Thank you for that excellent video - great job on that vice! I also have a 114 Record Heavy Duty vice, which I just ordered parts for the half-nut, bracket, and spring. This is a vice for life. Hopefully, you'll keep your dad's 114.

Nice project and refurbishing. Every shop has to have a vice, and that one is a very nice one. Should be with you forever now... Thumbs Up!

That would've been manufactured in the Parkway Works, Sheffield using top quality Sheffield steel.

Nice job, can you tell me what type of wheel you are using on the bench grinder please?

Very pretty result - but there wasn't very much wrong with the (magnificent!) vice in the first place - just a little cosmetic rust, which is as nothing on such a hunk o' metal...

Not available new since 2002, you're thinking of the Chinese Irwin clone, much inferior quality for a higher price than a used one like this.

Love using it everyday , dad would be proud as it was rusting away

I'm watching this at 3 minutes in thinking "that extremely rare very desirable vice is like new except for the jaws and patina, I sure hope he doesn't butcher / ruin it by "restoring" it like so many YTers do. I will reply to this with my verdict at the end.

Wire wheel 5 minutes in is not promising, but on the lift bar for the quick release it's okay. God I hope that doesn't touch the machined surfaces, though.

Not totally ruined, but definitely degraded from what it was. I'd pay 50% more for the pre "restore" vice than the post "restore" one. Removing any original metal is a fail. Wire wheels don't remove much and yours seems like a soft wheel so didn't do too much harm, but the flap wheel and grinder in various places, just horrific. If your dad were alive and still of sound mind and had good taste in engineering, he'd not have been pleased by seeing this.
