Restoring the Sandpiper Intro

Ойын-сауық

Welcome to Restoring the Sandpiper!
In 2015, I made a new sailing buddy. By coincidence, my buddy-to-be and I both had our two nearly identical small sailboats at the same yard, prepping our boats for the same regatta. He’d asked the shop owner for my contact info in order to ask me about my bimini top. I told him he could borrow my top to make a duplicate. After that day, we became fast friends. On a visit to his home after the regatta, we were rummaging through gear when he half jokingly told me about his “boat addiction.” He explained to me how he couldn’t pass up the chance to rescue worthy vessels and that now he had too many! All in varying stages of restoration in various locations around town, he had decided to thin out his collection. He asked me if I wouldn’t mind taking over one of them for him, a 24’ Bahama Sandpiper, a beautiful cat ketch badly in need of some TLC. She’s one of yacht designer Chuck Paine’s early designs from the late 1970’s and she has some very classic lines to her-a true diamond in the rough!
And that’s how I came to own the “Sandpiper.” She presently sits on the hard on a trailer while we work on her. We invite you along on my journey to get her back in the water and sailing again.
