Residential Structure Fire - Wylie Texas Jan 2013 - WFR Dash CAM with Audio

This video is shared to be used for firefighter training and discussion.
Wylie Quint 142 was the first unit on scene. WFR uses the total Quint concept with 4 firefighters on each apparatus. Using (2) CAFS handlines with Novacool UEF 0.4% and TFT CAFS Nozzles. We used PPA to pressurize the house and defend the un burned spaces, this fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the room of origin, and the attic. WFR was able to safely salvage many of the residents belongings.

I watch a lot of structure fires on KZread and I have NEVER seen anything like this before. The research, communication, organization, planning, teamwork, and follow through is nothing like I have ever seen before!! Congratulations and keep up the great work. Please train all the other fire departments in the United States ASAP!! Superb!!
It was refreshing to see the IC far enough away to see the whole picture but close enough to help the interior crew with attack.
This the first structure I've seen that was saved from an attic fire. FOAM is the key ! Great job 💪
This dept. did an outstanding job !! great team work, and great size up too. That's what I like to see, that even when they are still attacking the fire, there are guy's still bring out homeowners personal items ! Job well done !
GREAT SAVE !! Darn good job guys !! That homeowner should be very grateful. Your dept deserves a huge ATTA BOY. That fire could've got out of hand easily .
Your crew got in there and did one hell'va a good job it stopping the fires progression. And thought it was extremely nice to see one of your firefighters, saved some personal belongings of the owners of the house.
Clear concise arrival reports, quick line advancement and super job on the knockdown guys. Nice call using PPV for the interior attack, Chief.
No questions. Outstanding job. Excellent ICS.
That is one heck of a GREAT fire department , I have seen major cities departments that couldn't save that house .
you guys did a great job, im impressed
Strong work guys! Nice knock. Keep safe out there. NRH TX.
AWESOME VIDEO! Wish my department had the resources to purchase a few dashcams. Invaluable training tool! Love the effort on the family pet too..
Impressive - especially with a venting attic fire and that breeze blowing!
FABULOUS JOB OF INTERIOR ATTACK, VERY WELL DONE GUYS!!!!!
Very nice jobs guys, great interior work and coordination! Y'all stay safe down there!
Great work by all including Command!
Very professional, and well done job.
Outstanding! Great incident command...
wonderful save you guys. I was a little concerned about the ppv before the lines were inside but you guys did a hell of a job. Congrats on a good aggressive interior attack. Keep up the great work.
Very nice job. Good attack. Great to have leadership on the scene in those primary minutes after arrival. SEE! Training really does Pay off. Good work.
Smart move using positive pressure to keep it up there in the attic.
Great job done. Team work at its best.
Excellent attack! Great command, great Ops! While devastating to the home owners, your department did an excellent job in preventing a total loss.
Great job!
P.P.V & a 2 line attack. Good use of limited resources, knockdown in 10-12 minutes. A good save & a good days work for this dept. Nice Job.
That one firefighter who saved family photos and wall hangings hats off, good save
Thanks for sharing
Dang....that was a nice stop. Nice documentation as well
Great example of how effective an interior attack can be on even a well advanced fire. It's rarely an easy call for a battalion chief to risk crew by going interior on a house fire, but this one was a no-brainer and the crews conducted a clinic on how to knock down a fire from inside. Few more beautiful sights than water fountaining up from an interior attack - for every bit that goes into the air, a crap-ton more is getting dumped on the seat of the fire.
Novacool UEF Foam Concentrate applied at 0.4% solution application thru CAFS with Combination Nozzles.
This is a great training video. Well executed fire attack, great job doing a 360 of the building, nice job calling for a 2nd alarm, more resources = less risk of getting hurt, Nice nice video.
The use of foam is the trick for a quick knock down !
Great job guys. When the fire is already self venting, it makes conditions inside a whole lot nicer to work in. Stay safe from NOFD.
great job! Made Texas proud with this one brothers! Kicked it's ass!
Very impressive guys!
nice job, good video thanks, Jim
Awesome command!
Just curious as to the three minute gap between the time line was dropped on front lawn and the time when line operated on fire.
Great Communications and Nice Work Period!
Awesome job by command and the firefighters.
Nice work guys!
Way to go guys that was an awesome knock down! stay safe guys, keep up the good work.
I like how thay always get the set up just right way cool
Good attack. It sounded like command stayed in the vehicle for the incident. Interesting approach. It certainly keeps you focused on what's happening and drowns out distracting background noise.
Wicked knock down using CAFS. Great work.
what no body has picked then apart..LOL Great job good hustle and i love the fan going up early. This must be a very progressive dept. and if i am not mistaken using foam right off the bat.
excellent command, excellent attack ... great job fellas ,,!!
Great job. Your team showed a lot of hustle unlike so many other departments.
Nice job. Great work, good leadership in taking charge.
Good job
well commanded, didnt attack till two lines and enough people available, I like it. What type of foam is that you have in your attack lines?
Great job Wylie Fire Rescue!! Job well done.
Great attack coordinated with positive pressure to keep the fire above interior attack crews. Good knock down with resources available.
How’d the fire chiefs know the layout of the home.? Great instructions from the chief.
Nice job
Texas getting it done! nice job!
Is that a CAFS working the interior? Good knock down, nice stop!
Good job guys
Great job, good stop. Good one to use for a training, good firefighting, no running around or on scene drama. Did the puppy make it?
great job men, professional
Is that a CAFS working the interior?
Is he commanding this fire from the cab of the truck? Did he do a walk around the structure? Very quick knock down! Foam and aggressive firefighting! Way to go!
Very Nice Video
AWESOME VIDEO! Wish my department had the resources to purchase a few dashcams. Invaluable training tool!
Good job!!
Very nice work guys. Was that a CAFS line or just a Class A system?
What purpose does the positive pressure fan serve? In my mind it would just fan the flames but I’m also not a firefighter so...
One thing that does baffle me is with attic fires, unless it is electrical caused, what else outside of a lightning strike can cause an attic fire?
great knockdown 1 question why so many quints?
hats off to Texas firefighters good job guys!
Great job guys. Text book attack on a well off house fire. Stay safe.
Good job controlling the fire. Sweet fireman to bring out the family photos to save them from damage! Good job guys!
Impressive!! Wow!!
Why use ppv so soon and on the same side as the fire? Wont that just push the fire farther down the delta wall and adding so much extra air flow could potentially cause compartments to flash quicker.
Positive Pressure Attack with Power fans is not necessary. Pressurizing a house that you are going to pull nearly all of the ceilings will not benefit from this method. You only increase volume of air into and through a flow path and make the fire more intense. every thing else was well done. I appreciate the tactics. Few departments will do it right as seen countless times on U tube.

Some of it came down to plain old timing. Another 1-3 minutes before the fire was reported, it would be tearing through the rest of that lightweight construction. Good aggressive attack and I agree on the PPV.

Hi Jeff, you make sound like your way is the only right way to do some thing.
Hi, No condemning ;but lots of questions. 1st, why did it take that long to assemble the FF at the front door. 2nd, what type of foam are you using and does it work better than other type's?, When they entered, they did do a quick knock down. I'm a ex navy FF and we enter all spaces with a two man intertwined. No. 1 nozzle team was the knock down and No. 2 was the spray team, They kept the heat and smoke away from the teams. I was on both teams.
Did i really just see a little giant ladder.
Well done:-)
good Job
Wow....... Did you want to see how big the fire was going to get before you began to make an interior attack?
Can you apply water to the roof to cool the heat prior to entry? Water was in the hose?
Good job on that interior attack👍 one thing though why doesn't anybody turn their tanks on and put hoods and masks on prior to arriving on scene,.dispatch I'm sure said it was a structure fire.
after a slow start upon arrival the crew did a fast job of knock down. I didn't see anyone do a 360. Like the use of foam right off the bat. Our dept is too cheap to use foam except as a last resort.
our chief would be having a fit if we took this long to get water on the fire
Great job,,quick knockdown..
Job well done. Sometimes an aggressive attack like that is what is needed.
excellent command, excellent attack ... great job fellas ;)
I can't believe how long it takes to get water on and crews inside given persons were unknown.. But I must say knock down was reasonably fast and effective.
Kick azzz response
GREAT INTERIOR ATTACK, WAY TO DO IT!!!!!
10:47: The third "P" ... people, pets, photos
Wtg battalion chief. Barking orders from your vehical
In Germany they would have put out 3 house fires by now. Damn these people are slower than molasses in the winter 🙄
One of the most adrenaline pumping things you can see is the smoke in the air when you are on your way to a fire
Damn Good stop..
Way too long to get water flowing, otherwise good save with salvage. B+ grade.
I'm glad they were more worried about getting fans in place to feed the fire, rather than get hand lines in operation to extinguish it.
Very slow!
Excellent job!!
Great job!
