Thank you. That's hitting the nail and a clear cut explanation of VRIO. I have now subscribed to you and looking forward to see more similar videos.

Hi, firstly, thank you for your video. Very useful. I just have one question: when you mention the "I" component of VRIO - so, the immitability of De Beers diamonds, can't you argue that nowadays there are synthetic diamonds that cost quite a bit less and can just be grown in the lab without the need to access all the mines in Africa? Thank you!

Louis Vuitton costly to imitate? I'm aware that this tutorial is about 7 years old, however, clothing apparel can be cheaply imitated and there also premium fakes clothing which looks almost exactly the same like original model. Different story is a bag producent - Hermes Berking which uses rare materials like crocodile skin to make the bags and this plus valuable human resources, designers, creates sustainable competitive advantage, correct me if I'm wrong.

So you've said there's high cost for imitation for Louis Vuitton ? But that's not right because there are lots of fake bags around the whole world mostly Louis Vuitton therefore the price to imitate the bags are low

its not about the bag, its about the ability to charge 2500$ for saif bag.

What do you mean McDonalds have rare resources ??
@sensei_junior
7 жыл бұрын
actually, it is resources and capabilities. McDonald have intangible capabilities such as brand name that already famous all around the world. Other than that, they also have a low-cost structure which is pretty difficult for other competitor to imitate. As far as i know, both of those resources and capabilities is rare, inimitable, and organized well by McD ^^

McDs certainly have advantages, their market share and profitability perhaps are a proof of this. I don't think though its due to rare resources as in what they sell or even what they do. Resources are not rare, they have economies of scale, organization, brand name and any other advantage you may want to add. But not rare resources by the definition provided in the video.
