Restoration of a 70´s Omega Seamaster Quartz Watch

Ойын-сауық

Hi guys, today I show you a vintage Omega Seamaster from the 70s with caliber 1342, watch case, bracelet and crown completely original also the crystal is original and in good condition. The watch arrived not working although it had a new battery. Luckily none of the components were damaged and the watch started working again after the service. The dial is very worn, probably due to the sun which has consumed the black on the dial over the years. In the video I forgot to show the adjustment of the minute hand which is independent from the hour hand. In order to adjust the minutes it is necessary to press the crown for 5 seconds, release it, and press again, the minute hand will start to rotate automatically. Once you arrive at the desired time, release the pressure on the crown to instantly stop the minute hand.
I hope you enjoy the video

So happy to see somebody taking on those lovely ultrathin timepieces from the 70ies and 80ies. Great job on a gorgeous watch.

Great job! This 1342 caliber is awesome, was an Omega design before the company was absorbed by the Swatch group

Was that Isopropyl alcohol that was used to clean the circuit board? Excellent video and an amazing watch.

Watch looks in good condition for its age, guess they better made back then. Nice to see something rather unusual.

Hey brother, loved the video. I’m trying to get into restoring vintage omega’s. What type of equipment can I use as a beginner on a budget? Also, how long does it take to learn how to and where each of the movement parts go. Do you follow a specific blueprint to help you assemble it or do you have it all memorized?

I recommend you buy a basic set of tools, they are not very expensive. Once you have practiced, buy the various specific tools.

Hello sir. Nice video. What would you say a watch like this would cost? I've got one, only that mine have a perfect dial, and missing the crown.

@@watchrestorationchannel1061 Thank you Sir. Sounds a bit low though. Got another price quota 15-18 years ago, they said 1300$ *then*. (Todays dollar). Asked for repair in Norway, they couldn't do it and would have to send it to a Omega factory. They told me _at least_ 500$ to repair it + Freight/insurance.

@@user-is6rv9xz4x It depends where you're from. Here in Germany I have seen perfect models on sale for €650. 500 € for the repair directly to Omega is still a fair price...😄

When you scratch a $2000 or $3000 set of hands with your steel tweezers, I'm will to bet you will start using plastic ones. :)

@@watchrestorationchannel1061 Saw this dude scratch a Rolex hand. The owner wanted to charge him 9k to replace it. Not sure how it went, but I'm fairly certain it wasn't good.
