Restoring a WWII M38 Luftschutz helmet!

In this video I am restoring an original German WWII Luftschutz helmet by carefully removing a layer of post war paint to reveal the factory paint and decal. In the process I also reinstall a period liner to complete the restoration.

Fine work! I know that these helmets a rivet to secure the liner that is hard to replicate and install. The split pins work fine. The entire project looked like a lot of fun!

Thanks! It depends, some manufactureres riveted them in but others also used split pins so you can pretty much do whatever luckily. And yes, it was fun to restore! The moment I saw the decal wasn't denazified surprised me a lot.
Nicely rescued LS Helmet!. The decal may be worn but at least not "de nazified".
