    @@lowflyerxx we lived 4 years in Ajijic in a gated community of mostly expats and we loved it but decided to sell our home and buy a house with our own pool and a larger garden. It is also quieter and much less traffic in this particular community in Chapala and more of a mix of Mexicans and expats.

    Depends on where in the U.S. For a 2 bedroom house, in a similar place I’d doubt it. Plus you have to factor total cost of living not only the cost of housing. Chapala and the surrounding towns are some of the most popular places to live in with retirees. Surely there are places where rentals are less expensive but we want to give a realistic view into the current pricing of Chapala. We know some people have found rentals in the $12-15,000 pesos a month range (600-750 usd) although you’d have to probably do more research to find those 😊

    If you are talking about the prices of housing, as part of "the low cost of living" in the Chapala area, you do need to check real estate listings and possibly put in some caveats. But it's a nice area, and attractive in numerous ways. The climate, for me, is near perfect. I do worry about the cartels in Mexico, and their increasing reach and I would not really feel comfortable driving too far away from the GDL/Chapala corridor. Thanks for the video.

  • @MexicoRelocationGuide

    @MexicoRelocationGuide

    Not sure what caveats you would want but I think the video is pretty straightforward on what’s available - and should be taken as an example 😀 And regarding cartels people have to stop being scared because the media just wants them to be. Thanks for watching!

    Yes Czech citizens can retire or work in Mexico. However, to work in Mexico you either have to get a work permit with your temporary residency through an employer or starting a business Or as a perm resident, you have implied permission to work but you still need to let SAT know and get an RFC.
