I can’t even fathom the pain these infestations cause. Even though they are being dug out and treated they’ll just re-infest. It’s a continuous cycle because of their poor living conditions.

Cut them out with a scalpel like Jim does, disinfect there houses and than concrete, teach them basic hygiene. There you go 👍🏽 and make sure you get rid of all of the old bedding replace with new bedding. Check on them as often as you can.

I'm glad he got the help he needed.

His children need to take care of their father. Clean his house by getting it cemented so he's not sleeping on the dirt floors. The buy him some furniture. Bed with mattress and blankets. Some chairs and a table. There is an organization in Kenya called Rise Up Society that helps people with Jiggars. They also have a Senior Facility that helps the elderly. Jim Naurigucci heads the program.

Even though it is,, it's not so much about "affordability". Third world countries don't have infrastructure,, electricity run across the nation to feed individual homes or huts. They don't have wells for water or public water due to lack of electricity or municipal planning or a tax base to invest in public water & even sewer for sanitary waste disposal. Without those utilities,, they don't have private or even public bathrooms for sanitary usage or to help with sanitary & healthy food preparation. Most of these nations are drought stricken & don't have excess water for irrigation of their meager crops they might try to grow. Mass communication is almost non existent in outlying areas where infrastructure is neither profitable or feasible. The minority who can afford these "luxuries" I've mentioned,, live in the cities & close by suburbs where there is planned & maintained infrastructure. It's obvious this old gentleman doesn't have access or money to live under better conditions,, he is one of untold millions who literally live life one day to the next & survival itself becomes a luxury as well..

After you dig his jiggers out make sure you cement his house give him new bedding and clothes, Burn all His rags because I’m sure they have plenty of fleas and eggs in them. Teach them proper hygiene and most of all keep in touch with them with great support and love ❤️ 🙏🏽

I hope they provide pain relief and antibiotics so they don't get infected.

The video seemed to be more of a promotional ad for the lady politician of that county than a solution finding event for the man. When they showed his feet 2 days later, no jiggers had been dug from his feet. She actually said to him that there isn't any drug that can kill a jigger, so they just left him in his misery, pointing out the failures in the communities but not fixing it. I like that so many of you mentioned Rise Up Society in Kenya and Jim N., it's leader, because that organization is really doing something about the problem - giving bedding, new shoes, concreting floors, and even rebuilding houses that look like this man's to be more sanitary. They are now in the process of building a hospital directly for jigger victims, as most hospitals turn these people away. Jiggers are highly contagious, since the embedded in the skin female is constantly flipping out eggs that easily attach to nearby people.

I really hope this gentleman continues with daily treatments and is freed from the jiggars. He really needs outside support as his family is doing nothing to get their father deinfested and healthy again .

Many of these people and babies crawling on ground have these jigger on their butts and private parts. This is a horrific thing. The itching would drive you crazy.

I've wondered, could local people grow PLANTS that have insect repellant qualities. The plants USED in insect repellants. Then spread them to the people. Just an idea. Also, this sand flea will attack if clearn or dirty. I can see cleaning out housing floors and cementing them. Water would of course be good, but that is a big step. I am moved by this First Lady and her attitude and caring. Bravo.

These poor ppl who can’t get ahead of the jiggers due to no help on a regular basis and if they had it to help clean themselves and their space it would be a huge help. The use of peroxide is very helpful after having been dug and the shin is open. What an awful affliction these bugs are. My heart goes out to them all.

Suffering when there is nothing to do about it or when the medical profession has so much apathy for your suffering that is makes me sad and angry. Scalpel they shave the top layer of crusty hard skin,that covers over them after they burrow into skin.then they use the tip of scalpel to grab an pull them out.

Uninhabitable?? Have you seen how beautiful and lush some places in Africa are? It's because of them living in poverty and overpopulating that things end up the way they do, not because it's a place people can't live. Ditto goes for India and China. The government is usually to blame for being corrupt in many territories and there is a severe lack of birth control/general health care. If someone competent stepped up in power I'm sure a lot could be fixed. So loading up millions of people to ship off to become other country's burdens hardly seems a viable solution, especially considering a vast amount are proud of who they are and where they live and wouldn't want to live in strange white people cities where it gets cold or what have you. Besides, quite a few countries around the world already "took a few shiploads" of Africans back to their homelands and we all know how that ended up. Although in the end at least their families went on to eventually live on freely. I know I'm just rambling at this point but I think I made the point I set out to originally.
