    Thanks heaps Gary 🥹 the bell is so rad haha, always liked bells seen from the side view too for some reason 🤷‍♂️ definitely do it! Will be rad to see, some people have used thumbies to pull them but the dropper lever is smaller 👌 I can send a chunk of seatpost over 😂👌

    Super love this build, like most of yours. If you want a neat little trick, throw a V brake on the fork and hook it up with a friction shifter or lockout lever to use as a parking brake. Works super great for that and you can sorta hide the shifter somewhere if you want. it doubles as a security measure in case someone tries to ride off with it. I''m in love with that remote bell setup, its so silly and extraneous and fun

    Hello from Whangarei gateway to the noughty north, myself and a friend watch your builds and enjoy them heaps, we do similar builds up here mostly retro modern, I'm more into the urban/commuter builds and my friend mostly does them as gravel bikes, my channels messy with not much to see but will clean it up and just do basic "walk arounds" of our builds,we have some beauties' and rarities waiting to build up, your fixed gear build took me by surprise as I love fixed and ss builds, keep it up

    😳subbed.. Because I'm currently building my daily unicorn, a pink ,purple and lime green 20inch folding shopper bike . Frame ,gears and vbrakes are from a brand new cheap Argos bike "challenge Holborn ' I'm fitting gt bmx flat land bars and hubs and it's having front and rear racks to mount two Aldi shopping baskets ,then I get a third basket that I paint to match the bike and make it obvious that it's mine, then I can go and do my shopping and when I get back to my bike the basket just slides into the one mounted on the back and I might move some of the lighter stuff into the front but then when I get home I just carry my basket inside.. It's life changing😂 any excuse to pop the shops these days 👍 your bike is just friggin sassy bud 👌mint

    That Duramax clear is fantastic and well priced. The Duramax paint is great too. Flows really nicely. That clear reacts with the Dulux metal shield spray paints though……. I learnt that the hard way and had to strip a bike back.

  • @toastyrides

    @toastyrides

    5 ай бұрын

    Agreed, it sprays really nicely! Nice even coat pretty easily. Oh woah I hadn’t tried the clear over their metal shield, good to know it reacts! Did you just leave the metal shield as the top coat, then?

  • @Anthiron

    @Anthiron

    5 ай бұрын

    @@toastyrides I ended up speaking to Dulux about it. They basically said that the metal shield is pretty hardy and you can get away without a clear but then he admitted the real reason was that they hadn’t been able to get a chemical makeup of a clear that was effective and didn’t react with the paint.

    @@toastyridesI've seen people weld and decided it must be easy cause it looked easy 😅 welding some random metal basket that may have nothing to do with cycling to an old steel frame for a frame mounted front basket could be fun right? Or perhaps just 2 curved rails for a front rack. Perhaps using fork legs from a free old fork. Angle grinder. Welding machine thing. Mask. Not free but you got what you got

  • @toastyrides

    @toastyrides

    Thank you! Glad you learned something here, there are kickstand plates but they aren’t entirely necessary on steel frames. Alloy frames need them though or you’ll crush the tubes too easily/fatigue them over time

    I bought a HardRock today in Oz and have a plan to do similar. What size stem did you go for? the one the donor came with is huge and feels odd before putting fork on.

  • @toastyrides

    @toastyrides

    5 ай бұрын

    Ooh nice, I’m loving mine. This stem is about 90mm I think, but would depend on your fit to the bike. 90mm is a good starting point though, trial a cheap-ish stem then go from there. Most old MTB’s have huge stems, which I never tend to use unless I’m using extreme backswept bars like a Nitto Albatross or something.

  • @toastyrides

    Pretty simple, should be able to make one off the video. Just a dropper post lever pulling a gear cable, gear cable goes through the bell with a cable knarp on the end to pull the bell.
