Resurrection of the TaoTao Targa 200 Gocart engine

I found this cute adult style buggy/cart for sale but it didn't run. it didn't even turn over, it just clicked like a locked up engine does.
I got it home for a reasonable price and figured my son and I could rebuild it, hell we can fix anything. We tore it down and low and behold, the timing chain was missing and wound around the crankshaft requiring a COMPLETE tear down just to get to it. We tore it apart and saw A LOT of signs of neglect.....lots of soot and about 3 tablespoons of BLACK oil.
I ordered up all new parts (jug, piston/rings, gaskets, oil pump, starter and starter clutch.
We tore it apart Saturday and felt really good about the rebuild, even tho we had NEVER seem an engine like this ever. I started filling it with oil and we immediately noticed a leak....right in the middle of the crankcase (it has a split case design) so YESTERDAY (Sunday) we tore it all down AGAIN and found the wrinkled gasket but I luckily had a spare so it went on and everything went back together easier since we just had it apart.
I can now say that we are well versed in GY6 components and assembly and she fired right up first crank. My son noticed it was smoking but I assured him it was from all the old oil it had been burning from the previous owner and sure enough, it went away after about 10 minutes or less. She drives super soft with the nice suspension and has plenty of power with the 170cc engine.
Enjoy the short video and I will enjoy the new "toy", it is much cheaper than my other "toys" (DSMs) lol.
An extra special THANKS to my son Trevor, who helped me do it all. He is the small engine specialist, if you want to designate one, that's for sure! I appreciate you son!!!
