Gyeon Trim is the daddy of coatings for plastics. Won me over when I put it on my scuttle 3 years ago. Still looks as good as it did the day I applied it, after dozens and dozens of washes, sun and rain. Absolutely brilliant stuff and I have used it on all my plastics since then. Cant calculate how much time and money it's saved as I've never had to do anything else to those pieces.

Im debating between this and C4 for the engine bay. C4 did an amazing job on the trim on my car months ago and it still looks as though fresh trim has been fired onto the car. Thanks for reviewing this.

I used that cheap ceramic coating ( 9H MrFix ) that you took appart on the heavily faded plastic of a 2006 Ford Ka . Absolutely brilliant so far .

@Brandon Fountain yup, I used it on faded headlight trim, applied a couple coats and it looks like new. That was two months ago. Still looks good. I have a faded windshield trim which I applied it to. It is slightly chalky in places, It was very faded I think the plastic absorbed a lot of the coating. I will apply more and see how it goes.

Thanks John, I might just give that gear a go...! I would say that Sonax Perfect Finish is certainly one of the best abrasives/polishes I’ve used. Damn good stuff ! 👌🏼👍🏼

Definitely think the doing things bit by bit is a really good plan. I've found my motivation ebbs away if I try to do too much. You can't apply that to washing the vehicle but you can to almost any other process. Back in the day, when I was still in the Sponge, Turtle Wax and chamois stage, I'd wash the car and polish, say, the front one week, doors the next and so on. I still apply the same approach to this day. Good advice.

Fantastic John. Your detailing makes me look like a beginner’s beginner. I think I do a good job but when I see what you produce I think, why should I bother. Wish I had a hidden area too as the looks I get when detailing my joy. Thanks, John your channel is fantastic. God bless you, sir.

I recently bought Gtechniq C4 Permanent Trim Restorer after having CarPro Perl let me down (It began to run in the rain.) I have to say I'm MIGHTY impressed so far! I don't know why I ever used Perl at all to be honest after using this. After a month of VERY heavy rain and crap weather, my trim is looking like the day it was installed. This made me try another "Ceramic", Gyeon Tyre. Again, never knew why I used Perl for as long as I did, out lasts it infinitely.

I'd say I'd use PERL for interior plastics. I bought insta finish magic trim from slim's detailing and they said not to use it for the interior as customers said about it being greasy or something like that.

Perl is water based, and has done me good in the pasts for pretty much all my trim, tyres ect. I used my mix of 1:5 perl which I normally use on my engine bay on my front grill, splitter and door mirrors. That night, we had a bit of rain, but nothing crazy. After the drive to work I'd noticed it had COVERED my bonet and had run down the doors underneath the wing mirrors. It made a real mess of my car and needed a good aggressive wash to get it off. I'll stick to using it on interior and engine bay as i'm not happy with it running all over my paintwork. It's a good product, but I'm not a fan of using it on the exterior.

Fantic1980 Ive never had that problem with perl.. I used it recently because my seals on the 140 as a bit sort of tired and patchy and its been fantastic. I love perl. One time I got a spotting issue with it but the spots just sorted themselves out.. (wasnt overconcetrated either).. but its been really cool. I like it on exteriors, engine bays, tyres everything.. pretty much all I use.. but Ive heard so many talking the the silica dressing for tyres so Im kind of excited to try this because I reckon it will be good.

I've used Perl for over a year and was happy with it until that point. I used it on absolutely everything plastic. That one bad experience just made me look at something different, and that brought me to ceramics :) On a side note about that dirt transfer you had on application. I'd snow foamed my car (bilt hamber Auto Foam) I then scrubbed with Bilt Hamber Surfex 1:5 and rubbed down with CarPro Eraser. What I thought was squeeky clean, STILL had dirt transfer when applying a ceramic coating. I also had the same issue with Gyeon Tyre, even though I'd scrubbed the living daylights out of them.

I can attest that GTechniqs C-4 Trim Restorer is a great product. It makes vinyl and plastics look better than new and it's lasted over a year going through salt laden winter Ohio roads. I've had real good results with all their products.

Definitely got a point with the focusing in on one job comment. I refuse to do big all day jobs now cause the quality inevitably fades once your arms and body begin to tire lol.

I've not tried this particular product, but I've tried CarPro DLux. And even though I was initially very satisfied with the results, in about a months time the even black finish partially reverted to the old grayish, streaky one. The water repellency was still crazy (which was actually not an advantage, but a problem at this point, because I could not even apply dressings to cover up the streaks anymore), but the finish just looked uneven again. And that even though I went through an extensive prep process, and aggressively and thoroughly scrubbed the surface both using APC and then IPA, using microfiber towels prior to applying the ceramic coating to it. And I actually did two coats instead of just one. Still, in a about a month the streaks showed up again and also the dark black tone has partially reverted halfway to the faded grayish one. What I did now on another car was to apply first Solution Finish to restore the trim to black, and the once that has dried (been waiting about 2 days before proceeding) I've applied DLux over it. This time I've also used a magic eraser (melamine foam) to scrub the surface clean prior to application, which I think worked better than did the scrub with the microfiber towels only. I yet have to see how this holds up, but I have great hopes for it, both because of the more abrasive cleaning, and because of the "dual action" of combining Solution Finish with DLux.

perhaps ceramic on their own is just better for protection on newer trims. can tell you what this video was shot a fair while back and the product is still working really well but I had no greyness to restore. Im going to try the solution finish trick Ive heard other peeps say this works.. might do a video on it gabor let me know how your trim holds up with it pls mate.

Forensic Detailing Channel solution finish and Renew Protect products would be a great great review. I've been using Renew protect Blak and Gloz and it has been fantastic on my tires and rubber trim so far. I've never tried solution finish because I like a little more gloss which is why I bought renew protect. Please review these! I really appreciate your professional views, cheers!

Try looking on line for a dog blow dryer, much cheaper than the full pro car dryers but just as effective and rather easier to use than a leaf blower

Garry Talbot me to, but the leaf ones kind of doing the job. I actually think portability will be more usefull for me so Im looking perhaps at the little mini hand held master blaster thing. I just dont like the idea of dragging the hoover style blower thing around behind me.
