@@lowflyerxx we lived 4 years in Ajijic in a gated community of mostly expats and we loved it but decided to sell our home and buy a house with our own pool and a larger garden. It is also quieter and much less traffic in this particular community in Chapala and more of a mix of Mexicans and expats.

I broke my heart, a stent fixed its place. Wishing waves would whisper in my ears and cool ocean spray on my face. Relaxing on the shore with the sun setting and the moon rising high, I give back to the water with the tear from my eyes. Such Beauty my People down Mexico way. By the Grace of God, I will "Acariciar La Piel," of Mexico so
I have family all over lake Chapala. I actually own some Land by ojo de agua. Great place to retire, plus my family is from there.
I’m going to see Chapala on March 17❤

$1,000.00 US DOLLARS a month is very expensive for Mexico, that is comparable to rental prices in the USA...
@MexicoRelocationGuide
Жыл бұрын
Depends on where in the U.S. For a 2 bedroom house, in a similar place I’d doubt it. Plus you have to factor total cost of living not only the cost of housing. Chapala and the surrounding towns are some of the most popular places to live in with retirees. Surely there are places where rentals are less expensive but we want to give a realistic view into the current pricing of Chapala. We know some people have found rentals in the $12-15,000 pesos a month range (600-750 usd) although you’d have to probably do more research to find those 😊

Nice overview and accounting tips. thank you
If you are talking about the prices of housing, as part of "the low cost of living" in the Chapala area, you do need to check real estate listings and possibly put in some caveats. But it's a nice area, and attractive in numerous ways. The climate, for me, is near perfect. I do worry about the cartels in Mexico, and their increasing reach and I would not really feel comfortable driving too far away from the GDL/Chapala corridor. Thanks for the video.
@MexicoRelocationGuide
Жыл бұрын
Not sure what caveats you would want but I think the video is pretty straightforward on what’s available - and should be taken as an example 😀 And regarding cartels people have to stop being scared because the media just wants them to be. Thanks for watching!
I am not hearing that the lake is very polluted, which it is.

@MexicoRelocationGuide

Yes Czech citizens can retire or work in Mexico. However, to work in Mexico you either have to get a work permit with your temporary residency through an employer or starting a business Or as a perm resident, you have implied permission to work but you still need to let SAT know and get an RFC. Yes. Of course you can. That issue is only a problem in a building with either old plumbing or not good water pressure
I find $900 USD (1225 CAD) expensive...I pay $1100 a month for my nice 2 bedroom apt including heat, electricity and parking here Canada in a community of about 18,000 people. Not sure how locals manage if the rent is that high!

A few years ago I took my SUP way out onto the lake. It's all very very polluted with a toxic bad toilet odor. I would advise never swim, and further never letting your dog play on the shore. It's disturbing to see local or Guadalajara families come on vacation and everyone is playing in the water. Read an article in the New Yorker two years ago exposing 2,000+ industries that dump into the river feeding Lake Chapala

In the video I explain that you can easily find rentals in ranges and one range I give is much lower. But this area is getting saturated by a lot of foreigners no doubt about that. Which increases rents because locals charge more when they see dollars come in

But for some people , Aguascalientes isn’t where they want to live. They want to be in Chapala and can afford a bit more for it. Although I do agree that a lot of places in Mexico can be significantly less expensive. But some people aren’t only looking to lower their expenses. They want the experience of a place they have heard of a lot 😀
