Restored HPI firestorm flux 10T First runs with TOP SPEED METER. (FYI-Not 77 MPH) LOL. [PART 3]

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is part 3 of this HPI Firestorm 10T flux video series. I purchased this for under 100 bucks on eBay with a whole bunch of spare parts from a great eBay seller. Fully redid the chassis and wiring with all included parts (no money spent).
This is the first speed run with the unknown gearing ratio setup and a 3S 5000 Traxxas lipo.
This ting only topped out at 42 MPH and can definitely use alot higher gearing. The car is running a 4600KV castle sidewinder brushless system.

No problems with pinion fitting. I used a 35T and a 77T... Since I stripped the spur I went back to the regular setup 19T and 88T.

COOL, which did you get? I'd say about 1995 and newer nitros are great, Older ones are just a tad too rare now and complicated to work with. The release of the HPI nitro RS4 was a game changer. Generally the nitro design has not changed since then.

hybrid32494 i got a thunder tiger eb4 and the older one is a thunder tiger ts4n vintage. The only problem it needs a new pull start and they are real rare so I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Also it hasn’t been started in around 8 years the owner said.

very cool buggy, you ever seen the thunder tiger EK4, thats what I want. First thing is to tear down the cooling head and inspect the piston and sleeve, usually they are salvageable as long as nothing is physically broken. IF you have a pull start from another big-block .21 and up engine try to see if it will fit too. The fully clean and check for vacuum pressure on the fuel tank and lines.

Damn sweet man I did a 62.3 mph run with my Traxxas bandit yesterday and couple days before that I did a run with my Traxxas 1/16th e Revo vxl and I did 52.1 mph. My rustler and bandit have both hit 66.4-66.7 mph though.

@@hybrid32494 Well on both my traxxas rustler and Traxxas bandit I'm using the front stock ones. Front wheels on both vehicles are the stock Alias. The rears on the rustler though are Traxxas Anacondas and on the Bandit the rears are Proline Road Rage. They are both capable of a !ax around 67-69 I'm sure but idk about 70-72 mph though. I've been having trouble after 60-62. I wouldn't doubt with a little more room and a slightly higher gearing I could easily achieve 71-74 mph maybe even 75. I know the batteries matter to though... A good 2S lipo gets my Traxxas rustler up to 49.1 mph maxed out and my bandit on the same lipo up to 51.6. The motor in my bandit is a higher KV though then the rustler vxl velinion 1/10 3500 KV. My Bandit has a Horizon Hobby Kinexsis 4000 KV brushless 1/10 system in it. It would be easier to hit over 70 with the bandit.

yup, it's all about the KV. We need to get the traxxas xo-1 tires, they don't ballon at all. But will need a 17 mm hub conversion too then. Thats fast for a 2S, you must have the highest gearing possible, right?

hybrid32494 Oh yeah buddy KV matters a lot when it comes to brushless electric RC cars!!!!!!. By the way you can go for 4S lipo on a 3S only capable brushless speed controller but the problem is you could only get a few passes before you either fry the speed controller or you fry the motor. Also… You can go with mod one gearing 32 pitch gears on a 1/10 scale vehicle like a rustler or bandit which are both the ones that I have but the problem is the heat issues… You can risk overheating if you want at around 185-280 degrees and up but what’s the use...... blowing your money left and right to cheat your competition or if your only doing speed runs just to put up bigger numbers. Now of course there are 4S,5S and 6S max capable esc’s that you could use orange juice 1/10th scale vehicles but normally 5S and up is only on majority of 1/8th scale systems since they have twice the torque and speed and even triple to quadruple the speed and torque !!!!!!. If I was to do 4S lipo right now on my two mini e Revo VXL’s or even on my rustlers, bandit or slash’s....... I can not only do 10-15 mph or more but I will have a shit ton more torque lmfao. Problem is that cheating your system that way and also creating more problems for it will only cause short life of your brushless or brushed combo and will cost you more in the long run. I don’t have all the money in the world to constantly replace brushed or brushless motors, esc’s, wheels, tires or chassis etc etc. I’m not rich to go buy tons of upgrades either lol. I got 9 cars that I want to work great up until I’m 60+ years of age lmfao !!!!!!. Don’t want to abuse them out of their recommended voltage zones it’s not worth it just for the extra 10-30 mph difference which is HUGE LOL.

  • @gorillabeartech4577
    @gorillabeartech45775 жыл бұрын

Plus ballooning doesn’t happen until about 43-46 mph on the mini e Revo. When my mini is doing 38.2 mph on a 2S Lipo it hardly balloons..... doesn’t even look like it balloons. I was thinking of getting proline dirt hawg wheels for both of them though eventually.

hybrid32494 Is you are geared 28/50 which is stock rtr out the box on the vxl brushless 1/16 version like mine then with 3S you will hit just about 50...... I got 49.7 mph maxed out with just a single Traxxas 3S 1400 mah 25C lipo. Now I’m getting probably 50.6-51.5 mph maxed out maybe even 52. 31/45 gearing is going to do that not the stock 28/50. I’m gunning for atleast 52-55 mph with this little 4000KV Velinion 380 sized motor and mini VXL-3M speed controller. I love this mini system it’s great and I’m not going to swap it just to hit 62-70 or more it’s not worth shredding the damn diffs. I’ll let my big e Revo do those higher speeds since it’s made to handle it with the mamba monster.

Plus the extra 500 KV difference between my brushless VXL 1/10th scale brushless 3500 KV system vs my Horizon Hobby Kinexsis 4009KV KV system is practically 2.4-3 mph difference which is still significant if you really think about it....... I did 49.1 mph on 2S 7.4 Volt with my traxxas rustler and my traxxas bandit did 51.6 mph on 2S...... still a difference in power by almost 4-5 mph difference !!!!!!...... that’s amazing!!!!!!!.....my two mini e Revo VXL’s that came brushless VXL out of the box brand new with the mini 4000KV 380 size brushless system and a mini VXL-3M esc both hit similar speeds. My one Revo vxl hits 38.2 mph on two 4S batteries using a parallel connector and my other one will probably do 35-36 mph using the same parallel connector and batteries. Now I am geared 31/45 on one mini Revo and my other one is geared 28/45. They were both 28/50 stock out the box though......... still using the stock talon wheels with Gemini rims on both of them. Actually just swapped my worn talons on the one geared 31/45 lol. They both haul ass just like the bigger 1/10 rustlers and bandit lmfao. My mini revos both do 48.5-53.5 mph maxed out with good lipo and nimh batteries. With nimh in series I’m hitting 52.1 mph and with my other Revo about 49.7-51.2 or so...... they are hauling ass for just a 1/16 RC buddy lmfao !!!!!. I don’t understand how some of these guys strap a 1/10 system to the 1/16 e revos or summits or even the mini slash 4wd’s and are doing 65-85 mph or more LMFAO !!!!!!....... I’ve seen mini e revos that are doing 65-82 mph NO PROBLEM...... but it’s usually with a 1/10 brushless setup. The most I can hit out of mine is around 56-62 if I geared them both down on the spur to about 40 tooth and up the pinion to about 33 or 35. It’s crazy and fascinating though that I’m still doing 45-52 with these minis lol.

yes, I love my mine erevo vxl. This chassis does not get enough praise, it's so versatile and easy to run. So you got a full size e revo vxl that only does 38 on 4S. Those need 6S for sure. I hate running double packs honestly. I have a hpi trophy truggy it also does about 36 on 4S, ridiculous. Total waste, I somewhat regret buying it. BTW the mini e revo drifts well too with some drift wheels, try it.

@@hybrid32494 No man I'm talking the 1/16th scale mini e Revo vxl brushless that I have which is two of them lol. One of them is geared at 31/45 and the other at 28/45. The one geared with the 31 pinion 45 spur is the Revo I talking about specifically that is hitting 38.2 mph maxed out only on 2S lipo not on 4S LMFAO.... There is no way I would run 4S using a series connector on this minis I would annihilate the motor and esc lol !!!!!. I got the stock rtr brushless system that they both had come with originally which are both the same KV which is 4000KV and the motor size is 380 from what I hear. The speed controller is the VXL-3M. On 2S using two 2200 may Traxxas 25C 7.4 Volt lipos using a parallel connector I'm hitting 38.2 mph on 31/45 gearing. With two of the 1200 mah 6 cell 7.2 Volt nimh packs using a series connector which is safe in nimh mode on the esc I'm hitting 52.1 mph maxed out but it may be because my nimh packs are wearing out lol. They aren't fresh brand new batteries they have some age to them so I'm sure with a brand spanking set around 53-55 mph. On a single 3S around 50-52.5 and with two 3S 1400 mah 25C Traxxas lipos using a parallel connector in lipo mode I'd easily get 53-56 mph no problem but that is also with brand spanking new lipos lol!!!!!. When lipos eventually start to lose power after 3-10 months or more then that equals less top end mph. Even nimh batteries work the same way.

hybrid32494 No man I never have I actually like the stock talon wheels with the silver Gemini rims. They serve a good purpose for what I’m doing with it although they do wear a lot faster then most aftermarket wheels. They grip great and are excellent for 45-55 mph for the mini e Revo. Now the big ones that used to be on my bigger 1/8 scale E Revo actually popped during a speed run but that pop didn’t happen until two years of running it heavily on 6S at 55-61 mph constantly. I use most of my RC’s only for speed man I don’t bash a whole lot because I’ll be spending more and more money left and right. Eventually I’ll get into bashing them later after I achieve the speeds I want to but more then likely these cars will stay speed run cars.
