Restoring a 100 YR Old Swedish Jack!
Ойын-сауық
Hello, I hope you liked the video, a Nike 16HB Harvey Frost jacket
This rather attractive jacket is actually made by Nike in Sweden. Imported to England for supply via Harvey Frost.
It's described as a bumper jack, but apparently the lift arm fits perfectly into the square chassis tube.
Offered with Gordon-Cable cars from 1964 to 1966 (100 cars).
This antique jack was in the corner of the warehouse and I saw it was a good project for restoration, but I emphasize very much that it was very, very rusty. I separated the jack parts with difficulty and with the help of brake oil, the jack piston was stuck I took a lot of trouble to remove it from its place. After disassembling the jack parts, I washed them all well with detergent to remove any grease and then sandblasted them except for the jack cylinders.
Sandblasting did not work and I put them again in a pan of rust removal solution for 24 hours and completely removed them with a wire brush. I will remove the part that has a chain and goes up and down along with all its accessories and start the restoration from this part. I do it, it got stuck and it was very difficult to start, all the screws were released with difficulty and with the help of brake oil. And I sprayed the red paint that is used for most of the jacks on them. I polished some of the parts and then I painted a layer of chrome on them with electrolytic nickel chrome.
I opened and rebuilt the rest of the parts of my road that were very rusty with difficulty
welcome. My name is Behnam and this is the How to restoration channel. My grandfather was a carpenter and my father continued to do the same, and since I have lived with tools since I was a child, I have a strong interest in them. I believe that old tools It should not be thrown away, it should be restored and used again. I believe that everything that is older and has been made before has a solid structure and is very durable and made with principles. All tools today are mass produced with very low quality. My way of thinking is that I was born in 1990 and I will leave the world once, so I do what makes me feel good.I haven't tested many tools yet and I want to reach them one day and my art. I will create with those tools. I earn from KZread and if you want to support me in this way, I would appreciate it if you subscribe to my channel and follow the videos.

It said on the sticker Gordon Cable, the car was Gordon Keeble. It was a hand built upmarket car with an American V8, a grand tourer.
Fun restoration! A lot of different skills went into doing it and making it so nice in form and fiction. I don’t understand why people feel the need to “correct” someone on how they do this sort of work. This is how you wanted to do it and how far you wanted to restore/improve. Fantastic job!! Really enjoyed it.

I have never seen a jack like that before. Splendid restoration job you did on that Swedish jack. It looks much better and it works like a charm too. Excellent work.

I enjoyed the brazing. Many restoration amateur hacks will weld cast iron, which creates majorly _reduced_ strength in the heat-affected weld zone. Nicely done here.

Some don’t like it, but I like that you use filler to smooth rough surfaces. The Jack itself lets you know it’s old so making it look as new as possible is great. Very nice work. Especially with making a new hook. Well done 👍

no way i'd trust that brazing repair to last. Strong as it may be, it'll fail again. That hook is much too weak. it's probably a fundamental problem with this design to begin with.

Gordon-Cable? Not Gordon-Keeble? I looked up Gordon-Cable but only found Gordon-Keeble which made just 100 cars from 1964 to 1967 (and had a seriously cool logo which featured a tortoise even though the Corvette-engined cars were actually fast, lol.)

Good job, but slightly over restored. As a lot of KZread restorers do. Don’t use filler on a rough casting, takes the character away.
@HowToRestoration

I myself am sensitive about this issue and I never want to destroy the originality of the product. The purpose of the filler is to make the piece look a little cleaner.
