Respiratory Therapy - Initial Vent Settings Exercise

Here we break down how to establish initial vent settings, as well as identifying how flow affects inspiratory time, how respiratory rate affects total cycle time, and how those establish expiratory time and I:E ratio.

    Hi..if the patient's RR is > 30 x/mnt, should we initially set the RR (backup) to 30 x/mnt too so that the vent's I:E ratio setting matches the patient's I:E ratio? Thanks

    Hey Bud! I looked at your videos and I can’t find anything that addresses troubleshooting respiratory waveforms and adjusting your vent settings based upon waveforms? Maybe I missed it and you could point me to a video. Really appreciate the content you provide!

    You know what, Todd? I was certain I had one, but I don't. I've covered the topic in various other videos, but not one solely dedicated to waveforms and loops. I will soon though. Stay tuned!

    Do you have a video where all the calculations are explained in more detail? I mean a video that just focuses on the math? I'm terrible at math and for some reason this format was confusing and frustrating. I liked the video where you explained the calculations for IBW and I think it was Vt. Do you have more like that? Thank you again!!

    @@staceyevans7602 Hi, Stacey. No bugging happening here. How are you on blood gas interpretation? I would go there next. I just recently put four videos over the different abg disturbances, including causes and key things to keep in mind when seeing these specific blood gases.

    Very random but necessary question bro, what or why would be the case where when doing insp pause to get plat and compliance .. the compliance comes to zero??

  • @RespiratoryCoach

    @RespiratoryCoach

    4 жыл бұрын

    The only way you can get zero for your compliance is if your okay equals your peep. The only way I can see that happening is if the patient is trying to breathe during the insp hold. The dropping of the diaphragm will artificially cause the plateau pressure to drop. Make sense?
