My first car was a 71 240Z - I had plans on doing a full resto on it, doing a cobalt blue paint job with some satin black flames. Sadly, I was never able to get that project going and had to sell it on. This vid is going in my likes list. The nostalgia factor alone is worth it.

I like the little animation with the farm truck

So back in 1971, my boyfriend waited a long time to get one of these. We went country driving with the 10-day tags still on the car, missed a curve and wrecked into a rock pile. We were fine, the car destroyed, and the wreckage driven through our little downtown that Saturday night right in front of everyone to see - much to his dismay. lol

@@woodedlane my buddy ex had one of these in the 90’s and I’m almost positive she didn’t know what she was really in possession of. I wanted to buy it from her so bad but my buddy supposedly didn’t know how to get in touch with her. It was a burgundy wine color with black interior.

you believe in santa ? He puts the cars in acid to repaint them. WOW. Jada 1/24 cars by the way. 2020 models, cant be that damaged over one year....

I remember seeing these around as a kid back in the 70s and thinking just how cool they were.

These Datsun were everywhere when I was growing up ...I think there was a 240, 260 and a 280ZX..

All credit should go to the makers but only after this guy, sooooo cute. Just loved it.

Great job, always impressed with the excellent restoration process, what I have trouble with is the enormous amount of toy cars lying around out in the mud,etc. I have yet to stumble upon one…..just not lucky, I guess!

@@johnwattdotca My guess is that he didn't paint after ground off the weathering. Black paint we can see on this video may had been done before 'weathering process' which he won't present there.

@@kazuhix: Thanks for getting into it with me. I'm into model cars and slot cars more than real cars. Spray painters call a bad effect "orange peel", referring to the parts that look slightly encrusted with little pinholes that remind me of orange peel. I have done that using left-over spray cans, a coat of enamel, some acrylic-enamel and lacquer, with lacquer at the end to get it all fizzing and bubbling and settling back down, looking like some alien meteorite. If that's what he did I can understand why he didn't sand it down to the plastic surface. It dries rock hard. I commented on that because after all the effort to rebuild the rest of the car, the paint job, with the rough "pinholes" showing is disappointing, everything else looking perfect and really liking the license plate.

A neighbor of mine used to have a yellow Datsun 240Z back in the middle 1980s. Also, did you see the new Z model that just came out yesterday, out of curiosity? I think that it will become a future classic.
