I agree the music is distracting, but I think that's done to avoid copyright infringement.

Someone in Afghanistan uploaded this so they probably messed with the sound because of copyright issues.

I have seen other Restoration Man episodes on Amazon and the same problem. It isn't the music, its the final sound mix. I don't know but I think there was some Dolby surround encoding that may not have been transferred properly. Watch Living In The Pump Station, the same episode and it sounds fine.

If you must have the music overpowering the voices, at least provide closed captioning.

It's the same on other shows on this channel. Restoration Home is the same. I'm wondering if it's something to do with the conversion. Super annoying though!

I'd love to finish watching this, except I can't hear anything they're saying. Tone down the music!

I love this series, but the previous commenters are correct. The sound mixing is really poor with the music track being so loud that it is sometimes hard to discern the dialog. There is a need to "go back to the drawing board" on that. I finally just gave up on this episode not too far into it.

I too found the "background" music to be overwhelming. I am trying to hang in there, but I finger is staying on my volume control, toggling constantly so I am missing what I really wanted out of this video.

Please in future keep the background music at a level which allows us to hear the spoken commentary , I almost gave up on this programme because of this .

relieved to find these posts. I also had to give up. I cannot hear the voices over the music. I love this series, but without better sound mixing or closed captions being available I cannot enjoy the commentary. Please fix this!

Love these shows, however, the music is so loud and overwhelming I'm watching with the sound muted.

I agree with everyone else. The sound mix needs to be adjusted so that the “background” music doesn’t overpower the commentary. Really hard to concentrate, and the story is definitely more important.

I have to use headphones to hear videos. This music was sooo loud it gave me a headache.

I'd of kept the windows until after it was restored and replaced them as I had the money for better windows.

I agree! I felt the host was a bit too pushy on the windows being replaced & kept making it seem like a priority! Perhaps the family felt pressured into following his advice, but getting into that much extra debt right away seemed silly to me. To me, using what they had (perfectly functioning windows) until they could afford the custom ones to be made, would have made more economical sense. Lovely reno nonetheless!

Just started but I would keep it one floor. It would be grand. It could be a huge open area with a living room, dining room, kitchen, rec room, bathroom, etc. The beams are rather low on the 2nd floor, but they are lovely.

Music is very unnecessary but the finished home was amazing

Its a beautiful building and I do agree with the editing of the video: music is way too loud. Couple of concerns with the design: 1. Everyone can see you sitting on the toilet through the window or shower 2. the shower that was shown, would allow water to run right down one of those window & floor openings causing water damage in the future 3. no safety measures in girls room to prevent them from falling down the gap between window and floor.

How could they possibly think 60,000 pounds was enough for the restoration of this HUGE building?

How can it take 6 months to decide on windows? How can you design a house and finish framing without considering A/C ducts? (a job a worked on) The answer to all 3 ARTISTS!!!!

:I absolutely loved this episode. Even with the lengthy decision on window design, I think this couple hit the jackpot. Excellent !!!

The music is lovely but it's just a bit too loud on this one. The Reel Truth History Documentaries are really great and I enjoy watching them!

I get that the windows are not a period match! But they are in and energy efficient..... Leave them alone till they have the money to replace them!

Am I the only one concerned for the children's safety when it comes to that gap between the windows and the second floor??? Is there anything stopping them from falling through or getting stuck between floors in those gaps?

that was my first thought. eeeeek. if they were older , maybe...but they are sooo young. curiosity and discovery is going to have them tossing things down soon....and then they might slip next (a little "rough house" play gone wrong?) maybe they do have some barrier/screen but didn't have them in place for all the reveal shots.

I want to say you’re paranoid but I can’t. It’s scary.

I thought it was just my own system that sometimes distorts the sound, but it appears that others are complaining about not being able to hear the narration over the music. It would be so nice if you could correct this and release it again! Thank you for such an interesting program, but such a shame that the words are often lost when there is music... What an incredible transformation! How amazing that they kept their vision, and tenacity to see it through. It is just exquisite!

My dachsund howled when I started playing it...

The vinyl windows were modern and insulating. They could have been changed out at a later date.

I’d love to see the second half of the building completed. This was wonderful

I heard everything just fine... aside from all of the music remarks, this was a great. I would have done a few things differently though. The right decision was made on the windows albeit that it took 6 months to come to that. I hope the family has many years of making great memories in such a wonderful home. Cheers!

I think this is the third pump house I've seen redone. They sure are neat buildings!

Jeez dont people realise this has been downloaded from TV without permission? Most likely this is why the music is louder than the voiceover. Or its been compressed in to mono. Theres no way of separating or adjusting the tracks. Need to go back to the source for that.

I love this series of videos. But does anyone else experience not being able to hear the voice-over when the "background" music is playing? It's a shame the sound was mixed this way.

I feel like it would be annoying to have the gap between the windows and the floor. if something was happening downstairs you would be able to hear everything.

140K is pretty modest for a restoration that large, all things considered.

Great show. Having trouble understanding what they're saying. When the music starts playing in the background it's way too loud. Need to turn it down some or is it just me. But love the program.

This was a great show. A couple of points: -audio needs to be normalized; music is louder than the voices -I found Waldo at 24:53.

I don't like how cramped they made it, I would have made that engine room an open living room with dining and kitchen. I also would then make the boiler room the bedroom wing, put the master on first floor and the kids room upstairs.

I agree. That grand room was amazing. They probably could have done a bathroom in there but all I thought of was living/dining/kitchen/recreation open area. Just change out the windows and do some vintage flooring. Today, everyone is knocking walls down, and they spent money to put them up. The beams were at head level upstairs. The man was talking about not wasting money.... I sort of think that happened here, but it is their dream and they love it.

Stopped watching because I couldn’t hear the dialogue over the music overlay. A shame.

Are the children in danger of falling down the window walls? They look open.

@@F-J. Especially sound! Clearly a master bedroom needs to be fairly sound proof! But their may be Lexan in the opening. (as super strong plastic used for bullet proof windows)

I was thinking about this as well.

You could build a small Hotel out from that building- sort off B&B, its huge for a single family home. TH

I was expecting them to do something really dumb with those windows, hahahahahahaha but they hit a home run for sure. They look really nice.

I would love if the back ground music is actually in the background. I find myself straining to hear the conversations. Otherwise love this show

Such a great series marred by sound quality. Wish is would be re-engineered to lower the decibel level of the music as it's louder than the narrator. Maybe the sound engineers are hard of hearing?

I love the idea of this video But" The music on this video is way to loud"😖 It's very hard to hear you! Gave me a head ake... It took me sometime to listen again, but I wanted to see the finish of it..

I loved the original building

As many have stated - the sound levels are messed up. Make sit difficult to watch.

The windows keep the cold out and can be replaced later, saving money.

Nice restoration, but I would have done a few things different. I would have closed the gaps between windows and floors, probably with a couple of sheets of hardened glass, for safety reasons and to prevent the littlest bit of noise going trough the whole building. And is there really need for four! bathrooms?, one for every inhabitant of the building? One bathroom for every pair of bed rooms would have been sufficient, and then probably one extra bathroom downstairs next to a utility room to take a shower after doing work or play in the garden etc.

Just adjust your TV audio to vocal settings 👌 👍 mine is just fine 🙂 it only takes a few seconds and most modern TVs can filter just fine. This guy with his "im an artist" scarfs.... lol he literally was dressed as wheres Waldo in one take just missing the glasses.

For such a large structure, they have a tiny kitchen, and very narrow hallway. Will there only be the downstairs bath? They could've done with a better layout.

Is that mist that I see on the rofo windows ? If yes, it means ther's a lot pf moisture in their home.

This is a very interesting series and I would love to watch more, however, every episode is plagued with the same audio problem where the dialogue is drowned out by unnecessary music. I strain to hear, adjust the volume constantly, and still miss much of what is said. After several episodes of this, I'm too annoyed to continue.

The music aside. Those are very young children. Is there a barrier that they can't throw stuff down from the gap at the floor and the windows or perhaps get hurt or fall down them themselves?

Do something about the background music please. We want to understand what people are saying.

So what was the priority here? The music or the dialog and seeing the building? I've found the music atrocious on several episodes, I just give up, mute it and skip ahead to the finished product.

With small children? Most families, especially mothers, would never want that.

These people took a beautiful Victorian brick building and suburbanized it with carpeting and drywall. And those windows? That's what took them six months to come up with? They're beautiful, but nothing out of the ordinary; nothing that says six months worth of custom design and manufacturing. As much as I despise the overbearing tyranny of planning permissions for listed houses, I can see the value of making sure people like this can't do what they did to this poor pump house.

In this case - whenever you want to seek perfection (and even more) if the budget is limited - one should never choose the height at which the floor will be installed without first having solved which windows will finally be left. // If you have the money there is no problem at all, since you can even make the windows to the extent you want.

The windows seemed off for me. I would have divided each window into two with a brick divider. However, I would have left it as a grand room in the first place. All that work on the bricks and I only saw a few exposed ones. Lovely people but I am a bit confused. The beams are beautiful but they are at head level. He talked about wasting money... so, yea. It was their dream.

I was so interested in this wonderful show -- but the music continually drowned out whoever was speaking making watching it frustrating!

Please lower the volume of the music. Takes so much away from the information when you can't hear it all.

Love these videos but I am a not from the UK and the music competes with the dialogue making it difficult to understand what is being said. Please soften the music or eliminate it. The restoration is amazing.

They have solar panels and underfloor heating. But i would add a Woodburner 🤗

id leave the existing windows & save a fortune, but the new ones do look nice, dont really care for the kitchen, the bedrooms are nice, love the ceilings

The hardware, ie, the handles Could have been replaced with authentic ones, also the frames could have been sprayed a colour more befitting to the building, saving them money.

What have they done to this episode??? Can't here a thing😳 Can they fix it & repost it?
