Great Restoration, BUT, you have to scratch the paint when mounting all ground connections to the chassis! This is very important, especially for the PE connector. The RCD will never trip otherwise when someone comes in contact with a live chassis if a failure occurs!

Well done. Unlike some of the other "restoration" channels this looks genuine. At least it's not an electronic device that have been laying in mud for a year and magically all boards work after cleaning with tap water. There's some actual electronics repair going on here. I'm kind of amazed that only one MOSFET failed. Those usually fail in pairs (both high and low switch in a half bridge)

I was surprised by how good things turned out despite what he used. I prefer to use Steam, Dishwashers, Ultrasonic, Wire Wheel and Air before I ever lift a brush.
Impressive how you got around not having a color decal printer that was a lot of work but the results were very good. You really shouldn't clean pcbs with gasoline though, it's rather rough on what can be delicate traces. Isopropanol alcohol is the preferred method

the danger isn't just with the traces but with the enamel that is on the transformer's wiring. The gasoline will absolutely start to dissolve that coating as well as cause it to be far more brittle. Over time that will lead to the windings shorting out and causing a serious dangerous situation to people and the building itself since it could electrocute someone as well as cause a fire.
Wow that's awesome video

@user-sv5oq1bd1t

Very nice restoration and repair! With all the time spent on the restoration I would have used some automotive epoxy bondo to fill in the minor imperfections on that front panel. Are the labels on the back original from the manufacturer or are those something you printed? I can't believe someone would trash such a piece of equipment and then throw it out when it quit working. Treat your tools well and they provide you years of reliable service!

Old? It has QR stickers inside, so it's limited how old it is. This model is a chinese produced privat label brand, that are still sold to this day. Scary that a 10-15 year 'old' welding machine is in this poor condition. I have used +30 year old welders, that was still 100% , But those were ofcourse not cheap chinese.

Pretty good work. One major thing - DO NOT - never use gasoline to clean circuit boards. Use denatured alcohol if you don't have the correct chemicals. It will degrade the insulation and capacitors and other components. One minor mistake, spinning up that fan like that till it whines will ruin the bearings just that fast. They aren't meant for that fast speed and you definitely damaged it permanently - it will now last half as long or less.

Great job and very satisfying to watch !! BTW....saw you cleaning he PCB's with gasoline ? The professional reconditioning firms (Cleaning up after smoke damage caused by fires etc.) throw everything in warm water with mild soap ! Even CRT's (who still uses these ??) can be submerged completely. The trick is the drying process...... First they clean with soap, rinse with water, air-blow it dry and rinse again with de-mineralized water. Airblow again and dry for 24 hrs. min in 35-40 degr. Celcius moving air (running fans). Results are factory new !! Nevertheless......awesome job !!

I thought it is India (The Jewel under the Republics) therefore I took the freedom to let Google translate my remarks into Hindi.
