@@teejm1ck78 I figured out he was mold in RE7 because I got lucky enough to trigger a rare cutscene at the very beginning of the game where Jack catches you in the room off the kitchen with the hatch. He cut off Ethan's leg below the knee with his shovel and then coaxed him (like the mom of a 2 year old coaxes her kid to stand up again after falling down lol) to use a bottle of healing goop juice on it and push the two halves back together and it perfectly mended in SECONDS. Considering he was using his hand but it wasn't fully healed YET it made sense something about Ethan had changed after he lost his hand.

@@obiwankenobi5808 LOL yeah I get what you're saying. What I like about Ethan is that it hasn't occurred to him before now that he had the E-Series. When it occurred to me when he attached his hand and he looked down at some point and I saw scars and I was all like no he can't be infected and then I realized he really probably was. Because he kept seeing Evelyn everywhere which meant that he was in the hive mind and then it got confirmed he was in the hive mind and I was like oh shit he really is. But the weird thing is I didn't realize until that part of the video that he didn't even know that he was infected preriod.. I mean I just assumed he did. I mean with Jack dying repeatedly Zoe going Crystal whatever and then coming out as an anime princess. .And just a bunch of other stuff that is weird and happens around them and Lucas buggering off after apparently Chris kill them I mean it's been confirmed that he's not coming back anytime soon. But Jack's been repeatedly killed by Ethan and Chris so he won't be back for a while. I just wonder about what Ethan's doing I have no doubt that he survived that but I do have doubts that he'll ever see anybody in the series again probably because they don't want to write him. So even if he wasn't dead much like hunk and much like a bunch of other characters like Carla you can look the same but they're all getting anything somewhere else. Kind of sucks could you take a character like Ethanway more interesting than most charactera but you know but also so traumatized and he and Mia they aren't really well like Leon Chris when it came to action heroes. Therefore I guess it's okay to let them go and live their life I guess that's why they're bringing the daughter in this a new generation of heroes. A few things didn't surprise me Ethan being infected Mia probably still being infected the kid totally being infected and pretty much everyone in the bsaa deciding to use it as a weapon. I mean wouldn't you it doesn't take your mind and you're a better and more badass self. And there's always a chance that you'll bond to it like Jack or Lucas. Unfortunately poor Margaret did not.. and Jack's alone. That's sad I seriously doubt that that's going to be mia's ( being alone I mean)fate but who knows it's not my series to write I do speculate though you have a good day.

It was directly stated in RE7, Zoe tells Ethan that him, her, and Mia have something in their bodies and they need to get it out before leaving. Plus, even if they didn't spell it out like that, it still should've been obvious; the dude gets his hand sawed off and the next day someone literally staples it back on and it works like new. You can also get your leg chopped off randomly during gameplay and he just glues it back on the same way he does with his right hand in RE8

Inaccurate. The “virus” is the Mutamycete (or Mold.) Eveline is a Bioweapon designated as E-001. Created using the Mold and a human baby. The Mutamycete’s original source is the Megamycete.

The music in this scene was amazing. Elevates this scene to an emotional one and what's amazing is that Ethan after realising that his dead and that he's getting to the end all he can think about his daughter back and making sure she is safe. Talk about improving a character from the last game

There was a lot of plot armour nonetheless. The 4 lords (probably apart from Donna) would finish him off at multiple occasions. Only Miranda did that and since she didn't destroy him completely, he came back

I guess the difference between Ethan and Mia, is Ethan was dead when infected with the mold and was consumed entirely by it. But instead of losing himself to the virus he was able to retain his humanity, where for Mia it was a constant struggle to stay sane and in control.

I think Ethan died after Jack stomped him on the head. Remember Jack was insanely stronger than anyone, and a stomp to the head could kill someone. While dead the mold had already infected Ethan and brought him back to life, giving him his regenerative ability. The only reason why Jack brought Ethan to the main home was because the family was going to eat him. Remember when potential "Family members" die from the mold Jack cuts them up and Margarite cooks their organs so they can eat. So seeing that Ethan was alive, they knew he was one of them.

this game rly had ethan reattaching his limbs having us think “vidyagame logic lol” then it turns into one of the biggest plot twists in modern gaming history

It’s kind of interesting to have Eveline act as something of an exposition source here rather than a foe. Providing clarity instead of causing chaos is more in line with a very tentative ally instead of an outright enemy.

This makes sense now, remember in re7 where Jack cuts off Ethans leg and tells him to come over there and use the healing bottle. Jack knew Ethan was infected with the mould and thus would be able to reattach his leg , hand etc if he used whatever was in that bottle. Surely???

I think if he manage to meet Mia again, he will keep living, short duration probably, but not perished like other molds. Ethan is just that determined

Depends on the outcome of your play style but in 7 when you’re reckless enough to have Ethan’s leg chopped off he just poured first aid to fix it. One does not simply glue a severed leg back with some liquid even Ethan reacts witnessing it. But then again Ethan fixed his palm that was stabbed by Mia the same way

Epic reveal, right in everyone's face. While some suspected, nobody truly understood how. Great stuff!

Y'know Ethan confused and stuttering makes it more badass. Well for me atleast, he sounds like he looking for something to hold on to and once Eveline mentions "Family" he finds it.

It was at this point I realized I had an emotional connection to Ethan. Up until then, it was just an RE FPS to me. Great game.

For those who played Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Jack Baker killed him and assumedly, Mia Winters. However, while the most of the Baker family are given Eveline's gift to them, they are infected, excluding Zoe Baker. However, when Ethan is Unconscious, he finds out himself is in Eveline's mind, where Zoe Baker and Jack Baker are still trapped inside (Whils Marguerite is absent due because Ethan put her out if misery) He reveals the truth behind Eveline's motives that she is just a crazy womanchild who wants famoly. While Jack also tells Ethan the truth that All Bakers were Victims of Eveline's Play. Aside Marguerite, He even includes Lucas Baker who was absent from the Eveline's mind because she has a weak connection to him. That is because Jack still believes Lucas is a kind-hearted man like him, while Lucas is already a mentally Sick Kid even before the events of the game (At least Lucas, along with Jack found Mia Winters and Eveline from the storm). Marguerite become the first victim of Eveline's gift as Jack sacrifices himself as the next victim to keep his wife away from Zoe. As For Ethan, he is directly reanimated by Eveline's mold thanks to the Bakers. But the mold didn't reached Ethan's mind and Mia is able to be cured but not Completely. And Zoe is the only Sane woman of the Baker Family. And What about Lucas Baker...? Like Ethan, he is able to take Eveline's gift Personally but he is a subverted Example that contrasts Ethan Winters. He was already a mentally sick kid even before the events of the game, even his parents are unaware of his secret that Lucas let the bully die at the attic unlike Ethan who gains sanity, and His victims are killed because of his Craziness then he tried attacking a well-Experienced Veteran Boulder Punching Chris Redfield by a surprise. Only to be fails and completely lose his entire sanity to be a Monster. Years Later, Mia Winters is Killed by Chris Redfield. The Soldiers are securing Rose And Ethan much to Ethan's Distraught Anger. The Paramedics is analyzing the corpse of Mia Winters, but she is suddenly reanimates and back to life amd starts attacking them and escapes after taking Rose Winters. The truth is A Soldier reports to Redfield that the real Mia Winters is still imprisoned while it is unknown the soldier's Fate afterwards and Chris also knows Mia is still alive and he brought a woman who impersonates Mia, Chris really should explain it to Ethan earlier. And that is when the Lycans Attacks the convoy. The Impostor Mia Winters who is a corpse that suddenly back to life, is actually Mother Miranda Who pretends to be an Old Hag. Mother Miranda who is once A Biologist has a conflicting Ideals against her colleague as well her mentor, Oswell Spencer. Miranda's ideal goal is she wanted to bring Her child, Eva back to life because she died to Spanish Flu while Oswell Spencer wants the bio-weapon to be sold in a Black Market, and he really wanted at least one for his Apotheosis to rule the Mankind. She might have been the woman behind Eveline's mold because she harvested one of her remnants as the creation of Megamycete and then, she planned to kidnapped Mia Winters to impersonate her, completely deceiving Chris Redfield and kickstarting the events of the game where he along with his comrades (seemingly) kills Mia Winters who is actually Miranda in Disguise. By the time as Ethan is Unconscious yet again, Eveline still haunts him even after he kills him because she reveals that He was reanimated by her molds and Ethan was already killed as one of Jack Baker's Victims. The same Applies to Jack Baker after his supposed death in a Final Confrontation against Ethan Winters. Then His Brother, Joe Baker, put him out of his lifetime Misery for once and for all, to save Zoe Baker, the last surviving Child of Baker's family. After realizing He was died from the start years back when he is "Welcomed" by Jack Baker only to be reanimated by the mold. He knows he have to save Rose and hand Rose over Chris To make sure she returned to Mia Winters from The Hands of Mother Miranda who keeps calling her Eva. He have to sacrifice his life to destroy The Megamycete, even if he have to destroy the entire village and the Castle. And so, the Father's story ends... The door closes... The story of The Daughter begins... As the another door opens.

So ethans corpse gets revived by the mold (which first of all just wtf) but while it turns his whole body into mold, his mind isn't mold. But his brain is alive, even though it was dead, but it's not mold. Fucking garbage writing lmao.

you'll be surprised how there are people who never suspected Ethan was always infected by the mold in RE7. It was obivious how he heals himself but many passed that off as non-canon events since other RE characters get hit by attacks that should have infected them but in lore they never got hit nor infected.

When you think about it, is it ethan's condition is the one result miranda wants from reviving her children? a complete revival from dead? because he was dead before infected by the mold, and he was completely revived without altercation.

So not only was the mold in RE8 the source of E-series and Eveline in RE7, and that Miranda is somewhat connected to the beginning of Umbrella, but Ethan's been full of that mold since first meeting Jack.

Kinda reminds me of Prototype, like how the real guy was already long dead and what's left is just a construct made by the virus

This was epic twist and I love it.

3 Years Passed By I Still Got Goosebumps.

I want to believe when Ethan was forced fed the mold, then that was the point where he was infected. That would made more since then being attacked then infected.

I loved Eveline in the last game and it was good to hear her voice again but, I was really disappointed that she stayed hidden in the shadows in this scene.

I didnt even question him being able to reattached limbs, I thought it was just a game mechanic. Such a good twist. If Ethan only had Jack's regenerstive abilities, maybe he could have lived.

I really feel bad for Ethan more than any character in this franchise. I really love Ethan even tho a lot of people don’t like him, but I really like him it’s kinda sad to see him suffer this much. But I don’t like either mia or rose 🗿

That part was beautiful, Ethan apparently was already giving up, until it seemed that he was losing his memory, because he repeated "Family" several times... but that word reminded him of his goal and he only redoubled his will, a great scene and I think that made many feel sympathy for ethan, something that the other protagonists of RE could not achieve

Ah he's mold but not like the crazy mold. Makes sense. In other words, like that comment said, Ethan is just built different.

I don't know why the reason for Ethan's "immortality" is treated like a big revelation here. In RE7, the only plausible explanation was that he was infected by the Bakers, and thus by Eveline's mold. Back then, the game strongly implied that some Strong First Aid Med was certainly not the only thing helping Ethan recover or reattach his limbs.
