mine ots show very vey low brightness even if u put On or increase brightness

I used to obsessively watch iPod Touch 2G unboxing videos back in '08-'09 when I was 14. I had this dream of owning it, but my dad couldn't afford to buy it for me. So, I waited until I was old enough to work and saved up to purchase it myself. I remember crying, hoping he'd get it, but it wasn't feasible. Every time I stumbled upon a new unboxing video for that iPod, it was a big deal for me, like my go-to content. Oh my childhood. Lol

Perfect for just hooking it up to the stereo and having your music play to this day.

Mine is literally just for music on my surround sound system. I polished the housing, fixed it up, new battery and it runs so well!

Purchased mine back in march 2020, this was my first old iPod touch I’ve purchased in 2020 and I’m still using it today, works like a charm and still is giving me good times for my music

I am still using mine, purchased in 2008! The only iPod I've ever bought! Battery lasts forever!!

I purchase mine (IPod Touch 2G [storage: 8 GB]) back in June 2010 for my daughter. I came across it again (April 2024) in a box while doing spring cleaning. I will bring it back in rotation of use because you gave useful information on my retro IPod 2G. Thank You so much!!!

Yes - iPod 2 is still useful for file manager (Air Sharing v2.9.1 and iFiles v1.9.3) from old apps download from iTunes in 2009 until Apple removed App store from iTunes.

Found my dad's old work iPod earlier this month. Came here to see if it was worth keeping and was not disappointed.

It's still a cool iPod!

Legendary. Still using mine till this day, and it's battery literally been lasting days. What a time these years were, espically when this came out. Despite it being a bit outdated, it still gets the job done for a majority of things, and the memories it bring is amazing. One of the best there was.

All honesty, highly doubt it can install it since, the app store/itunes store ain't supported anymore, and even the weather app does not work. Few years back you could still install games, but nowadays thats pratically all gone. Best of luck man.

Oh my I remember when I got this for my birthday when it was fairly new back in the day every one of my friends had iPhones and I thought it was the coolest thing ever so when I got the iPod Touch I remember my friend getting one sometime later and we would be all over Myspace with it getting new songs finding new cool games to play I might just pick one up and throw my library on it just to have that sweet coverflow when you turn the device sideways and use it as a backup music player great video I've definitely subscribed thanks for bringing back good memories

@@TweitenTech I also happened to find an iPod classic 5th generation with about 1700 songs on eBay that still works good. It's even older than the iPod touch, from 2005. Its a shame that Apple no longer makes regular iPod like the iPod classic and iPod nano. If you have a collection of downloaded songs, then nothing is more convenient than an old ipod.

@@matthewsloan2938 I guess at first, Bluetooth was only available for iPhone but apparently Apple uses the same logic board for iPod touches just with the cellular chip omitted but they figured to leave the Bluetooth chip in. I still use my iPod touch 2 today and it still works with any new Bluetooth speakers or headphone.

I had one of these as a kid, lots of good memories!

I searched for this video because I just found my 2nd gen ipod touch! I have a 30pin adapter that goes straight to a tv, so I sometimes use it to watch movies and shows on my tv.

Great video wasn't expecting this to be covered in 2021 but good to see it. This video persuaded me to dig out my old iPod touch (2nd Gen and 4th Gen). They work fine and I'm even doing a battery test on my 4th gen which has been playing music non stop for the past 38 hours and it has only just hit the 20% battery warning. Completely useable as an mp3 player in 2021! XP

I've been using my 2nd generation ipod touch as a music player for about a few months like the day after I watched this video I have some old games on it from 2010 and 2011 and I've been putting some songs I ripped from CDs My dad made like 11 years ago from 2011 with his friend also have been buying some music from iTunes mostly older music from the 1980s to 2013

I just bought an iPod Touch 2nd gen and a fancy Sony Speaker Dock for $20! Both are in excellent shape. Looking forward to seeing how useful it is in 2023.

Just found my old iPod touch from middle school with the charger too how lucky this video helped a lot thank dude!!

I just got one today from a cex as it had been sitting in the cabinet for literally weeks, love it so far and is fun to compare to my 6g touch and then iphone 3g i have which is basically almost the same as it

I remember jailbreaking mine to enable the Home Screen wallpaper and multitasking on iOS 4. It lagged, but I still kept it like that 🤣

still use mine for music in the car.. or at holiday locations via bluetooh speaker. great that ist has the 3 , 5 mm jack out. battery still runs okay.

I have used mine for music pretty much every day since I bought it new. The apps are no use, but iTunes still works like a charm. It's built like a tank and the batteruy lasts for a good 3 days even when using it!

I'm a sound engineer, I have a 2nd gen Ipod and I use it still today to send background music between sets. The battery is still great and it's way better than using a phone or a pc to play music.

There's about 25 games on my touch, its only 8gb. My favourite was plants vs zombies. It's like going back in time, they haven't been updated for around 12 yrs.

I recently broke out my 2nd gen iPod touch and I’ve been letting my son listen to whatever music was on there. I love that we’re still getting use out of the thing. Then I connected it to a PC with iTunes to see if I could put some new music on it. It connected fine and I have it set to “manage manually”. I logged into my iCloud/Apple Music subscription and I downloaded some songs. When I click and drag a song onto the device, it looks like it’s gonna work but then nothing happens. Any thoughts on that? How were you able to get songs on there? Thanks!

honestly for the sole purpose of playing music and it has bluetooth makes it still 100% useable as a mp3 player

is it possible that you can Install other apps that supports it software before, like Zenonia 2 in it?

My very first iOS device..my brother bought it for me way back in October 2008.

In 2009 I got it as a gift, studied it a bit and concluded that my Sony Ericson k810i is better because it has a camera. I have an iPod even now, it lies delayed and unused.

Loved the video! it's fun to watch you walk through a piece of history so important to mobile computing. The iPhone 12 is at least 100x faster than a 2nd gen iPod in computing power alone. It just has a clock speed that is 6x faster.

I just got an ipod touch 2gen but my laptop can't detect it... I desinstalled iTunes, reinstalled it, looked for a driver for the ipod touch 2 gen but nothing... beside that I have an ipod shuffle that synchronize with my laptop but doesn't charge anymore

I remember getting one of these back in 2010 for my birthday, good times.

Hmm. You might be able to transfer the photos to a computer if you plug the iPod into a Mac or PC.

Great info, I have a question hoping you may have an answer. I have a 1st. Gen touch that has a solid gray icon on the Home Screen any ideas how to remove it ? Thank you !

Try plugging it into your computer and seeing if you can somehow remove it that way. Otherwise I’m not sure. You can try rebooting the device, or factory resetting it. That is a strange issue!

I got this free with the purchase of a MacBook. My MacBook is now long defunct but my iPod touch still lives and i still use it for my musics!

Leave it plugged in and cross your fingers. If that doesn’t work, try a different cable or power adapter. If all that fails, the battery might be faulty 🙁

How do I download apps on it?

Try connecting it to your computer and restoring it. Otherwise, I'm not sure. You could try bringin it to an apple store, but I don't know if they will work on such and old device.

Just found one at a yard sale for $5 and it’s clean… now I have a iPod for my Honda Goldwing sad that you can’t use the internet, KZread, or iTunes on it anymore

I remember getting one for my 9th birthday back in 2011. I got the ipod touch 4 next. Both still work but the ipod 4 has some dead pixels in the corner of the screen.

You should be able to. AirPods can connect to any Bluetooth device 😁. Just hold down the button on the back of the AirPods case.

Have one and still use it for music and have a Bose speaker that make ths music sound great.

Roughly $280 in todays money is actually indicative of how expensive iOS devices are now…. The iPod touch was on par with the iPhone’s of the time without the phone or camera. Imagine being able to buy a brand new iPhone 13 that was just missing the cell service and camera for only $280. Also yes, I loved the iPod Touch back in the day and when I made my KZread account in 08’ I named it after my favorite piece of tech hahaha.

Go to settings (the wheel icon) and chose auto update. Connect the device to WiFi network and update. There is update limitation obviously, it dropped support years ago.

Got mine on eBay for $10. Still works great. If you jailbreak them, you can put old apps on these if you download the ipa files. I also have a old iPhone 3GS. Back before AT&T shut down the 3G network, I’d sometimes put my sim in there & use it. People would always ask me what iPhone that was. Most people only know the iPhone 4 & up.

these are the only devices that are compatible with my factory honda radio for touchless operation. I have no bluetooth unless i buy a $150 adapter and even then i still need to use my phone to operate skip functions...but a $28 ipod touch works with my USB plug in just fine. its a product of its era

I use to use this iPod in my 96 Pontiac Grand AM! Worked like a charm. It’s a great device to listen to music in older cars 😁

I bought my iPod 2 it was in good condition and I delivered to a jewelry for polishing ..it looks amazing!! remember the iPod was made for listening music!!

you could get 64 gb, mine is 32gb, my cousins was 64gb... the problem im having is i only have a 3rd party cable, which it charges when its completely flat, but when it turns on, it gets rejected

The film wouldn't be displayed at 480p, that's the vertical screen size, but when in landscape it's 320...

What Operating System are you using? I was using a Mac with the latest version of MacOS. My computer was able to recognize it. Also, remember that iTunes is not a thing anymore. Apple replaced iTunes with Apple Music, so that could be your problem too 😁

My iPod still works in 2023

I struggle to be impressed by the leaps in processor or ram over time, this is bound to happen... from a tech enthusiast perspective I think it is more interesting to reflect that iPhone and iPads have had very low Ram installed compared to Android for ages, the iPhone 6 had 1Gb only still, iPhone 7-8 had 2Gb. 6Gb is the minimum to have a decent Android 12 experience X_X

I'm not sure. I don't think the App would run on hardware this old, but you might be able to access the Facebook's website. via the Safari browser.
