Neat build - perfect for entertaining. I'd use it every year at our block party! I can't believe how big she got! I remember when you guys adopted her and your first video with her.

You're a good man Mr. Jay Bates! Will probably never need the cooler stand (we don't entertain) but holy cow I can't tell you how much I enjoy your channel. And a side note, you can tell that your daughter loves you and you love her. Be a good dad and husband and the rest is just fluff!

I think another version of the cooler could have a larger shelf compartment, with a slide out drawer that holds a second cooler for meats and stuff so that you dont have cross contamination.

If you have small kids, you may want to consider the anti slam feature use with toy chests. Wouldn't want any smashed fingers

He has a safety ball cap on, it works in a similar way to Colin Furze’s safety tie.

Great build Jay. I’m putting up a little outdoor cooking shed this summer so a smaller version of this cooler build might be in my future. Thanks for the inspiration!

Nice build. I made one a bit more rustic from a bunch of cedar fence slats a few years ago and gave it away.

TK needs a juice box sized version.

That is a very nice piece. I like the old-timely look and paint scheme. You could, if you want later, add a vertical version that houses a mini or midi fridge using the same scheme. Better screws for that hinge would be either Spax or come from McMaster Carr and you'd have less worry about stripping out the heads.

I have a Shirley Fabrication offset smoker and it's got one mounted to it. I've never used it so I didn't think it was necessary to add to the cooler box. I can count on one hand the number of times I've used a bottle opener in my life.

Maybe a soft close hinge?

Gotta put some oil on that hinge. 😂

I just want to know if you oiled that hinge haha

A small suggestion would be to add flaps to the sides of the opening for better access to the cooler handles.

@@JayBates I thought it might help when trying to pull the partially loaded cooler out of the box and pulling it from the side walls won't offer the necessary grip. Please, do let us know how that use case turns out. Cheers!

Yes it is. Once you go low angle with pocket hole screws it's hard to go back..

I've built several coolers. All have a lower shelf. I have it spaced so additional cases of water/beer/ or other drinks will fit underneath. Afterall, it is a cooler. :)

We have plenty of storage in the sink island cabinet. This cart fals into the "grab and go" usage category so a shelf is more fitting in my opinion.
