About Tofu
Tofu (Chinese: 豆腐; pinyin: dòufu), also known as bean curd in English, is a food prepared by coagulating soy milk and then pressing the resulting curds into solid white blocks of varying softness; it can be silken, soft, firm, extra firm or super firm. Beyond these broad textural categories, there are many varieties of tofu. It has a subtle flavor, so it can be used in savory and sweet dishes. It is often seasoned or marinated to suit the dish and its flavors, and due to its spongy texture, it absorbs flavors well. It is also used by many vegans and vegetarians as a source of protein.
About Curry
Curry is a dish with a sauce seasoned with spices, mainly associated with South Asian cuisine. In southern India, leaves from the curry tree may be included. India is the home of curry, and many Indian dishes are curry-based, prepared by adding different types of vegetables, lentils, or meats. The content of the curry and style of preparation vary by region. Most curries are water-based, with occasional use of dairy and coconut milk. Curry dishes are usually thick and spicy and are eaten along with steamed rice and a variety of Indian bread.

@@shannaveganamcinnis-hurd405 I've been vegan for about 8 years, but it wasn't through choice. I have to use a feeding tube and my formula is soy based with no animal products. It wasn't until my son adopted veganism about 18 months ago that I started prepping and cooking vegan meals. It's interesting and very enjoyable.

This is the first time I have tried your recipe, tasted tofu and unexpectedly it became so delicious.. I didn't know tofu tastes a bit sour and a soy milk smell is also there. But the way you have explained the recipe and described the tofu dish is marvelous!! 👏👏👏👏

My tip ..cut your tofu like you did and cover it in flour and fry it before, add it to your sauce...it will keep the shape and be more firm and has a nice rosted flavor to it... and you can even add some extra spices you like to the flour to give the tofu some taste... but well done recipe!

Yes without a little frying the tofu doesn't drench in that spices when added directly

He did mention you could pan fry the tofu first or just poach the tofu in the curry sauce.

Hi, not adding ginger is a deliberate decision? Would adding ginger will make it more flavourful ? Also can sugar be skipped?. If not, can a sweetner can be used?

I like everything here. Except would use a non silken tofu, with the water pressed out and maybe pan fried first before adding the that yummy curry sauce. I see some other comments for tofu changes below as well. Silken tofu is GREAT for making puddings and pie fillings.
We normally get extra firm Tofu. Please suggest a method of making it soift. Thanking you in anticipation. 🙏

Another tip is to add some of that Currie sauce to the tofu and leave it over night for a more flavorful tofu. Make sure you use a press first to remove all excess water
