"Responses to 7 October: An Anthology" - with Rosa Freedman, David Hirsh & Michal Cotler Wunsh

“Following the horrifying blow of the atrocities of October 7th came the additional shock that virulent antisemitism had actually intensified in its aftermath. In this upside down moral universe feeling has sometimes overwhelmed reflection. But this magnificent collection of essays, at once deeply felt and sharply thought, is an anchorage for the intellect to confront the poisoned madness of this moment. It ought to be compulsory reading.”
So writes acclaimed historian Simon Schama about this new series of essays of responses to the atrocities of 7 October, the first such publications anywhere in the world. The three books focus on, respectively, “Antisemitic Discourse”, “Law and Society” and “Universities”, and were put together by the London Centre for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism (LCSCA).
The Begin Center was delighted to host the books’ co-editors, Rosa Freedman and David Hirsh, as well as Michal Cotler-Wunsh, Israel’s Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism, for an in-depth discussion, chaired by our Senior Fellow, Paul Gross.
Professor Rosa Freedman is a Research Fellow at the LCSCA, and Professor of Law, Conflict and Global Development at the University of Reading.
Dr. David Hirsh is CEO of the LCSCA, and Senior Lecturer at Goldsmiths, University of London
Michal Cotler-Wunsh is currently Israel’s Special Envoy for Combating Antisemitism, having previously served as a Member of Knesset. She is also a prominent public speaker, researcher, and independent policy and strategy advisor on antisemitism, law, human rights, and Zionism.
