When an emergency 999 call comes in, our response officers have a duty to get to the required location as quickly and safely as possible.
Once those blues and twos are switched on, officers are sometimes driving up to 80mph navigating through heavy traffic, country roads, rush-hour periods and weaving their way through narrow one-way streets, busy town centres and coastal areas to get where they need to be.
Depending on whether they’re in urban or rural areas will depend on the time they need to take to get to an emergency, but regardless, they need a high level of training not only to keep members of the public safe, but themselves too.
