    That “ quick change money scheme “ I remember Ryan I’Neal acting out in his movie “ Paper Moon” . They just keep their cashier busy with interrupting the transaction for different requests for how their change is doled out, confusing the cashier and ending up w/the buyer having the merchandise + more change than they deserve.

    Glad you didn't get scammed! A good rule of thumb is to not keep large amounts of cash available to even be able to make that kind of change. Robbery or stealing is always a possibility too. Be safe😊

    I am glad you cought it. I use a purse that goes across my body. It has a small pouch where I keep the big bills. I will also go in my house and take most of the big bills including 20s out and stash them in a drawer. I don't like to have too much money on me.

    The gluten free, organic, free roam audacity of those people! The fact that they were wealthy and willing to steal from you pisses me off. A lot of us live well below federal poverty line, I don’t have lots of hundred dollar bills to confuse Karen 😂😂 I’m so sorry that happened to you!

    Thank you so much for posting this video. I have garage sales twice a year. I will be looking out for this my son and I go to garage sales every Saturday and we always make sure that between the two of us if one of us has to break $100 bill one of us has changed Never bring large bills with you to garage sales. What I hate is when they come in crowds they try to confuse you at your checkout I make them Waite in line, they don’t like it. You can only do one thing at a time.

    I understand holding on to such memories. It took us 22 years to let go of our late sons things. We decided we didn't want our other kids to have to go through the things because we had held on to them. It is hard but after the fact it was a great release.. Our memories are still in our heads but not in a room with the door closed.

    Unfortunately it happens all the time to cashiers. On a side note for those talking about fake 50’s and 100’s… 20’s are just as popular. You can buy a marker that tells you if a bill is real or not. If you mark the money and it gets darker, it’s fake.

    Don’t make change until you get her money. Someone tried to do that to me when I worked as a cashier. The store required us to close the drawer and call to have our drawer counted while the complainant waited.

    The same thing almost happened to me when I sold my son's motorcycle! The motorcycle was $4000.....THey handed me $2000 in $20s. We counted it and said...$2000...where is the other $2000 and they pulled it out of their other pocket!!!!!! We sold them the motorcycle, but I super upset. I won't ever forget it. I agree....keep the 100s in the house ....The guy didn't apologize to me either. I'm sorry...I'm glad you caught it!

    We have sales a couple of times a year. I don't accept anything larger than a $20. We have a cash box. However, I put all 20's in my pocket.. They never go in the box. I know what you are saying about not wanting to get rid of parents' belongings after they passed away. It felt like I was throwing them away. It took about 10 years to part with stuff.

    Good catch. I have a fanny pack and I always put 50 and 100 bills in the back zipper compartment and then remove them when I get a minute. I have a heavy item on the table like a rock. When I have to count out cash. I put the money they handed me under the rock on the table in front of the customer so it doesn't blow away and they can see what they gave me.I do not count any money out until They give it to me. I count out the money to them I am giving them back so if there is any questions they can see what they gave me. I have had product walk off before and my husband had 12 cd's taken. They left the cassettes in the box and took the cd's out . We have now installed a camera every time I have a yard sale.We make it visible for everyone to see. I now set in front of the yard sale. They have to walk by me at the table to get out. I have started to take Venmo now. I would of missed out on over $200.00 if I had not taken it. I always have people come at the end of the yard sale and try to hustle me for things. Sometime I let them and sometimes I don't.

  • @dbessette19
    @dbessette19Ай бұрын

    Yes, yard sale people want it , and cheap, or free. My mom won't donate. She keeps for next yard sale. Crazy. You need two or more people there. One is stealing while other is talking with you! Thank you for this.!

    I also find it weird to go to a yard sale and only have 100.00’s. I go to sell at community yard sales and I am always being asked if I have change for an hundred I do not carry that large amount for change I feel like that is too much. The largest price I charge is about twenty dollars depending on what is other than that I only charge 5.00 to .50 for items

    I used to work retail. Once a customer came in and asked my fellow associate for change for $100, she gave him smaller bills. Then he handed one back said can I have smaller, this went on a couple times. By the end of it he conned the store out of $20 bucks by just confusing her.

    I sell baked goods every weekend. I never keep more than $20 in change in bag that I give change from. $20s go in my front pocket. I do not accept any $50s or $100s without using the black verify pen. And I have to know the person. If it’s a new customer I tell them I only accept small bills or I take cards or cashapp/applepay. Too many scammers out there. So glad you caught yourself.❤
