Got to love tonka, as rusted as it was and still works, mine was run over by my fathers '98 F350 and all it has was a bent box side, still have it today and still works fine

Fantastic restoration. Had a similar one from early 1970's, only notable difference was the cab "glass" was clear.

Yes same here, and the cab glass was clear and the metal frame was yellow. I also had the Grader, Bulldozer, Tractor with back hoe, Loader, and Scrapper.

What is sandblasting?

I have so much nostalgia for those cast iron tonka trucks I got one when I was younger and do did my brother and so did his son. Its family tradition and I'm planning on carrying it on with my children in the future .

Give one to your daughters too! I would steal my brother's Tonka truck and have my barbies ride in the back and stuff...I had so much fun but never had one of my own

never realised how weird a new tonka truck without rust would look! (Any tonka truck i saw as a kid was always beginning to deteriorate lol)

When you save a toy. You save a part of the child you were. And still are.

When I clicked on the video I knew exactly what this was! It’s a 1980’s Tonka toy dump truck original yellow paint and green windshield and the generic Tonka logo. I was born in 2004 and my brother was born in 2011 and asked what this was. This video brought tears to my eyes bc I remember having every Tonka on the market. Thank you for bringing back the best part of my childhood.

When I was a kid in the 70's the windshield was clear or smoke. then in the 80-90's's they made these green and orange. Glad to hear they went back to the yellow ones.

I am in awe of your ingenuity and your creativity. I liked the way you tossed all those parts into a clothes washer to clean them! Must have been really noisy. Great job and an interesting video

Good job on the restoration... I see a lot of criticism in the comments but it looks good. I am still horrified that Hasbro (when they bought Tonka) took the all metal Tonka truck and turned it into plastic and really thin gauge metal but you did a great job making it like new again.
