And just saying I love carving pine, it’s super soft and easy to carve, and depends on when you carve it rather it’s sticky or not but it’s always a mess that’s for sure, I found a red tree I’ve been carving and it’s beautiful when I finish it, much harder than pine but beautiful, I’ve been learning for the last two years, love doing it, good job Jordy

Loved watching your process on this, and really love how it turned out too. I agree about carving the pine and how the dust sticks to the piece you're carving. I had to use a brush alot on the pine pieces I've carved. On the cedar carvings, it seems the dust comes off a lot easier. The pine seems alot harder of a wood as well, at least in my experiences. Great video, Jordy.👍😊💖 These shallow relief carvings are great ideas for the fence board bird houses too. Now after watching this, I'm going to be on the lookout for some old chunky wood furniture that I can carve up. I have seen some beautiful woodcarved furniture that had the white wash, and that can look pretty nice too. Several of those pieces had the wiped off white wash and then some gold or silver metallic highlights, like a rub n buff or some other metallic highlight, but they were all pretty.

That's definitely the pine resin that makes it so sticky . Usually have to burn the burs off to clean them up because they will stop cutting.

Long story short, that mirror looks better than it ever did! LMMFAO 😂😂! with you doing all the different stains and paint! WTF is he doing?😂 I always know it’s going to turn out beautiful! My first carving I ever did 20yrs. ago, I should say etching, was on a mirror. That’s why I got a dremal in the first place. I did a dragon on it. I had this Mexican friend that had a low rider car club, he saw that dragon and wanted me to put his club logo on his back windshield. Turned out ok, he loved it! Wish I still had a pic. of it. I’ll send a pic of the dragon. Good stuff!

I love it all! Yes, in some cases you need patience, for many of us, well for me, it's a Zen time! For pine, it's quite resinous, so yes, soft to carve but I think it's probably the oil residue! Your finish it's like very old stone! I can't find the milling burr... Could you add it to your Amazon lists please?

@27:50 sticky sawdust residue... Yes, I have found that pine can be sticky and have the same sawdust that you are showing, AND have the same issue with old oil/shellack based stains and paints... i think they get hot from the bit and it gets sticky. So, having both on one piece like you have there seems about par. I've repurposed thrift store furniture and a lot of it is pine and old cheap paint... it always does this and is a major PITA! 🤬 At the end you asked of anybody used whitewash, i do both on nearly all my pieces, and use a light oak stain first, then at tires looks great when carved through to the fresh wood, then color in the text or art and a final 0000 steel wool, then sealing oil. Your work is outstanding and I long to have such wonderful skills! 👍👍👍 the "group" ... the ending! 😳🤣🤣🤣🤣
