My other women friends and I have switched to Korean SciFi romantic shows like The Watergod's Bride and the Goblin's Bride. These men and women get to be strong complex characters that make mistakes, learn and develop. The plots are quirky, heartfelt with action, and (dare I say it) actual romance. Thank you dear drinker for being a bastion of snark and humor in a world of metamales.

If you watch any of these bad films you can feel the venom and open hostility directed at us, it's palpable. It used to be subtle but they really don't care anymore. If there's something people really wanna watch though there's the pirate bay, no need to waste money funding spiteful goblins. Ya know as a side note I think Antony Starr would make a really good Wesker, put him in some shades and slick that hair back and we'd be set for an actually good Wesker in a film supposing the writers dont cock it up. I think a movie about Umbrella between the events of RE4 and RE5 would be cool to see maybe a movie that fills in the blanks of what lead up to Chris and Jill meeting Wesker at the mansion and ending the movie with Jills faux sacrifice as she didnt really die of course. I think something along those lines of a more investigative cat and mouse type movie where Wesker infects a town lets say with a virus and basically Chris and Jill have to fight their way through and find clues to get to Wesker and have their fight in the mansion be the finale with a little bit more tacked on for a cinematic experience as opposed to just a quick 2 minute fight. Regardless its sad to see the film adaptions of a great game be so garbage really since the beginning, the only half decent things are the CG movies and thats not saying a whole lot.

Chris and Jill flew with Wesker to the mansion. They could even have a movie about the scientists who were in charge of feeding the mutated dogs at the mansion. The one dude is woken up by another and told to put on a biohazard suit. Once he develops a rash, he is told he doesn't need it anymore. Eventually, he is playing a card game with his friend, and his brain starts to decay.... killing the friend. You see this guy in the first RE game when he bursts out of the closet to attack you after reading his journal. ITCHY TASTY.

Just watched this series on netflix. As someone who hasnt played the games I was intrigued at the start to see what was happening, who everyone was, and where this was going. I got 4 episodes in when I went from "that was weird" and "why would you do that??" to the point where the plot was just falling apart for me. I was starting to predict everything that would happen, because i just guessed the biggest mistake a person could make, and it happened. Followed by the drama that comes along with said thing going wrong. I stuck with it right to the end but with each episode that passed i just got more and more lost. I couldnt understand how these girls who were apparantly altered before birth to be 'geniuses' were making such stupid decisions that I couldnt remember if i had ever been that dumb as a kid (and also as an adult in jades case). In the future segments I kept wondering how Jade had survived what was it, 14 years? in this apocalype based on the couple of days we watched her and all the things she did and the problems she caused. The most ridiculous part was when i could see the obvious stupidity of pulling a body onto the boat for testing without anyone else being made aware of it, and also the obvious tracking trap. Seeing both of them come to pass back to back, how could i feel any emotion? Like.... it's so dumb x 2 i cant possibly feel sad for you afterwards. And then that entire final episode made no sense to me. Whats that word? not consistency... um, the continuity? I keep track of events by mapping things out in my head. And from what i could see Evil lady and crocodile ran left, kid, jade and husband went right. And yet somehow this crocodile that went left (as far as i could tell) turned back into the ocean, capsized jades boat, I was convinced it would eat her husband. Then the crocodile is reappearing next to the helicopter for round 2 despite having been injured in the first encounter? why? shouldnt it has eaten a free meal? Then after the helicopter leaves it appears near the kid which.... My mind couldnt comprehend, does that mean they all went the same direction? or did the crocodile go left, right, left, right ?? If they did all go the same direction then why didnt any zombies chasing the evil lady ever make contact with the kid..... Then after the helicopter unloads a full load into the crocodile like 5 seconds later evil lady is on the ground approaching them and i just couldnt..... how did she land, disembark and walk over to them that quickly after shooting the crocodile? did i accidently fast forward? Honestly it was acceptable at the start when I was learning about the world, but with every episode that went on i just found it so weird that things couldnt be kept consistent and people couldnt seem to encounter drama without making stupid decisions that cause the problems. Albert Wesker was the best part of the show. A friend of mine tells me he was in several games so players probably knew his story already. but i knew nothing and was really interested in everything about him. All of his scenes were great. it was frustrating seeing him protect his kids with everything he had and still cop all that abuse from them, but the actor did amazing. he single handedly kept me watching and made the flash backs better than the future for me.

The female power influx is especially weird since the games were actually pretty good about that kind of thing. Chris, Jill, Leon, Claire, Ada, Sheva, and Berry are all as capable and competent as each other and I think that's a lot of why those characters are popular.

The fck up of Resident Evil really started when they got the literal perfect Jill Valentine (played by Sienna Guillory) and chose to make her a side-character. She could’ve carried the entire franchise-given her charisma, dedication to her role (with her even playing RE3 to better understand Jill), and her overall likability- with a far better script and plot.

It's not even really a matter of it being "top secret". Based on what Umbrella was working on there, this would have been a biosafety level 4 facility. Those are, if the makers of this nonsense were making the slightest attempt at realism, required to be built in such a way that what the girls were doing would have been functionally impossible.

Honestly when it comes to “strong female characters” it’s starting to get a bit ridiculous. These writers think they can take the toxic men personality that people didn’t like on screen and just give it to the female characters. if no one liked that on men why would they like it on women either. It just gives you these cold asshole characters that are never likeable not to mention they’re just flipping it around instead of making it actual equality. The whole thing just pisses me off

When men do it, it's toxic. When women do it, it's "standing up for yourself", or "expressing your power", or... pick your hackneyed phrase of the day. Seriously, read some of the books meant for children these days; it's cringe-inducing. Girls: "You can do anything! You are awesome!" Boys: "DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING WITHOUT PERMISSION!"

My friend you are asleep on politics. I can't blame you but saying that the portraial of women and men is "starting to get rediculus" is an understatement. List the films that have many man in them and woman that reflect the actual qualities of woman. You will find it's has degraded since cinema started. So why should the cultural marxists stop now? The audience has slowly been boiled to the point where most movies have nothing in common with real life. They move closer to the shit Marcuse wants to see in the world. They just entered overdrive. Time to stand and speak up now or you will never see films like James bond or top gun ever again

Those traits didn’t become toxic in men until they gave them to women. Since the dawn of civilisation (i.e. post tribal), what would be considered masculine traits have been the governing paradigm; what gets laughingly referred to as “the patriarchy”. So once women were given equality in the areas they didn’t have it before (but conveniently got to keep their supremacy in any other areas) then in order to compete in society they adopted masculine traits. But since they still couldn’t compete with those traits (almost because those traits have some kind of, oh, I donno, *biological* source), then the narrative had to be changed so that when a woman demonstrates them it’s “strong” but when a man demonstrates them it’s “toxic”.
