    Essentially identical guns on how they function mechanically because the Taurus is practically a Glock clone that doesn't look like a Glock. I have the G2C and they are built similarly and the assembly is the same. If you can fix a Glock you can fix a G series Taurus and visa/versa

    Patent expired on some of glocks designed parts. Taurus jumped on that. The G3 series uses Glock sight cuts. So any full size Glock sight will work on a g3

    I had a Taurus .40 back in the 1990s I think it was. Don't remember model but it looked sort of like a 1911 Colt. And yep,it did jam occasionally. The local gun shop only had flat nosed ammo so I blamed that, lol. It was good fun to shoot right up until I sold it along with the plastic case and the two extra clips. I was a little suprised I got the lion's share of my money back after buying it all new and using it for a few years and thousands of rounds, $400+ if I remember right. I did take good care of it though. Looking back I wish I had gone wherever needed to get round nosed acp ammo to see if it jammed less, just never did, I went with easy/convenient... Aaaaanyhow, GOOD VIDEO man!! I liked!

  • @hardline2a
    @hardline2a Жыл бұрын

    I wouldn’t say jamming is normal with those pistols. I couldn’t tell you how many thousands of rounds I’ve put through the various G pistols I’ve had and have yet to have an issue with any of them. Obviously any gun can have problem units but this era of Taurus is much more solid than not

  • @rbm6184

    @rbm6184

    Жыл бұрын

    Hardline 2A I agree. Jamming is not normal with the G series pistols. They just run and they are not picky about ammo either. Obviously the pitting and fitment was out of spec and alignment from the corrosion. The slide was in very poor condition just by its grittiness and we did not even see the condition of the rails both slide and frame rails probably both uneven and gritty. Those rails need to be smooth. Also the condition of the mag was awful so between the rails and the mag is where the problem was. We already know that the mag that feeds the gun is the weakest point on any autoloading gun.

    I think this is a great video... you show people a whole lot more than just the process of restoring the rusted pistol, but also the process of completely taking it apart and putting it back together. A lot of new guys who are just getting into owning their own firearms wouldnt know the first thing about disassemly and reassembly. So this covers many different aspects.. from restoration and obviously cleaning the weapon to taking it apart and putting it back together. Im sure alot of newbies would appreciate this video since it does show alot. The only thing i feel it lacked was some audio explaining things to viewers. Other than that, i thought it was a good viddo showing this process... these pistols are pretty good and dont really jam up, ive persobslly never had a jamming issue with this weapon, but i would assume that maybe when he says jamming is normal for this, that hes referring to a restored rusted pistol.. i would expect it to jam here and there, especislly since it still doesnt look or seem like its at 100% with its parts.

  • @ronlheureux7623

    Those pistols come with a breakdownsheet in their manuals. It's not usually that complicated. If one wants to own a deadly weapon, they must know how to break it down for cleaning. If the gun malfunctions, take it to a gunshmith or return it to the manufacturer for repairs. They are well prepared to do that. This particular gun is now garbage. If you bet you life on a gun, a rusted and rotted one isn't for you. I wonder what the condition is of the inside of the barrel? This video is interesting and entertaining, but know what anyone should do to have a reliable weapon in top condition. This particular Taurus costs about $250 to $300, tops. Cheap life insurance for a new one and it won't blow up in you hand, possibly. This articular pistol would make a good paperweight once it is dissabled.

    the PT111 platform is one of the few Taurus guns that are actually GOOD. I had a G3C that I put over 2000 rounds through and it only malfuntioned once (failure to feed), and that was when I was still breaking it in

  • @kennethrisner8648
    @kennethrisner86485 ай бұрын

    Pretty amazing stuff here. I had a sccy cpx 2 that was badly rusted on the outside to the point the slide was stuck shut in the forward position. Fortunately the internals were still ok and after 2 days of soaking in a tub of wd40 and a shit ton of scrubbing with a wire brush I got it in working order again. But, like other posters have eluded to once a gun is in this shape, even if you get it in working condition again it could never be fully trusted to be a reliable carry weapon again. It could be designated as an emergency backup or range toy. That said I can field strip weapons for cleaning but I wouldn't want to try and totally break down any weapon into every little microcosmic piece like this, I just don't have that ability but it's cool that you do have it. The only thing I respectfully disagree with you on is when you said these guns are known for jamming. The 2 Taurus handguns I have had, a g2c which I sold to a friend, and fuller size G3 which I have now, with 2 small exceptions, didn't have that problem. The g2c ran perfect with everything except steel case tulammo, and the g3 had an issue with hp's a couple times. By that i mean when wracking the slide on a mag full of hp's the first round would hang up on the feed ramp but after that ran it fine. Then again it has less than 500 rounds through it and will probably smooth out with more rounds through it. I noticed the sandy gritty sound when you wracked the slide before firing this weapon so I think more scrubbing in the slide rails might just fox the jamming problem

    Just a couple constructive safety tips as I enjoy your channel and want to see you continuing to make more. With the mag in the gun rotated it towards the camera, your head, a pistol in that condition could be prone to slam fire, and you don’t know if the slide release is going to hold with the slightest bump. Also, the Thumb cross Thumb is a good way to get your knuckles skinned and actually takes away from stability during shooting. Do Thumb over Thumb as if you’re pointing them towards the target.

    I'm thinking the reason for the jams might have been because of the condition of the inside of the magazine housing and the follower. There was probably a lot of drag that was causing the follower to cause the rounds to nosedive and not properly ride up the feed ramp but get caught on it instead.

    From what I’ve seen, it seems that you’re g2s is malfunctioning due to the amount of corrosion on the contact points causing a rough surface. Might want to add some light grease to it as well as some oil… if that doesn’t help then it’s just a range toy :)

    @@saltysalt7339 taurus are cheap guns and easy to rust i seen a torture test done on one the guy left it in a pool for 7 days and it was rusted almost as bad as this a taurus slide is made of carbon steel some old guns are made of wrought iron and thicker to withstand harsh conditions Just like online it says the 1890's colt 1911 production was made of grade 4140 chromoly steel Looking that metal up you see excellent resistance to corrosion compared to other metals but can still rust just slower The M1 Carbine was made of standard steel, stainless steel,aluminum with a Parkerized finish The M1 Garand was made up of stainless steel gas tube and a CM steel barrel which is chromium-molybdenum steels which is very good against high heat and corrosion and can withstand a long time before rusting but still eventually will rust. It just comes down to the steel quality taurus is making a handgun for civilian use the WW2 guns was too give top quality to are military for combat purposes
