be... Thanks for your wonderful video!
Retromunda was my first ever TTG way back in the day and a true love was born!
Maaaaaannnnn... This is nostalgia shot directly in the veins. This was my first miniature game and still one of my favorites. Thanks for this video!
WOOHOO!!! I just bought some orlock and cawdor metal gangers, the older sculpts are truly amazing !!
This video is amazing. So much of my childhood is wrapped up with that box. Thank you, Guy.
Retromunda was the game of my childhood! I played 40k, blood bowl, heroquest, fantasy battle, epic etc but this game just sums up everything that was perfect back then. I n ran two different orrlok gangs, one called the cowboys. I remember I played a scenario where zombie hoards filled the underhive, it was released in a white dwarf issue, and it was their last stand as I lost every model bar 1.. The gang leader, with dual hotshot laspistols.... left in the grimdark, fighting off the corpses of his fellow gangers.
Thanks for making this video! Necromunda is probably my favorite game still. Some of my best memories are from playing this old version back in the day. The campaign rules were so fun!
I love this channel, it's so engaging. Irony is, I'm not a wargamer. I used to collect citadel miniatures in the 80's, but never used them for gaming. Congratulations MM on a great channel.
3:14 There it is. This was my first ever GW thing I owned and what got me started into this Hobby!
Oh, wonderful timing. Just bought the game seconds ago after getting home, to be greeted by this a minute later
Love the retro unboxing series! Please make more!
Ah yes! We've played Inquisimunda (inquisitor theme, based on the Necromunda mechanics) sooo much. One of my all-time favourite games indeed. Great video! I hope you manage to start a campaign!
Possibly GW's finest moment. Also an early example of the "insert a levelling system into everything" school of game design done well.

Why would I not want to listen to 21 minutes and 24 seconds of your soothing voice and background music. I don't even know what you were talking about, I just wanted to listen 😉
I literally found a box of Space Crusade in the attic when I moved house 3 years ago. The Chaos Marines are going into my death guard, and the grots and orks are going into my Green skin army! Amazing find. Edit: Also I love the gang at 00:52, a team of beefy mutants and then at the front 'Jeff', who's leader solely thanks to his trusty cricket bat and enormous balls.
Great video! Re: the list of influences at 1:40, presumably Judge Dredd is the biggest one, even down to some of the language used (e.g. "juves"). Although cyberpunk is a vast genre!
I wish more terrain like that was available now, so much variation in how to assemble it and so easy to store!
This was amazing. I hope you do a video on how to paint the models in this retro style and how people can build a replica of this terrain at home. Looking forward to the next video. Keep up the good work.
I unboxed mine a few years ago after 20 years packed away to find I had somehow acquired a whole extra kit and another 20 bulkheads. One of my best finds in the hoard of hobby shame. The terrain is just so useful.
Great video guy! I can't believe you called all those gorgeous old sculpts ugly though!!

Man this takes me back, I loved my Spyre gang, The legends. Had so much fun killing for fun through the underhive preying on the lesser houses..... God that makes me feel old 😂😂
As a long term, 20 year 40k player, this is wild great content! Thank you
I love the old Necromunda. And used to play in campaigns at our local shop. Another thing to mention is that there were several sets of alternative rules in the magazines they used to have for the game. Including rules for Chaos cultists. Just as there were magazine's for Mordhiem. Excellent stuff. Totally glad that I have managed to keep, protect, and even add to my original Necromunda stuff. I do have some of the new game. But I just haven't fell in love with it as much yet.
I lo ved Necromunda and Mordheim back in the day. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

Ill watch that RETROMUNDA Campaing, no doubt in my heart!
Looks like a fun game. You could likely reproduce it today using the PDF, Miniatures you have on hand and home made structures. Would love to see a battle report.
And here I am, having just yesterday bought an escher and a goliath gang in order to start playing with friends. Thanks for the tip on the rulebook! From what I have read, retromunda seems to be more fun.
Please don't stop with this awesome content🙏
I started back into the hobby as an adult with "Shadow War Armageddon," which was more like Necromunda than anything else, and even though I invested heavily in 8th edition "Kill Team," I get nostalgic for ammo checks and scatter templates-- there's an undeniable excitement to the random elements. (Hysterically, I too saw the 2d nature of the revival and was turned off, same as you!) My one true blue opponent and I settled on "foam children's blocks" as a way to quickly create quirky 3d ruined cityscapes for our games of Shadow War.
Total blast from past! We had that game and 40k and we ended up playing Necromunda a lot more because of the campaign. With the Goliaths we often gave the knife guys shot guns, why not?
Without a doubt, the best background music of any channel. Content is great too 😆
I would watch the heck out of a Retromunda campaign on this channel!
Wonderful. The game that got me into the hobby, all those years ago. I still have my old Cawdor gang and the books. So what's the next retro unboxing? Gorkamorka is clearly right up your street.
My word the scenery in that set is some of the best ever. The memories! I'm down for some Necomunda campaigning! The Neon Dolls need to get out more :D
Your retro content gives me melancholy nostalgia feels 😍
Still one of my all time favourite games. So many funny stories came out of games of this. Good times
The world needs a Retromunda painting video :D
This was the last boxset I bought before I dropped out of the hobby (came back recently, God I'm old now), but I was obsessed. Just couldn't find anyone to play with. I'm all in on a Retromunda revival. Recently joined a group of old school players who have come back into the hobby & the narrative campaigns we have planned would work perfectly
Those old orlock models are awesome! They'd make awesome conscripts
Loved Necromunda! Had the core game and Outlanders along with some characters, a favourite of which was "Mad Donna Ulanti". I ran a veteran Orlock gang that had been through a few scrapes. Had some epic scuffles with my friends goliath and Cawdor gangs. Good Times!
You sir, make amazing videos! Another top quality production.
Couldn't agree more Guy, one of the best! I only watched people play back in the day but was really lucky to find a group paying the community edition available on Yaktribes. In about 18 months I've been able to put together a pretty deadly Escher Gang called "The Babyslitters Club" and also have Delaque, Ratskin and Spyrer gangs. It's great to just throw yourself into without buying a million books and cards - can't recommend it enough to other gamers here!
