RETIRING In Granbury Texas: Pros and Cons & Expert Advice UNCOVERED! | Living In Granbury Texas 2024

Are you thinking about moving to Granbury Texas and want to know about retiring here?
Today, we uncover everything you need to know about retiring in Granbury Texas! In this comprehensive video, we'll delve into the key factors to consider when contemplating retirement in Granbury Texas.
Firstly, let's explore the pros of retiring in Granbury Texas. As one of the top cities in Texas for retirees, Granbury Texas offers a slower pace of life and a close-knit community feel that many find appealing. With its conservative values and proximity to the Dallas Metroplex, Granbury Texas strikes a balance between tranquility and accessibility to urban amenities. Additionally, the city boasts excellent healthcare facilities and a myriad of entertainment options, including annual events like the renowned wine trail.
Granbury Texas real estate market also presents attractive opportunities for retirees. Premier retirement communities such as De Cordova and Pecan Plantation, as well as various 55+ communities, offer a range of housing options to suit different preferences and budgets. Lake Granbury Texas adds to the allure, providing the perfect backdrop for waterfront living and leisure activities.
However, it's essential to weigh the cons as well. Property taxes in Granbury Texas, while relatively low compared to surrounding areas, may come as a surprise to those relocating from states with lower tax rates. Additionally, commuting to the Dallas Metroplex for work or supplies can be time-consuming, especially during peak traffic hours. The weather, characterized by hot summers and occasional severe storms, is another factor to consider.
Nevertheless, with proper planning and expert advice, retiring in Granbury Texas can be a fulfilling and rewarding experience.

I lived in Stephenville Granbury area in the early 80s while working on the Comanche Peak build. I considered moving back about 10 years ago and looked at homes. It's very expensive now. I found a much less expensive place in northcentral CA. A conservative area.

Im retiring from the Air Force next year, and will be moving to either Granbury or Weatherford areas. Im looking online and it seems tough to get a newish upgraded house (or new construction) with a decent sized yard for under $350k. What areas/neighborhoods should I look for a $300-$350k budget, within 40 min to Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth. Granbury is my preference, been there several times, I’m conservative and looking for a safe conservative area. Thanks.

Saratoga would be my first recommendation. Fort Worth side of Granbury, newer homes, and many are around that 350k price range.

:::News flash:::be careful about your expectations for ‘quality’ health care in Granbury. My family have lived in Granbury since the early 80’s and the only reason some of them are still alive is because of proximity to health care services in Fort Worth. As far as Granbury’s conservative credentials go, there are people from the area that were prominent players in the insurrection and Oath Keepers/Proud Boys. And no state income tax translates into high sales taxes and high property taxes, so ‘no state income tax’ isn’t all that it’s made out to be. I lived in Granbury for several years. It makes me sick to even drive through that town. You can keep it.
