It is only when you don't underestimate the importance of game soundtracks when you get masterpieces like this one. I am sure RE2 would never had been so successful without a score like this.

I agree with you. Back in the days we didn't have immense graphics. We had to use our imaginations and this music really captivated and sent shivers through me. Every musical score in these games is terrifying.

As soon as I heard this theme I was instantly ten years old again (original was in 98) and I'm 32 now. Hopefully it'll be a family tradition since my son likes to watch this game. Won't sit still through any thing else. Resident Evil 2 remake? Lamp post in his mom's lap

But for the graphics, obviously, as far as I'm concerned the original is a much better game =o Better music, zombies die as zombies should, you can feel the recoil on the upgraded shotgun and it really makes damages. Not like the new game's joke of a "peeshooter", and there's no annoying mister X bugging you nonstop while you try to have fun playing the game.

@@Groktargash Oh yeah. He only chases you in the original for a few brief moments then stops. I kinda like that he’s constant in the remake though because being a third person shooter unlike the original it automatically makes the game easier than a game with tank controls. So it’s understandable they boosted the difficulty in some aspects. Like how there’s actually zombies in the library.
Even as a kid playing this, I would sit there and just Listen to this games music. This song in particular. This is back when Horror games relied on atmosphere and isolation to set the tone and scare you and not rely on cheap jumpscares. (Don't get me wrong, RE2 original had a few jumpscares but it didn't rely on them)

I love that soundtrack. Prefer that soundtrack then the remake. This original music had so much atmosphere.
Running through the horrific streets of Racoon City and then to end up inside the glorious police station with this song playing was just Incredible !
Finally unlocking a door that opened back into the RPD Lobby & hearing this theme was like a relief lol.
Damn the amount of time spent in the RPD (I played this on N64) you can really never forget this theme music. Great game!
I love Resident Evil 2, I can remember playing it for the first time when I was a kid. My dad rented it for me from Blockbuster. This music transports me back to such a unique feeling...it's difficult to explain. I can almost hear the echo of footsteps as you navigate the station.

The bells really have a police station, sheriff, law enforcement, department kind of vibe. Like the movie Dirty Harry with the badge and diseased officer list at the very beginning.
Never played the original re2, put on the og ost in Remake and for some reason felt really nostalgic.
Theme is the perfect blend of feeling like you are in a sanctuary but still a feeling that looming dread could be around the next corner. It is only your first night in a nightmare, your nightmare and it is only the beginning.
Great upload!
I literally get chills every time I hear this. It instantly reminds me of being 11 and playing this at my buddy's house after school every day.
Great idea for a video, GA! Kind of bringing old and new together, I like that. Now I wish the remake itself had an option to switch between old and new music.

@@GamingAmbience Agreed. The remastered music is barely present in the game and when it does play, it's so subdued that you can barely tell it's a remix of anything. For all its faults, RE3R at least did a much better job remixing the music.

Resident evil 2 music is soothing to me reminds me of when I had played Resident evil 2 in 2017 on PS1 to wander into the memories he had My father there before they did the Resident evil 2 remake And only now do I understand. The music of Resident evil 2 R.P.D main hall is soo relaxing After all, I should thank my father. ~ :3
Although I played RE2Make with the classic soundtrack, I forgot how fast that arrengement begins to loop.
Lmao this has nothing to do with resident evil but im when I play lethal company and exploring those buildings this theme is always in my head when I'm exploring alone just waiting for something to come out of the dark ☠

this classic original version music also has the extended 60 minutes version as well.
Original music matches perfectly in the front hall
I can still hear the Echoed foot steps
The perfect horror soundtrack Reminds me of my childhood back then and it sounds so scary i muted the tv
It's too dangerous to go back outside.
I prefer the remake version of this music. The original feels more in-line with horror, but the remake version feels more emotional and tragic, which sounds prettier and also fits how the characters don't feel as two-dimensional anymore.
I never played the original game but I must say I prefer this ost over the remake one

the police station in Parasite Eve would make a great ambience video (Song name Out Of Phase) the music is more lounge-jazz tho.... like TF-29 or UNATOCO in Deus Ex series.
