Thanks for this. Got a second hand laptop from a pawn shop for a super cheap price because it had a bios password block. Probably saved a good deal of money just because the pawn shop people didn't know how to get around it and didn't think to search online.

With all due respect to any other help I've received off of KZread throughout the years most of which being insight and tips or tricks regarding automotive stuff. While appreciated it doesn't fit the category of "life saver" which for me is what yours definitely does. I somehow spaced the admin bios pw and was about to try and short the NV that the bios lives on. Mike.... (rant incoming). As someone who regularly browses KZread for technology content I am constantly barraged by different tech channels that I normally don't frequent. Yes it's just the KZread algorithm doing it's thing, but I'm disgusted by the trash out there. While I respect the hustle of these "techtubers" most of it is just rehashing the same info that's floating around over and over and over again. And then a new video the next day putting another spin and the same old data. "THIS IS IT!" "THEY DID IT!" insert ridiculous moron face on thumbnail. Thank you for actually helping people with product insight and problem resolution and offering your opinion on tech news when it's relevant rather than repeating the same thing OVER and OVER for clicks. I really do like laptops that have the page up/down on the right side of the keyboard as that makes scrolling through websites all day really easy and less fatiguing than trying to drag the side scroller all day.

Some laptops like my hp probook just lock bios after invalid password attemps without any message displayed. Following this video I locked my bios by myself and now will need to bring the laptop to service

I have 2016 Omen pc, even after giving invalid key three time, it asked for spareKey(which I don't have) no code was provided. I powered off the pc and it turned on in normal manner so back to square one. I wanted to turn on virtualization in bios

There was 1code on this sight that worked but now how do I proceed cuz it unlocked my computer but it went to the full boot w.o my doing anything after hitting enter and I am clueless to what I gotta do now cuz I haven't turned it off yet either and don't want to make a mistake that can't be undone w.o a disc I don't have a disk for it anymore

Hi, I'm trying to reset the BIOS password on a HP Probook 5320m. After powering on the device and attempting to enter in the password incorrectly 3 times, on the third try it goes to a screen containing an on screen keyboard, when i hit escape to exit this screen it displays the message: "Authentication Failed, System Locked, Press the power button to restart the system."(Each message is on a different line) and return no error code, this laptop is from around 2010 and im hoping to use it as a very basic and not very powerfull linux server. Upon completion of the installation of the different linux distro (i've tried multiple) and rebooting the system it returns the error "non system disk or disk error" i've tried multiple hard drives including the one i belive to be original to the system and nothing changes, some articles that ive read online suggested making sure the boot order is correct in the bios but i can only choose a boot device when the computer starts and not get into the bios because it's locked. I will be trying bootable USB system repair solutions, If you see this message and have any advice i would greatly appreciate it and if you don't end up seeing this message i hope you know how usefull your video is even though it didn't resolve my issue it may help me in future situations.

@@mikesunboxing I have. They're not very helpful either. One said to get bitkocker recovery key from Microsoft, it didn't work. Another said to contact my IT team, as if I didn't know that. They don't have the power-on-password either. They will contact the vendor who at this point are my last hope. If they don't come through, it seems changing the motherboard or BIOS chip is my only alternative. Apparently the CMOS battery restart option doesn't work on this pc

does this reset the laptop or na? Also am I supposed to do this way even while I know the admin password, all I want to do is clear it.

Turn on or restart the computer, and then quickly press esc. Select Main, and then select Reset Security to Factory Defaults. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Hi I tried this on my hp probook g8 240. Unfortunately it didn't work. My bios fw just asks me to turn off. I can actually still get into Windows. Is it possible for me to download the bios fw you have to solve this problem? Or is there another way which doesn't involve soldering?

Hp g7 15 ax201ngw this system not working. BIOS "not giving unlock password" when I enter wrong password Do you have a different method for me? Removing the cmos battery doesn't work. I entered the wrong password 10 times. It just reboots the laptop. on hp g7 15 ax201ngw laptop this didn't work. : ( Information on other sites is as follows. " On HP Notebooks, the password is usually stored in an eeprom on the motherboard, not in cmos. An eeprom programmer/eeprom reader (electronic device) is probably required to retrieve the password."

The button will not let me reply to your question of what type of laptop. I don’t know because the bios has that info. 15e1000 but there. are many units in that category. In bios is the exact one. It is not a touchscreen Thank you.
