I think the charm of 2 gets overpowered by the flashy new graphics but overall it’s one of my favourite remasters ever.

I was 7 years old when this game came out and I remember my uncle (who was a massive gamer) got it when it came out in the UK. Went round his house to watch him play it, and the part where Claire is in the diner and all the zombies appear at the window terrified me, so much so I ran out of his house straight home hahaha. Sadly he passed away a few years ago and it saddens me to think he won't get to play the remake along with other games he would have loved like Resident Evil 7, Alien Isolation and so on. I think for a lot of us this game wasn't just a great game it also brings back memories of times, places, and people. Real massive dose of 90's nostalgia watching this. Cannot wait for the remake!

All Kendo had to do was stay behind the counter, like he did before Leon/Claire got in the room. That way, he could have ran out the back door or had enough time to shoot the 4 zombies. At least in the remake, he was smart enough to not get killed by zombies, but decided to go by suicide.

@@steelbear2063 He does know a lot, but also misses a few things, that's for sure. In none of his playthroughs does he pick up the ammo in the helicopter. It's also worth noting that if you use the shotgun and magnum upgrade, one should do so only when out of ammo as the gun will be full after the upgrade. This is a pretty average and slow playthrough. Not sure what all the saves was about, and guy sure did get bitten a lot.

I was on second grade in elementary school when I played this. Never made past the basketball court. Got cornered in the alley, dropped my controller on the floor and hyperventilated as the zombies ate Leons ass. I had nightmares everyday for atleast a month, and I still see zombie related nightmares now and then. It wasn't until I watched Shaun Of The Dead when I could not get freaked out by zombie movies. I still find them scary in a correct context, but I think I'm finally more or less over from RE2. 5/5, would have a traumatizing childhood experience again.

Music was a big reason for me getting into the GTA series. Those games introduced me to a lot of bands that I might have otherwise been unfamiliar with.

Sounds like a man with a classic refined taste for simplicity. I agree back then games were creative and amazing. Just like old school hip hop, without big corporations and the need to make millions these creators were able to produce classics. like MGS 1, Tenchu stealth assassins, many JRPGS, Mario 64, the list goes on. PS2 had some good ones too but as time went on things have gone to shit!!!!

I had to re-live my teenage years playing this legendary game on RetroArch recently. It has aged great, and its just as great today as it was when it was released back in 1998. There were 7 games that defined console gaming in the late 90s. Resident Evil 2, Final Fantasy VII, Super Mario 64, GoldenEye007, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, and Syphonfilter. There were others, but these 6 helped make PlayStation and Nintendo 64 that much bigger. Resident Evil 2 was released on Wednesday January 21st 1998.

@@justkf2things443 Modern games suffer from trying to do a significant amount more work in a much tighter schedule, relatively speaking. The resident evil games don't look super crap and great for their time because of the fixed camera angles, allowing them to render higher quality textures that don't need to move and be re-rendered in a 3D space, like a modern game. Notice how any environmental texture on the original resident evil games are noticeably higher quality than any character models. I think modern games are visually still pushing boundaries, it's a lot of the other areas that lack a lot of polish due to severe time constraints.

He passed away in 2009 and I remember playing it years later and then in 2019 I was playing the remake with my girlfriend while my son slept in the bassinet. While the remake definitely has more atmosphere, it's refreshing to actually be able to see what's happening in the original.

One of the best things about these original games was the puzzles, the remakes left most of them out.. as well as the original soundtracks and sound effect were always awesome!

I grew up with the first resident evil then I remember my dad getting the second game and I flipped my shit when I first played it. Amazing...

I'm playing this for the first time (wasn't alive in 1998 lmao) and oh my god this has been so helpful, I'm not good at games like this and I've been stuck on some of these puzzles for hours

What a nostalgia, i remember playing this when I was 16, during high school years,

Ramake was good, but returning to watch this acrually makes me realize how good the original one was. More puzzles, better level design etc. Mr X. charsing us added some atmosphere but thats it. Here you can feel that more rooms with more puzzles actually makes me want to dive in again.

@@Doom.Keeper Silent Hill 1 was released a year later and had 1000 times better level design than original RE 2, you're just talking from nostalgia. I love all original RE games too, but facts are facts!! Even the designers acknowledged all these flaws when doing the remake. A police building with no toilets? Lol

Just finished the remake and I stunned with how incredible they managed to recreate this with modern tech. What an all-around masterpiece!

Where has the time gone? this game was the best the 1990's have past by so quickly and here we are in the 2020's

Ahhh.. the good'ol days.. I got goose bumps hearing the save room music.

I remember back to 1999, when I first played this game, I had nightmares. Funny thing is I played this game on PC with one of my friends and we got stuck at the first screen because we were too young to understand that we can run through hordes of zombies and we were too scared as well.

Any fans of the original i just finished the remake and it was amazing.

I remember when I played Resident Evil 2 for the first time, I was 11years old and I felt so intrigued and distressed at the same time... It's something I can't describe that easily, it was like an odd sensation: the more I loved playing the game and the more I feared to keep moving forward. Well, I'm almost 30 now and I can truly say that Resident Evil 2 is still my favorite video game of all time.

Real life has terrified me far more than any game

This game still holds up very well, i remember me and my cousin used to play this in the late 90’s as kids and dying 1000 times before we even got to the police station lol

My best friend in high school introduced me to Resident Evil, and He played it for me at his house I'd never known such a creepy atmosphere

The backgrounds/music of this game and the backgrounds/music of Resident Evil 3 (ps1) are STILL INCREDIBLE

Ahh I'd play this in my dads studio apartment at midnight. He worked night shift and I remember being scared shitless while playing but so fun haha

Still the best when it comes to atmosphere, even compared to the remake☺️ And the music is beyond words!

I remember this game. I was hooked on it. I would play it for hours. When I got to the end boss I had hardly any life and no herb or any way to heal. I had to fight the final boss perfectly and not get hit at all. One hit and I was dead. I finally beat it. Lol. Back when I had no real problems and just hanging out with friends and playing PlayStation.

Honestly the best upload I’ve ever seen/heard of Resident Evil 2 I work graveyard shifts and Watching this and listening to this in the background is good. No audio clipping or video in poor quality. It’s all Very good also good job playing through it

You are so right there matey, atmosphere, sound effects and music. the graphics just did what was needed, set you on edge and let your mind do the rest....98' 25 bloody years ago. I dont recall living a single one of those years..

@@99dazemusic It's not. What with the cliche re write of Ada introducing herself as a "FBI Agent". The fact this is supposed to take place in 1998 and yet Ada has "secret technology like she's from the future and not to mention the 2050 looking underground umbrella facility. Mr X never became his Super Tyrant form instead he got designed with the look of the tyrant from RE1 HD Remake with one giant claw arm and one hand that still remained human in form...... So no, it's not. The original had so much more emotion when Ada fell and Leon thought he lost her.....voice acting in 1998 is superior to the remake version. Claire's story didn't make an impact like in the original. Not to mention removing Sherry's replaced gameplay through the sewers with escaping some made up orphanage that was nowhere in the original game. You're right. Nostalgia purist takes me over. I could care less about being able to aim at the legs of zombies and shooting them off to make easy escapes. It's easy gameplay designing in order to please the new gamers today who do not like a challenge in games anymore. OG RE2 fan for life 💀☠😈

@@rockerdude8000 I responded to NYG5's comment. He was talking about the cop who gets eaten by the zombies in the beginning of RE 2 remake. I know it's kendo in the original 1998 version who gets eaten. Before commenting you should understand what the people are discussing about. "Stand back sir. I have got this" is a dialogue from RE 2 remake and it wasn't spoken by Kendo. Voila, clear your confusion.

This one has charm. I'm not nostalgic for it cause I wasn't a 90's kid but I can understand the appeal.

I was too young to have really remembered this era of gaming. Nevertheless I’m more attached to it than any other; there’s something powerful about these classic pre-rendered backgrounds and the fixed camera angles ❤
