I am in awe of this young woman who is at the same time very feminine. What amaze me the most is how she can remember how to put back every single piece. !!!

I have to hand it to Lin....she very attractive, she is very smart with college degrees. She is very innovative, and energetic, and in great demand in her town....which is probably bigger than we think. They have a hospital, so I don't think it is that small.... She can fix just about anything.....so what does she do?? She completely rebuilds this 50 year old Lathe for a customer..and PAINTS IT PINK ! Who else would do that but a cute enterprising young woman. I bet her customer was impressed. She has said that Pink was her favorite color. So keep up the good work.

The lathe was originally built in 1972, older than her father, meaning he is 50 oldest, so she's probably 30 oldest, my guess is 27 or 28.

Experience is accumulated through the knowledge one collects be traveling through life with an open mind, eyes and ears. It has nothing to do with age. I have known so many old horses that with 65 barely knew more than they did with 25. Linguoer's willingness to put her knowledge to work for her and lack of fear to work hard is the groundstone for her success. Looks Like we will both be back often. Have a nice one.

Wow Lin, what a great restoration of a broken lathe! All those parts to take apart and restore them properly, and afterwards rebuilding the whole machine is a big challenge! I would have to take pictures or have to follow some manuals to put everything back together in a correct way. You're just a genius! And you panted it in your favourite colour as well!! 操作车床时，务必用法罩，把头发全部包覆，散发操作太危险啦！当年我厂一女工，散发操作，不慎被工件波及卷入，整块头皮被卷烂，面部永久性挫伤。这么干不行！示范有误！快改！

С точки зрения рук, молодец, но по качеству восстановления , она лишь его почистила и покрасила, на 13.50 видно как суппорт ходуном ходит, болты точить можно.

Looks like this Chineese lathe has some features like my 70 year old Raglan Little John which itself formed into the famous Myford series of benchtop lathes. I bought mine 10 years ago for £50 ($70) and refurbished it. Brilliant lathe can screw cut and turn 24" between centers. I know essentially all lathes are versions of others but the castings from 50 to 80 years ago are so good and stable makes for a superb machine. I dont like the throw away society mentality. Plus this young lady never needs a gym pass.......thats hard grafting and superb skills, so good to watch.

Amazing work Lin, as always. One thing, when you remove a lathe chuck, its a good idea to put a piece of wood under it so it doesn't chip the bed. Also, please don't leave the key in the chuck, in case you turn it on by accident!

I spent a few years operating lathes as a teenager....I forgot to take the key out of a chuck once ..luckily without getting hit by it.

I have a 1977 version of that lathe, much of it is identical. In good working order but it does need some repairs at some point. A beautiful example of high quality manufacturing, I wouldn't swap it for any other I like it so much.

You don't seem to be afraid of any challenges, your fearless and capable. Please be careful with your hair when grinding on motor, i saw a girl have her pull right off her head. Enjoy your videos so please be safe

The Joy you feel in repairing and then using the rebuilt machine is quite apparent. Well done miss. May you have a Lifetime full of such adventures. 🙂

Lin, when you remove the chuck from the headstock ALWAYS protect the ways on the bed with a wooden board. Dropping the chuck on them does damage that can effect accuracy on small work

She isn't a machinist, and I am sure she doesn't care, that thing was heading to get cut up as scrap for a reason. But she will get 18th-19th century results out of this, which is a lot better than a angle grinder drill press and file, and that is good enough for jungle village work.

Being sloppy in something as easily preventable by just using a wood board is not a good policy, machinist or not And in the 19th century we had rose engines of the utmost precision, dunno what u are talking about

@@gt1man931 it's a tool she can and will use to improve her ability to do work. With proper adjustment that lathe will be capable of quite close tolerance work. It was being scrapped because it wasn't time efficient to restore in shop, the time it would require was more valuable than the cost to replace it. The floorspace it occupied would be more efficient dedicated to paying jobs, rather than a free moments project.

Again, I am sure she doesn't care what other people expect out of it. It will be interesting to see how she uses it in upcoming repairs. But I don't expect anything anywhere close to professional machinist level work from her.

With your limited amount of equipment you did a great rebuild.
