Rescuing the Third CD 245 off a Pole in Pelzer

The third one popped out with the original wood pin attached and is our best find. A fourth CD 245 was pinned against a tree and couldnt be removed. No pole is a good one without thorns and weeds around the base!

Lovely find, that's close to a $100 insulator! I would advise to make an effort to catch them when they fall off the pole though....I busted my best wild find (a presumably mint light steel blue Petticoat beehive) when it fell onto a concrete post hidden in the grass. Took me 30 mins to unscrew it too...

They are glass insulators from 1895, we save them because of their history. I have a few hundred ive bought or found lined up on shelves.

Well, if it is for history, good job. You should post some video with more insulators you have. It would be grate to take a look on them.

I go insulator hunting here in western Iowa, but the best thing I can find are Hemingray 40s 42s and 45s. Only once I got lucky and got a Root beer Amber Whittall Tatum on the Iowa Interstate Railway.

Hi. Can I ask why you do this? I mean, for what you need these things?

It’s a spiritual, transcendental experience. Salvaging insulators brings one closer to God in many ways.
