Kanekalon is so beautiful and a sensory dream I love how soft it is...such a shame it's not produced for doll hair anymore. I got a fashion fever barbie recently and redid her hair and it's just so satisfying when it's all smooth again

I usually wet my dolls hair when I brush their hair. I find it easier to brush and more effective tbh! I honestly need to give all my dolls a spa day and this really makes me want to do that 😂 I feel like I get bursts of motivation and want to do everything and that's what I usually do then get burnt out and stop altogether. It's not healthy but I guess it helps getting some stuff done.

Argh! So nostalgic 🥲 long story incoming: I REALLY wanted the Mermaid Fantasy doll as a kid, but we couldn’t afford her at that time. I literally saw the last one in a store every time we went there for groceries. She lost parts of her box and accessories and they never marked her down until one day she disappeared. Anyway, years later I got this doll kind of like in place of the Mermaid Fantasy doll I could never get. I was a lot older then and didn’t really play with her so much as admire her, but her tail still cracked. I accidentally cut a piece of her purple hair off when I unboxed her so she was one of a kind 😆 years later I got all my old dolls from my mum and I didn’t know all the things I know now about restoring them. I rebodied her on my Jewel Girl Teresa who I loved dearly as a kid, but I sold this dolls rebodied, with all the jewel girl accessories and all her fairytopia accessories for like $10 three years ago thinking it would help me save up for different dolls🙄 I had little knowledge of how rare they actually are. I regretted it shortly after. Weirdly enough, I also kept the tag on her arm for a long time. Lately I have been so nostalgic trying to get my childhood dolls back. Unfortunately the Mermaid Fantasy dolls are so expensive and I would need to import them 🥲 these are expensive too and I can only check places like ebay in the US. I recently caved and got another Jewel Girl Barbie, but got hit with shipping fees and tax. She’s so expensive and I haven’t even gotten her yet😵‍💫 but I am excited to open her! Story over.

She looks great. Now I’m more encouraged to fix some of my dolls hair from my Sunshine family, Donny & Marie, and Cher. Have you heard anything about using liquid fabric softener on doll hair? I’ve seen it suggested, but have never restored doll hair.

I have heard very bad things about fabric softener. It can chemically alter the hair I think? I avoid it. It can produce really nice results though

@@xCanadensis Good to know. I’ll stick with conditioner. When I was a kid in the 70’s, my dolls hair would really tweak out. I was always told it was because I got their hair wet in the tub, etc, so my 52 year old brain is trying to understand the fact that you can wash the hair and not ruin it. 😂😂

She's so pretty but i don't really like Kanekalon it feels weird to me tbh like i dont really like how solidly straight it gets

I looove Kanekalon. It’s so satisfying to touch idk why. I like it best with volume or curl though but it’s TOUGH to set curls in it

@@xCanadensis Like the Mattel Blooms hair is somewhat fine to me but i really can't stand the hair type used for Musa(i think it's Kanekalon) like it's so stiff for no reason and i can't really style it

Kanekalon is such a soft and shiny, sadly which is no longer used in modern day Barbie’s that we now see in regular stores 😢Saran and Synatra which is a new hair texture a combination of Saran and Kanekalon

Love watching your restoration videos! These beautiful mermaids are also my grail dolls, especially this pink one! I recently got the blue one and when I went to pick it up the seller said "her hair was messy so i brushed it out for you" 😭 I wanted to cringe! It left it so poofy and dry and washing it didnt help. This tutorial is going to be so helpful next time I wash her 🥰

Omfg the store owner’s daughter said that to me with this doll and I was like 😳 oh… I think it must have been just freshly unboxed with a few flyaways or something but when I got her, it was very damaged. I appreciate the effort though aha

Glad it worked out soo good for you, she is so pretty and such a great find. I personally will avoid any doll with Kanekalon. And I am really sad if I find one with a beautiful face but this hair...I have to now send her for reroot :D But I know a lot of people like it a lot

I wonder if River Styxx from Monster High has this hair type? I didn't use 100° boiling water, it had cooled down a bit but her bangs are fried for some reason? I have no clue how to fix it to be honest

You’re very safe just using warm water and conditioner! Boil washing and ironing is only needed in extreme situations!
