Restoring Mrs. Frick's Boudoir
Xavier F. Salomon, Deputy Director and Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator, takes us behind the scenes into the revitalization of the Boucher Room-one of the most exciting aspects of The Frick Collection’s renovation and enhancement project. Named for its paintings by François Boucher and his workshop, the Boucher Room (formerly installed on the ground floor) is returning to its original location upstairs, where it was once Adelaide Frick’s private sitting room. Visitors can look forward to enjoying the room in its historic space overlooking Fifth Avenue, among the museum’s new second-floor galleries.
To learn more about our renovation and enhancement project, visit www.frick.org/renovation.
The reinstallation of the Boucher Room is overseen by architectural restorers from Traditional Line Ltd.

This is going to be most stunning! Kudos to the Frick for this fabulous project. I so can’t wait to see the restored second floor. Great video!
Xavier, and the Frick videos got me through the worst of Covid, day by day, as I home schooled our then 1st grader...this is thrilling and I will be back to NYC to see this once it is completed. Will probably shed a few tears, just at what the Frick has come to mean to me the last several years. Thank you to all at the Frick, you really did save sanity for me.

Thank you for this very moving comment. I know what you mean because those 'Cocktails with the Curator' also meant a great deal to me during that terrible lockdown period.
The Frick is a treasure. I’m amazed more people don’t know about it.
Have not heard him speak since the end of his pandemic presentations; Felix's voice is forever going to be on my "Covid Madeleine" list.

Yes, it was a great consolation his contributions (and of others of the Frick). On Friday's, I remember

A Right! And I would recognize his voice anywhere - though we don’t exactly move in the same social circles 😂

Omg! Hahaha his voice is THE VOICE. Sometimes I have flashbacks to it and I think WOW. His Pietro Aretino lecture is everything to me.

@@alexandrapasquinelli2291 So who is Felix? Do tell….
The Frick is always a pleasure to visit. It's a small oasis in in New York's investment real estate desert.
I may not be able to make it to New York City to see the Frick Collection there, but I will plan a trip to Pittsburgh to see the Frick Mansion once again. The Fricks have come alive again through the efforts of the curators, its wonderful to meet them and get to know them as real people and not just as characters in history books.
I hope Mr. Xavier Salomon will visit us here in Italy soon. Because of his instructive video presentations, whenever I stop at the San Sebastiano Church in the sestiere of Dorsoduro in Venice, my thoughts go to him. Also, visiting San Pantalon, in the same sestiere, does so as well.
My favourite museum , I am a big Baroque fan so when I discovered the Frick's collection , I was speechless.
Delightful to get some updates on the reconstruction of the house! 🎉🎉🎉 May we please see more?? Plus updates on the addition??
Thank you for sharing this , how splendid it’s going to look . It brought back lovely memories of your wonderful talks during that strange time we all lived through .
It is incredible to see all that must be done to restore the room to its original location. Thank you for the update.

I believe he said that France was its original location.
Thanks for showing us!
Fabulous darling! Love it❤❤❤
FABULOUS 👌 to also see the old caring master crews doing the job they love.
I always thought it was a bit of a shame to use the upstairs for offices. I am very pleased that it is now opening. I will go back as soon as they are done. A trip to NYC is always a good time.

Agreed. Always eyed that staircase as a bit of a tease.
Great to have an update on the work being completed at the Frick. Looking good!
It’s going to be sublime!
Beautiful to bring memories from the past, in modern times. Taking care of all details and bringing back the porcelain is like giving more character to the museum. Which by the way, owns beautiful master works porcelains and exquisite carpets.
How exciting! 🤗
If you haven't, you should REALLY go to the Frick, 71st and 5th.
🥰🥰
Xavier is adorable…just thought I’d point that out if you missed it.

Thanks, I almost missed that.
Please tell me what cocktail would suit this exquisite space. My, how I have missed you!
Good for you! It took a bit of gall for those who just blew apart her gorgeous room for an office. Glad you're putting things to rights.
We’ve been in that museum, quite beautiful.
It's going to be beautiful!!
Beautiful ~
Finalement, la révolution française permet d’avoir les merveilles de Versailles partout dans le monde !
wonderful
going to be stunning
Thank you so much ...Beautiful... 😍💖👌🌐💖
I miss “Cocktails With The Curator” with Xavier.
Beautiful work. This man had such grate taste! Luckily no wall and ceiling paintings from Amsterdam had been used. A lot of them are scattered all over the world, which makes me sad because they belong in the original canal houses. I hope they come back to Amsterdam in time.
Wouldn't mind him painting my boudoir!
A huge undertaking- 🟧♾️🟧

There is no mention of Elsie DeWolfe (Lady Mendl) - is she out of favor now?
lovely. I just hate that the video is 2 minutes.
Somehow knowing the Frick saga of grotesque treatment of the steel mill workers, this luxurious home is sickening.

Oh hush up. Portions of what you wear, drive, eat, reside in, etc. were created via wage slavery. Simply avoid purchasing items you know to be produced in exploitive conditions. Publicly emoting over it is grandstanding.

Frick was a dick! That's how to remember his name!
You guys need to hurry up with this restoration…we don’t got all day
So the original “museum” feeling on the first floor will be lost

Why? Just additional gallery space where the Bouchers were previous. Kinda doubt the pantry will be restored.
