I quite enjoy my Sony SRF-39FP clear radio, found used at eBay a couple years ago $25 with shipping. I think the body is same. I will be getting one of this to compare. I generally think Retekess puts out good products ( I have a handful) also will probably have to get a TR107. Good to see you scan the FM again.

Just ordered one of these after seeing your review and it performs quite well for a fun radio with my sony headphones. Not bad for a £9.99 radio

Sounds a good performer to say how basic it is, interesting how it uses your body’s inductance. The cheaper Tecsun radios are similar, just putting your hand in the right place can bring a radio to life. Nice review 👍🏼

I had to get one just out of curiosity and if I ended up in jail it's a must,,it was less than $10 CDN pesos,it also comes with clear headphones buds and it works great,,,very sensitive to tune in but I don't care,,2 AAA batteries,super simple..I recommend this radio 📻

Hej Todderbert a very cool radio a thought struck me when, I saw this transparent radio it would be cool to build in some neon tubes in this radio. It would be cool with some blinking lights in the dark take care have a nice sunday.

That's a very sparsely component laden radio. I've seen circuits before where multiple components were missing, (due to design), and I wondered why they left so much open space. With that radio, I wonder if they could have made it smaller. Cheers!

They could and did with the TR107: kzread.info/dash/bejne/p6B4u6d_YJfalZM.html , I think eventually they will market this to Correctional Facilities.

You'd think if they were going to make it clear, they'd at least put a few more parts on the front of the board, even if they're not functional. I know most of the circuit is tiny SMD parts on the back side but those aren't as fun to look at!

Several others have said it and can confirm, this model is on commissary in our prison system but under a different brand. I think it’s clear tunes or something. I’ve confiscated a few as a CO for being tampered with, as once an item is altered outside of its intended use it becomes contraband. Quality is ehh but they do work. Sorry for the late reply I’m just getting caught up on my subscriptions.

The SRF-49 is my favorite Walkman.

Now you can see right away when your batteries are leaking :)

Go for the no brainer as always.

I remember that other clear radio from EBay , it had a horrible hiss on the AM band. I’m not a fan of clear plastic radios. Nice review on the retekess radio. 👏🏻👍

Well I have to respect that you give this little radio, but I would like the Sony please. Living with this radio might be like doing time. :D It strikes this could easily be used for promotional use too with some-other-company silk-screening their moniker upon it and handing out at a convention...back when those were a thing. Hopefully soon. 10 dollars smacks of a little margin based on what you get. ;)

Why do you need a clear radio in the bin? Are you even allowed a radio when you locked down?

Yes you can order radios on the canteen. The reason they are clear is so you can't hide things in there.

it is the AGC circuit. Strong Stations are fine.

That company certainly puts out some interesting and refreshing radios. They aren't DXing machines but what I call a "working man's radio" .
