I just saw Yankee Tango in Frankfurt last week, June 20th. It was preparing for a flight to ORD. It was super cool to see it in person. What a workhorse! IMO the most famous 747 in the world!

The filming is just awesome. Lufthansa's 1970ies livery does credit to the timeless elegance of the sovereign of the skies. The only remark I would have to make: it would have been perfect if LH had also included their bare metal polished underbellies from the original livery.

Saw this bad boy at Haneda mid April this year. My Cousin who was taking it back to Frankfurt got confused why Lufthansa was using a very old 747 on a busy route like Haneda-FRA lol Until we saw the engine housing with chevron, we realized that it was the newer 747-8i in a classic paint job!

Would be interesting but unnecessary. As just one of those could support the aircraft in flight. At least for the 747-100 GE used

Look up GE9x, you will see GE has put one of the new 777x engines on a 747 test plane.

Bob Guzman yes sadly it is why take the best airplane that was and not use rebuild etc.. I flew on one twice I love it Lufthansa has it down!
