Resistance | Alex & Lokelani Wilson

Resistance is the reason why simply being amazed by God will not change us. We can be impressed by Jesus and not in love with him. To be changed by Jesus, we must stop resisting God and instead, trust solely in Him. Let’s find out how by looking at Matthew 13:53-58.

I think I resist God in the area of denying my self so that I can give time for him instead. Its hard being my age and doing that, since I'm still kind of struggling with the fear of missing out. So when I don't want to feel like I'm missing out one day, I tend to give into the flesh rather then giving\ into prayer or reading.

I feel this too. I’m 22 and I’m an artist so there’s a lot of FOMO when it comes to going to events and having alot of friends. You have to make seeking God and loving him your highest goal. As you develop your relationship with God, your desire to do worldly things will fade. Your FOMO will fade and this is a great thing because God will give you new desires that will make you happier than you have ever been. Pray continuously for God to help you focus on him and do your part by setting your mind on things that are pure and admirable and worthy of praise. Find a way to practice your God likeness and he will bless you. Thank you for sharing. I hope this blesses you.

I think I’m resisting God in brining him to my work with me. At times when I’m listening to sermons and podcasts like this, I get nervous that someone will walk in on me listening. But I know that if they do, it’s Gods will and I can share my faith and pray for the ones needed help around my work. I believe that work is a gratitude school for my character. I can see myself growing in so many ways, when I choose God. I am choosing myself ♡

Yes, allow the Holy Spirit to work through you. He has probably sent you to serve the people around you. Never be afraid to show your faith everywhere you go. I’m learning how to do this too.

I relate a lot to Lo. I find resistance in allowing God to work through me. In my in person community, I’m always talking about God and encouraging others to seek his face. But with my online presence, I tend to focus solely on promoting my music( I am an artist/producer) and not really take the time out to make content about God and encourage others to seek him. I also have resistance developing my online presence, because of the my doubts and fear of failure/ rejection. I feel now that if I take the time to show up with God to promote and develop myself, I won’t feel that resistance. I feel this whole time I have been lacking showing up with God and if I do this going forward, it will be easier to show up consistently and with quality. Thank you guys so much for this. I feel lighter now.

This was heavy, weighed upon the soul. Envisioning the One who has not only the power to take the load. But ‘Willing’ for those who didn’t even believe. I BELIEVE! Yet it is still so many that do not. As Pastor Alex was preaching and said how He could’ve given them many wondrous signs, I immediately said aloud in my mind “I don’t blame him for not”. Like who are they and I dare they do this. This happens as in often studying even realizing that it is us who still are like this. Forgive is Father, please.🙏🏾

I think at times I can put off my daily Bible and prayer time with little house chores, completing paperwork, watching a YT video (secular or non-secular). I end up wondering why I didn’t just get right to my devotional time. I think it’s also because it has to do with being still, but I much love being still once I start my devotion and of course I feel a lot better and able to tackle the rest of my day with confidence.

Growing up as a church kid I definitely can see how familiarity has bred contempt in me. I have heard it so much that I find myself tuning out the word and looking to other things instead of to Christ. My resistance I would say is not taking the time or having the desire to seek new heights in Christ and learn more about him daily and apply his word to my every day life as he reveals himself to me. I feel I have become complacent and stagnant.

Now that you have recognized your patterns, it’s time to work through them and not allow yourself to continue in them. Seek Christ with all your heart and your might and he will bless you. Chase God, even when it’s hard and ask him to deliver from your temptations. Make this your highest goal: to be close to Christ and seek him when things are good or bad, and when your bored or lonely. And he will help you. Stay blessed, you are loved

Thank you for this. I’ve been so upset with God. Not understanding why He won’t answer some of the prayers He’s “ stretched “ out. I want to feel His power and hear His still small voice but my hearts been hardened lately.. I also relate to the comment below. I’m 22 and the Lord has (protected) me by taking all of my worldly friends away but I often get sucked into this lie/feeling… loneliness. Please pray for me. My name is Alina

I’m 22 too and as I have grown closer to God, I too have lost a lot of friends and environments where God was not there. It does get lonely but you have to ask God to give you a community of like minded individuals who you can fellowship with. Also, don’t be afraid to take it upon yourself to find this community. Whether it’s by joining a youth group in church, or by creating a community through your online presence. I pray God gives you communities and reminds you that you are never alone. Amen. Be well Alina ❤
